"If you can't watch this whole video, then you can't build these wires" Right on! I love content like this, all the hiccups and trials along the way, and then the success at the end. Also, flat head screws are by far and away the easiest to machine, which is likely why they were so prevalent in days past and still prevalent even now. Extremely low cost of machining compared to other more complicated, but superior, head types.
As a mechanic, all my coworkers look at me like I'm stupid. I don't use heat guns, lighters or crack torches for shrink wrap. I use a MAP Gass plumbing torch.😆😆😆 But the result is, as long as the flame doesn't touch the shrink wrap it doesn't burn. And when you get used to it. It will have the shrink wrap shrunk in a few seconds. And it gets hot enough to make the glue flow. That's a pro-tip.
I have no idea what you would pay for these in a hi-end hifi store, $100 - $200 - $300? I do know that Z's $30 cables are saving you a ton of $$ and you're getting some kickass cables to boot. Also, props to Z for basically talking to himself for 2 hours and making it entertaining. I wish I was that creative. Cheers Z
Me, a live sound tech who clicked to watch zeos futs about and oogle at speakons. I was not disappointed. Btw if you want 4 channels of audio on one cable, use an NL8 and then you can put a fanout or Y on the end to do with what you will.
As I know base on his previous video, Zeos’ bedroom is just next to the kitchen. It very small and no window. Then he rented another unit next door later. I really glad that he keep moving forward and success in his business. Now he bought a big beautiful house his own. It’s like a nerd’s dream come true.
At 1:37:25 - The counter-rotating Twist method is better for sound because of the placebo effect in the brain of approving the aesthetic decisions of the designer. Put another way, if you really like the way it looks, you'll think it sounds better. :) Now, where's my money? I'm having a Jerry Maguire moment here...
Man I was watching your old wire making video a few days ago from years back and decided to order some. Nice timing on this video as I need to learn the ropes!
Z can you make an updated "sound bar alternative", I need a solid video to send to my friends before they make some big mistakes. The last one you made is like 5 years old and honestly you're way more interesting and entertaining now.
I know you were being sarcastic, but since you asked. Twisting the wires creates an electro-magnetic field. They’ve been shown to block RF interference, but who knows how much it blocks with with just 2 wires. The weave is what will create the most field. But again, who knows if it makes any difference in speaker cables since it’s such a high voltage signal.
Hmm. To be honest. The electrons will be happy with the twist and counter twist for hot and ground respectively. It'll allow them to "flow" as optimally as possible resulting in smooth sound. Pretty good but i am concerned seeing as you lost a strands of copper that'll bottle neck the wires albeit slightly. was that a good "more money than brains" take? but for real. those look amazing and now i wanna do a project like this.
Neutric Speakon terminals are numbererd, but the numbers are raised plastic and TINY TINY TINY, and they are almost impossible to make out because the blastic is black. The terminals are numbered 2x number 1 and 2x number 2.
So are you keeping these over the walsh ohms as your everyday speakers then? they really sound better then the walsh ohms? if so sell me the walsh ohms? being dead serious i will buy them
it would be great if someone could sell the weaved cable without connectors attached to the ends they could be customized once a customer receives them so it fits their particular needs
Yea.. made my own B.S. eye candy front main cables. Twisted eight gage with WBT style Banana plug ends. Nice that the ends kinda lock in, but they were the majority of the cost. $64. for the bannannas and $26. For 16 feet of twisted 8 gage OFC. Do they improve the sound.. no. But they look impressive to people. Look at those Shunyata anaconda cables in some of the high end equipment reviews. You can almost here the reviewer getting a stiffy when they see them. Too funny.
I like these mad science hour-long format videos you should do them more often when you got to do is set up for review just not all the time a couple of times a month would be great
I was watching this clip hoping you would be showing how to go from a regular speaker wire (unbalanced) to an XLR (balanced) wire. But that was not the objective of this video. I was wondering if you could advise how to do that? I have run in-wall rated wires for my HT system thru walls which they all gather into a low-voltage box. I'd like to put an XLR wall plate on the box. Connect the in-wall speaker wires to the back of XLR plate and then use XLR cables from the wall to my amp. But don't know how to couple them. Regular speaker cables have two wires. XLR is 3 wires. How do achieve this connection? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
19:20 why wouldn’t you terminate one end braid it then cut the excess once? Instead of cutting the 4 foot lengths then braiding then cutting again to 3 foot 🧐 also paracord would fix the color problem and look super cool 👍🏼 maybe next time huh?
When you have big multi-strand conductors to terminate, you crimp on sleeves which you then stick into a clamp terminal. When you have to terminate for a screw terminal and can not have the connection fail ever: Crimp on ring terminal and then flow a fuck ton of solder into it. Doesn't your heatgun stand on its back? I know Steinel has one wierd one that does not, but all other heatguns I know can be stood on their back nozzle up. Prevents one from melting things.
Hey have HD 6xx and was wondering if going balanced would make a big difference ? I have a Fiio K5 Pro for now, and the thing I might try out is using periapt XLR cable on a LOXJIE P20. Is it worth the ~$150 investment ? And I would need to buy RCA cables to pair it up with my existing dac, does the amazonbasics one's great enough ? If going balanced is useless then what's the best tubes amp (or dac&) I could get for less then $150 ?

I feel like it’s definitely easier to start by putting the speakon connector end together before braiding

Dude has a stripper pole in the middle of his bedroom. That's gangsta. Everyone says they're "structural", but we all know that's baloney.

Miss these videos. Some zeos was so relatable in this house. We need more Mad Science Hours.

That's one of the benefits the patreons get, seeing z spin around naked on a stripper pole.

Today I learned how to braid hair.
Those Heresy's actually look really good on the floor.
Pretty sure that is their main selling point.
Daaang. I’m seriously considering building these. It would go great between my crown amp and my 530s.
I wish there were more cables available to take advantage of 4.4mm Pentaconn, especially for use with dual XLR for studio monitors.

I am really tempted to bi-wire my Studio 530's up this way, dual monoblock XLSs and all.
I believe the 2 screws on the banana plug is for squeezing the bare wire and the insulation to keep it in place properly.
