I know the patch notes came out 2 days ago but I thought I'd take my time and record the changes and release these right before the actual Season 1 launch (2 hours from this comment)
I know right? Saw some other dude's video where they're just reading what the ability names are verbatim, as if anyone knows what the hell "Liberty Dash" or some bs like "Magnesium Affront" is. Much better having a video where the creator says the names of the things in a way we can understand, and the visuals make it even clearer.
I just found this man and he’s gonna be my new source for rivals news and updates. Some others I’ve seen just ramble on about nothing at all after reading the patch notes. I just put it on the background.
I also love how he says whether the change is a buff or a nerf, with green and red arrows. Because sometimes the wording from the devs can be confusing

I've used them for more crowd hit and run tactics the few times I've played him. Basically if enemies are grouped up on the objective and I can't take the time to properly target when peaking around a corner.
Aside from easy structural damages which is its primary use. The 3-arrow explosion demolishes Groot's walls easily , 3 arrows hitting it at once is better than 1.

Oh they'll _have_ to eventually make bigger changes. Devs don't get it wrong at all. Balancing a game, even one with so many variables, is relatively easy. But a balanced game is a boring game. Big changes are required for meta shifts in order to keep the game interesting. Your game can have one starcraft moment, where if you keep the game stale for long enough people will find new ways of playing it, but that's not the usual. A game without big meta changes every now and then is prone to cause disinterest

I think they need to maintain a balance between low and high elo for this game, but a small buff for both won't be that massive of a shift.
One small thing that you could've mentioned is that Venom gets bonus health for damage dealt with his ultimate so the +10 damage will also go toward increasing his survivability after using his ultimate too.
There might be a maximum health cap. So if he was already reaching it before patch, it won't matter whether you get aadditional shield from that (if it is capped. I dunno)
Always apparetiate that Karq does patch notes in a very precise and scientific way and showing the before/after and the videos are very concise and to the point. Every other creator just loads up the game and talks about each patch changes for ages
His shield can deflect though. I feel like making his shield be able to aim deflection would raise the skill cap ( pun intended) and be a nice buff. Also there is something animation canceling I forget.
Why you try to compared both? Cap have high mobility when dr strange have low mobility that fair trade a tank with low mobility have CD that make him more sustain
Ok I was confused about the bucky changes. I thought I was misreading because the notes say they want to reduce his long range but then they buff his falloff? Nice to have the confirmation I guess lol
You were correct they did nerf his falloff, but they also increased his base dmg from 70 to 75 so it feels like he deals the same damage at 40m and that seems to be causing the confusion around these patch notes.
No they nerfed the fall off. But in the same patch they buffed his base damage so close range hes dealing more but long range hes dealing around the same.
Really good video, showing the old and new compared side by side and even using a washed out saturation for the old things, to make it clearer which is the new stuff. Also, the zooms on the cooldowns and more detailed changes is great. Thank you KarQ 🙂
Does anyone else think it would be cool if rocket was either hitscan lr way faster projectiles. Right now it feels like you almost exclusively shoot healing orbs bc not only does your gun do almost no damage but landing that damage is really inconsistent. It’s just weird to me that the support with the mini gun is harder to do damage and get kills with than any other support.

@@blackmetal4546 This is classic Junk Rat hate from ow. It's only credible in lower ranks. In higher ranks you need to be consistently hitting high value stuns and flying targets with primary fire which isn't braindead hold left click. Her ult is not that powerful because she already has a lot of DPS so getting value out of it, again, is not that easy.
Random note nobody knows about since it wasn't listed anywhere Spider-Man has gotten his slam uppercut merging move (idk what it's called) officially patched. Meaning you can no longer animation cancel his slam into an uppercut and merge the damage into both attacks. The instant 200HP burst damage move is no longer possible 😔
Good. Fuck him. A good spiderman is literally impossible to hit. All the other divers are at least hittable -even black panther. Playing a hard character doesn't mean you get to be invincible just because you spent three hours learning combos.

Basically what you said is right. It’s seasonal because it’s for team-up anchors, i.e team up characters who don’t get any sort of new ability when their team up is active. Because team ups are supposed to change with seasons from now on (after season 1) so will the anchors. Hence, seasonal buff.

@@CS-pi1dm Presumably, yeah! They’ve said they want to change team ups around but we don’t know exactly what their plans are. I’d imagine that it won’t all change at once like maybe they phase some out and introduce others.
To add, they are keeping seasonal buffs from Season 0 to Season 1 because everyone is still learning about them and using them. From next season, it'll be basically be another balancing lever. They want the chaos to always be different.
i find it strange that Luna and Mantis have still 275 hp, i know it wont make them not meta to nerf it to 250 but at the very least these 2 in particular having more HP compared to most dps and supports is a little silly
Well, if we compare them to the rest of the roster it kind of-ish makes sense. Racoon and jeff have insane survivability and mobility therefore they are at 250. Loki got clones, tp and invis, cloak has a lot of self-sustain so also at 250. Luna’s mobility is unusable if you are getting dove and have to shoot the enemy, mantis has none outside of her speedboost (that also got nerfed). The only odd one here is adam who is even less mobile but for some reason is at 250 hp. Anyhoo, I would love to see some luna nerfs but I don’t feel like hp nerf is something that she needs.
Every other support has mobility or insane self healing. Luna and Mantis are already unplayable in any game with good divers, now you want to make them 250? lol

Important note on the Wolverine change: it's not actually a buff when you take his playstyle into consideration. The nerf to danage reduction outweighs the increase to base health and leaves him with less effective hp while his buff is up... Which is the only time you're ever going on the offensive with him because of his role as a tank assassin. It's usually only a small nerf of 15 hp iirc, but after his revive it becomes a decrease of around 200 effective hp (although i never really stack it with the revive anyways, that's more of a get out of jail free card imo). It's probably not going to make him a worse character by much if at all, but it does mean hes going to be less effective at popping the buff to survive his dives against tanks and he's going to be a bit more reliant on healing between dives, which is kind of weird for the guy known for his regeneration.

Considering season 0 wasn't very long, I'm assuming they want to gather more data before making more adjustments. Honestly the nerfs to them are fine, I'm sure they'll tune it even more as the season progresses.
2:42 every hawkeye main uses these, in ultimate in especific it just melts people, because if you hit a place where you gave like 4 after images, it is going to deal the damage of each explosion to all of those images, so 12 times the damage of one explosion, wich will probably one shot squichies
@@dun7488 It is also good if you are playing widow with the Hawkeye boost, with that you can make the ult go from e-tier to a-tier, deals a massive amount of damage Get in an off angle, use the passive while on ult, wait for the after images to stack and you get just massive freaking damage

I'm a Cloack and Dagger main and I'm also very happy for the buffs. Their ult is still outclassed by Luna and Mantis tho, we literally have to stack it 4 times on the same spot to have the same effect as someone who just presses Q and gets the healing instantly.

Storm got damage falloff adjustments too which really helped her out, her previous fall-off was 15m going to 30m at 50%, now it's 20m to 40m at 70%. Her damage at range is much more reliable now!

The change to Psylocke's ult could be considered a buff because in the previous patch if she was fighting a tank (eg: Hulk, Magneto) that were alone, then her ult would just miss them entirely. Now the ult will target them and break their bubbles so as a result you will be getting some kind of value if the tanks bubble. Credit to Necros, I learnt that from watching his video of the patch notes.
That would make it more of a balance adjustment than a nerf/buff. Still heavily more on the nerf side since Psylocke would prefer her ult focus unshielded targets and not shielded ones. Now she can waste strikes hitting a shield instead of doing damage.
@@tekwizwaofc it wouldn't be on purpose but it helps in the hypothetical that everyone was able to use their movement abilities to get out while the tanks (being the slowest) are stuck and forced to take the hits
If my math is not wrong. Wolverine is an overall buff. Before, he got 600 pseudo health with 300 + 50% dmg reduction. Now it's 630 total pseudo health with 350 + 40% dmg reduction I think.
I'm not sure how you reached 630. But my math ends up at 583~ effective hp with damage resistance up. 300 / 0.5 = 600 350 / 0.6 = 583~ Or the other way around: dealing 580 damage to 40% damage resistance will deal 583~ * 0.6 = 350 I think effectively he's a little less tanky in damage resistance mode. Because he takes more damage relative to healing coming in. But his base 50 extra hp will be very helpful when his ability is not active. If you visualise his damage resistance instead as an hp buff with a healing bonus. He would receive 200% effective healing previously. But now it's only 166%. Making him less sustainable.
Hawkeyes explosive arrows are awesome if you play it correctly. I played against one last night as Thor and he would stop me dead with those things when I was chasing. It was nuts watching how he used them to make spacing and give himself some room to get away when I was in his face. It was a challenge for sure.
All of these changes are good. I would have liked more of course but im glad they arent going crazy with the changes. Small, low percentages, almost everyone that had soemthing nerfed got buffed somewhere else, and it seems like they are trying to increase TTK overall for all heroes which is cool. Getting 1 or 2 shot as a superhero isnt a cool feeling.
no buffs to Rocket gun is diabolical, it's literally near useless if you're not right in the enemy's face and/or they aren't a tank. Now I'm not saying he should suddenly become a dps/healer hybrid like some other strategists but being able to do ANY damage with him without having to basically dive into the enemy team would be nice
Bucky's Damage Falloff Was Nerfed not Buffed, he only deals 60% of the base damage at 40m when he used to deal 65% at 40m. The only reason it doesn't feel like a nerf is because the base damage was buffed from 70 to 75.
With the punisher change, the spread is actually reduced by 15%. It doesnt say this but if you test it by using the biggest gap with the circle crosshair you can see it when lowering it to match the spread. The pre patch spread was the max gap or 100 in settings while now its 85. You can more consistently kill targets now and this means you can kill from further away. The shotgun always felt it missed something. Now i just need some kind of survival ability instead of always relying on healers. A combat stim would be cool, like an adrenaline shot to decrease damage taken. That would make the most sense.
Mantis nerf makes it easier to dive her. So this tagently buffs Loki because he can copy ultimates. The thing that worries me is that they Luna and mantis being good and think the problem is that other supports are bad. Particularly cloak and dagger ult is now very similar to Luna and mantis
I feel like the captain america buffs were okay but I don't think they went in the right direction. I personally think if they only removed the cooldown in raising his shield, allowed you to aim the deflection, and reduced the cooldown of slam and shield bash it would be great.
I think the only reason the cooldown exists is so you can't animation cancel your M1 into M2 and repeat. Canceling your E into F is fine because they're 2 major CD abilities. But M1 and M2 aren't so you can spam them all day and double your DPS.
@ yea sure, but they could solve that by adding an innate cooldown to your m1. In fact I think it already exists because the sprint doesn't reset the M1 cooldown.
The patch notes are looking promising so far, just surprised that Luna didnt get an ult duration nerf but everything else seems perfect. Side note, I cant wait for Human Torch and The Thing, dont get me wrong I love Sue and Reed but the former two are what I'm most excited for this season.
It's gonna be interesting how they differentiate another perma-flying character from the two already in the game, I'm imagining the Human Torch as a high mobility, short range pick hero with a flamethrower-esque basic attack. Both Iron Man and storm already have a projectile with splash damage as their basic attack, so I don't think they'll go that route again
Panther not played? Are you trolling, he was pretty much the best melee hero in the game. Saying he's not played is a pretty dumb take imo. The nerfs are definitely pretty harsh tho
@Fusible_1 must just be a difference of rank, I can only speak up to gold 1, and I very rarely saw him. That being said, I do agree that he can be strong with a good team, but in my experience in gold, that doesn't come around that often.
iron fist is in a weird spot right now. nearly unplayable in higher ranks and really good at lower ranks. they might need a small rework for him (particularly around his block) before they start tweaking numbers in either direction

strange has been one of the strongest tanks since launch. Hulk is the other one because he has strong teamups with strange (and iron man). Even with these changes he will still be extremely good.
@@supakuma8200 her autoaim does very little damage. the fact she has the most kills is just cause she contributes a little to every kill with her autoaim being so consistent. her actual threatening damage comes from the magic missiles, which she does actually have to aim. I really couldn't be upset about a 60dps autoaim. This isn't anywhere near symmetra who used to melt anyone without aiming at all
I agree with you on Black Panther he did not need a nerf. If anything, I think his health gain could have used a buff. I barely noticed the damn thing. And as for the buff to Scarlet Witch, I haven't seen her in high-end play do I can speak on her that much, but in my experience, Scarlet Witch is often a throw pick. Is she being played well at high-rank play?

Winter Soldier main here. I’m glad they nerfed the area damage because there would be two healers next to each other and I would get so many double kills because of that. Definitely not super fair

Really disappointed at the mantis nerf. I agree that she's very strong but the movement speed is not the problem. Now she's just that much less fun to play for no reason. I would've been fine with literally any other nerf.
I dunno .. I was showing my friend the game and he really loves cap and he was getting out run by mantis while he was SPRINTING and she was back pedaling. It's a really strong passive. It's not just speed in a fight, it's that you get back to fights faster which is huge.
He was just to hard to kill for what he does. This makes him slightly more killable so that panther players can't just willy nilly dash through the entire enemy team with no counter play, but still be able to get their assasinations. The devs know what they are doing
@obryanmeli2887 sure the slight health gain decrease when using certain moves on panther will make him slightly more vulnerable to enemy attacks but that doesn't mean panther users should be relying on this extra health anyways, that's why panther users play carefully
8:17 honestly this isnt a nerf, its a buff because spamming it was just extremely suboptimal anyway since the damage buff was almost never actually applied, and the few times it was applied it would never be enough to actually be worth the sacrificed healing rate.
As a Hulk player I just wanted to say you can really feel the nerf in game. You normally pop shield and swing 3-4 times before having to retreat but now your bubble is popped as soon as you get in and it’s time to get out of there before swinging at all. That being said, I like all the changes so far.

The squirrel girl buff is insanely good. The ult autotracks so getting kills like I got the achievement twice in one game.

They want you to play in dash range, not sitting back poking with your hawkeye.

Because the talons have larger explosions. The ultimate radius increase shows that explosion radius increase for the boundary talons.

His gun has brutal damage falloff. Normal damage is within 10ft.

In higher ranks you need to be consistently hitting high value stuns and flying targets with primary fire which isn't braindead hold left click. Her ult is not that powerful because she already has a lot of DPS so getting value out of it, again, is not that easy.

Spider-Man has gotten his slam uppercut merging move (idk what it's called) officially patched. Meaning you can no longer animation cancel his slam into an uppercut and merge the damage into both attacks. The instant 200HP burst damage move is no longer possible 😔

Can someone explain to me the whole "seasonal bonus" thing. What about it is seasonal? I was thinking the bonuses would change every season and maybe season 0 into season 1 doesnt count
Basically what you said is right. It’s seasonal because it’s for team-up anchors, i.e team up characters who don’t get any sort of new ability when their team up is active. Because team ups are supposed to change with seasons from now on (after season 1) so will the anchors. Hence, seasonal buff.

To add, they are keeping seasonal buffs from Season 0 to Season 1 because everyone is still learning about them and using them. From next season, it'll be basically be another balancing lever. They want the chaos to always be different.
Interestingly enough testing the Psylocke ult and Doctor strange interaction on live it seem to completely ignore the barrier and only strike Strange
They also reduced the time to switch from cloak and dagger
i find it strange that Luna and Mantis have still 275 hp, i know it wont make them not meta to nerf it to 250 but at the very least these 2 in particular having more HP compared to most dps and supports is a little silly
Well, if we compare them to the rest of the roster it kind of-ish makes sense. Racoon and jeff have insane survivability and mobility therefore they are at 250. Loki got clones, tp and invis, cloak has a lot of self-sustain so also at 250. Luna’s mobility is unusable if you are getting dove and have to shoot the enemy, mantis has none outside of her speedboost (that also got nerfed). The only odd one here is adam who is even less mobile but for some reason is at 250 hp.
Anyhoo, I would love to see some luna nerfs but I don’t feel like hp nerf is something that she needs.
But they also have less ways to heal themselves up compared to the other supports

Important note on the Wolverine change: it's not actually a buff when you take his playstyle into consideration. The nerf to danage reduction outweighs the increase to base health and leaves him with less effective hp while his buff is up... Which is the only time you're ever going on the offensive with him because of his role as a tank assassin. It's usually only a small nerf of 15 hp iirc, but after his revive it becomes a decrease of around 200 effective hp (although i never really stack it with the revive anyways, that's more of a get out of jail free card imo). It's probably not going to make him a worse character by much if at all, but it does mean hes going to be less effective at popping the buff to survive his dives against tanks and he's going to be a bit more reliant on healing between dives, which is kind of weird for the guy known for his regeneration.

Considering season 0 wasn't very long, I'm assuming they want to gather more data before making more adjustments. Honestly the nerfs to them are fine, I'm sure they'll tune it even more as the season progresses.
Luna needs her Ult either to take longer to build, heal at a much slower rate, or last about 6 or 7 seconds while active.

2:42 every hawkeye main uses these, in ultimate in especific it just melts people, because if you hit a place where you gave like 4 after images, it is going to deal the damage of each explosion to all of those images, so 12 times the damage of one explosion, wich will probably one shot squichies

Get in an off angle, use the passive while on ult, wait for the after images to stack and you get just massive freaking damage

I'm a Cloack and Dagger main and I'm also very happy for the buffs. Their ult is still outclassed by Luna and Mantis tho, we literally have to stack it 4 times on the same spot to have the same effect as someone who just presses Q and gets the healing instantly.

Storm got damage falloff adjustments too which really helped her out, her previous fall-off was 15m going to 30m at 50%, now it's 20m to 40m at 70%. Her damage at range is much more reliable now!

The change to Psylocke's ult could be considered a buff because in the previous patch if she was fighting a tank (eg: Hulk, Magneto) that were alone, then her ult would just miss them entirely. Now the ult will target them and break their bubbles so as a result you will be getting some kind of value if the tanks bubble.

That would make it more of a balance adjustment than a nerf/buff. Still heavily more on the nerf side since Psylocke would prefer her ult focus unshielded targets and not shielded ones. Now she can waste strikes hitting a shield instead of doing damage.

If my math is not wrong. Wolverine is an overall buff. Before, he got 600 pseudo health with 300 + 50% dmg reduction. Now it's 630 total pseudo health with 350 + 40% dmg reduction I think.
also if you think of it, it's 50hp active 100% of the time, instead of 5 seconds every 15 or so seconds
it's 450 and 490. 50% of 300 = 150 and 40% of 300 is 140

I'm not sure how you reached 630. But my math ends up at 583~ effective hp with damage resistance up. 300 / 0.5 = 600 350 / 0.6 = 583~
Or the other way around: dealing 580 damage to 40% damage resistance will deal 583~ * 0.6 = 350
I think effectively he's a little less tanky in damage resistance mode. Because he takes more damage relative to healing coming in. But his base 50 extra hp will be very helpful when his ability is not active.
If you visualise his damage resistance instead as an hp buff with a healing bonus. He would receive 200% effective healing previously. But now it's only 166%. Making him less sustainable.
Hawkeyes explosive arrows are awesome if you play it correctly. I played against one last night as Thor and he would stop me dead with those things when I was chasing. It was nuts watching how he used them to make spacing and give himself some room to get away when I was in his face. It was a challenge for sure.
All of these changes are good. I would have liked more of course but im glad they arent going crazy with the changes. Small, low percentages, almost everyone that had soemthing nerfed got buffed somewhere else, and it seems like they are trying to increase TTK overall for all heroes which is cool. Getting 1 or 2 shot as a superhero isnt a cool feeling.

no buffs to Rocket gun is diabolical, it's literally near useless if you're not right in the enemy's face and/or they aren't a tank. Now I'm not saying he should suddenly become a dps/healer hybrid like some other strategists but being able to do ANY damage with him without having to basically dive into the enemy team would be nice

Bucky's Damage Falloff Was Nerfed not Buffed, he only deals 60% of the base damage at 40m when he used to deal 65% at 40m. The only reason it doesn't feel like a nerf is because the base damage was buffed from 70 to 75.

With the punisher change, the spread is actually reduced by 15%. It doesnt say this but if you test it by using the biggest gap with the circle crosshair you can see it when lowering it to match the spread. The pre patch spread was the max gap or 100 in settings while now its 85. You can more consistently kill targets now and this means you can kill from further away. The shotgun always felt it missed something. Now i just need some kind of survival ability instead of always relying on healers. A combat stim would be cool, like an adrenaline shot to decrease damage taken. That would make the most sense.

I feel like the captain america buffs were okay but I don't think they went in the right direction.
I personally think if they only removed the cooldown in raising his shield, allowed you to aim the deflection, and reduced the cooldown of slam and shield bash it would be great.
I agree having a character who’s known for having a shield and slapping a cooldown on it just to raise it is so weird
I think the only reason the cooldown exists is so you can't animation cancel your M1 into M2 and repeat. Canceling your E into F is fine because they're 2 major CD abilities. But M1 and M2 aren't so you can spam them all day and double your DPS.
@ yea sure, but they could solve that by adding an innate cooldown to your m1. In fact I think it already exists because the sprint doesn't reset the M1 cooldown.

The patch notes are looking promising so far, just surprised that Luna didnt get an ult duration nerf but everything else seems perfect.
Side note, I cant wait for Human Torch and The Thing, dont get me wrong I love Sue and Reed but the former two are what I'm most excited for this season.

It's gonna be interesting how they differentiate another perma-flying character from the two already in the game, I'm imagining the Human Torch as a high mobility, short range pick hero with a flamethrower-esque basic attack. Both Iron Man and storm already have a projectile with splash damage as their basic attack, so I don't think they'll go that route again

iron fist is in a weird spot right now. nearly unplayable in higher ranks and really good at lower ranks. they might need a small rework for him (particularly around his block) before they start tweaking numbers in either direction

strange has been one of the strongest tanks since launch. Hulk is the other one because he has strong teamups with strange (and iron man).
Even with these changes he will still be extremely good.

She always has the most kills without any need to aim
@@supakuma8200 her autoaim does very little damage. the fact she has the most kills is just cause she contributes a little to every kill with her autoaim being so consistent. her actual threatening damage comes from the magic missiles, which she does actually have to aim.
I really couldn't be upset about a 60dps autoaim. This isn't anywhere near symmetra who used to melt anyone without aiming at all

Seasonal damage bonuses are incredibly dumb, especially for heroes who are close to the breakpoint of oneshotting someone.
it's even weirder cause they're balancing around the season bonuses. I'm not sure why they exist at this point.
The devs said there will be changes in season 2 to them. But for season 1 they didn’t have enough time to. Also seasonal bonus probably makes more sense Long term when the game has like 50 characters so players actually get to try out team ups

Really disappointed at the mantis nerf. I agree that she's very strong but the movement speed is not the problem.
Now she's just that much less fun to play for no reason. I would've been fine with literally any other nerf.
I dunno .. I was showing my friend the game and he really loves cap and he was getting out run by mantis while he was SPRINTING and she was back pedaling. It's a really strong passive. It's not just speed in a fight, it's that you get back to fights faster which is huge.
@ If your friend hit him once by throwing the shield, It would cancel the movement speed. It cancels when you take damage.

He was just to hard to kill for what he does. This makes him slightly more killable so that panther players can't just willy nilly dash through the entire enemy team with no counter play, but still be able to get their assasinations.

8:17 honestly this isnt a nerf, its a buff because spamming it was just extremely suboptimal anyway since the damage buff was almost never actually applied, and the few times it was applied it would never be enough to actually be worth the sacrificed healing rate.

As a Hulk player I just wanted to say you can really feel the nerf in game. You normally pop shield and swing 3-4 times before having to retreat but now your bubble is popped as soon as you get in and it’s time to get out of there before swinging at all. That being said, I like all the changes so far.
