When I shot lead I used the 3 1/2 lbxr #6 out of a Mossberg 935 with a Carlsons lbxr choke .683 and it hammered for a lead load. Had to beat that lead load.
I shot 5s in my 935 with a Jebs .655 & 835 with a .665 CBT patternmaster 24” barrels and and it had a killing oattern at 45 I’ve never tested further than that but I may do that one day
Was thinking that I hope they make this gun in all gauges soon right before you said it. Was talking to the gun shop owner that I do hydrographics for yesterday about it. He showed me a 500 pump that had the cutout and a 407 from the factory. So I’m hoping it happens.
My problem with the 940 line is mag release feature. When the bolt is forwarded and you have two shells in the mag and you depress the bolt release the mag drop a round in half underneath the floor plate. Affectively jamming your gun. Try it!!!
I shot the same setup with the same results with that choke and #6 longbeard … what I found to be my best results so far is the black diamond Indian creek strike turkey choke with #5 longbeard with the mossberg 940 pro turkey and the 18.5 barrel
I agree We will be doing shot penetration tests with lead shot as well to compare 4’s to 5’s and see what 6’s really can ethically do too It won’t just be tss
Nice one Guys, Thank you I be going in woods for first Day opener, and have run the same setup since 1993 when I got my 1300 Winchester, with a diamond retacal scope , with 660 Hastings. Was using Federal 6, then started using XR about 8 or so years ago. Put a lot of turkeys down and 2 coyotes. Yell this Old Man going with Lead 😂😂 Wish me luck 👍✌️
BUT, long beard XR have something unique about them. Open the shell and check it out the glue, the shot and buffer are glued together to keep the shot together down range! You won’t see that in any other load I’ve deconstructed! Lead has kill more birds then any medal out there……
This is a perfect choke/load for a budget hunter.
A budget hunter wouldn’t be using a $1000 gun?
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA A “high budget” hunter
@jacobkittleson8375 that makes no sense 🤣🤣
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA 😂
my 500 turkey patterns very very nice with long beard xr carlson choke tube w the long beard xr shells....very nice combo
Hell ya it does!

Rumor has it sub gauges are coming to the 940 🤫🤫

@BrockLowell I will when I get a chance I haven’t had a second to try it
I'd love to see a indian creek vs a patternmaster code black turkey with longbeard xr #6s ...on the fence...I'm partial to patternmaster
I currently have neither for the 940 hoping to get both shortly

Nice!
40 yards is probably the ethical limit for lead 6s but if you know that going in you can smoke birds to 40.
I agree

It won’t just be tss

Would be interesting to see all these same test done with the 24" to see the differences.
Don’t have a 24 inch barrel
Wouldn’t be any different
Yes there is… it would be longer 🤣🤣
Looks similar to some of my 410 TSS patterns at 40
Right ahahah

Yessir LBXR was unique that’s for sure!!
Very true I think tss will catch up very quickly at the rate it’s going
