Wow 😮 Just got this same guitar 1990 came stock w/LP Custom cover between neck/pickup (blank truss cover) - after you get used to picking w/the 3 pups - it’s sooooooo much better than I thought. Awesome !!!

The neck is fine. Most of the examples I have seen in this finish from this era have that. It’s just a bad spot for the finish.
I had a 96 historic model, it's was amazing.
I'd literally give my life for an white Sg custom with the 3 pickups. I wish Gibson wasn't so expensive ughhhhhh. Super great video mate! ❤
You can get the Epiphone version which looks almost the same for like 1k

According to musiciansfriend.com the Gibson factory had an abundance of the Les Paul name plates which they used (from factory) on the SG right up until the end of 1963 👌
Have an Epi version of this as of today. I'm in HEAVEN. It's from the era Epi went in the toilet apparently(05), but I've no playability issues thus far.

I have a 1999 Korean version. Now 22 years old. It sounds great and plays wonderfully. Even stays in tune !

Does the newer SG still have the weak spot where the body and neck come together
My understanding is they have longer neck tenon's under the little white plastic plate to help joint stability

I just received the last of the Chinese counterfeits, brother. A beautifully made creme Gibson SG custom with 3 pickups and gold hardware. Also a Les Paul Custom: with quilted top green burst with gold. Both with perfect Gibson headstocks. & Both for under $500. delivered.
Pictures didn't show the Gibson headstock. But when they came, I was not displeased.
The shop: Luckinmusic as with all others in China are shut down now.
I never knew how fat and clean a single melody line could caress my acoustic nerve until this SG arrived. Although not harmonically balanced for chords like my Grote semi-hollow flame 12-string set up for 6, but single lines: sweeter than honey, bro. Some instruments produce no listening fatigue such as a great violin or classical guitar. That SG custom is right there with them.
Would you sell me that China sg custom?
