      That should teach everyone when watching Communist propaganda. They don't have the technological know-how to create a battery-powered helicopter that has enough power to carry a human passenger. This is hard to do anywhere in the world, but it takes the Chinese Communists to create a fake news story to brag about a non-existent accomplishment.

    I'd honestly pass on this one. Safety concern 1. Open blades. Safety concern 2. entry door too small. 3. the landing feet isnt practical if a landing spot isn't smooth. 4. Emergency parachute exit. Also some minute efficiency details DJI would laugh off when they want to try extreme tests on this. Guys nature is powerful, when wind speeds gets to 161 or more Kmph or even hit this half the way it does on helicopters, i sense trouble. Still a lotta work to do on this. First off those open blades!!!

      The real question is are any of these deficiencies insurmountable? When the automobile first came out, it had no headrest, no seat belts, no collapsible steering column, no shatter proof glass...now there are over a billion of them in active use. How difficult would it be to fix the the issues you've identified? I'm guessing not very.

      Exactly what i was thinking when he was standing by it. Good way to get halved if they have no form of emergency stop. Im almost certain they dont break away since they'd have to be strong enough to lift the drone and its passenger into the air. I've seen table saws that will stop if you put a piece of bread in front of the blade so there's technology out there that could possibly be applied but still those blades look pretty intimidating.

    A: Anywhere in the world.
    Q: but how far per charge?
    A: About 30km.
    ... Dude, 30km is the answer to the first question. Also, for it to be the first passenger drone, it has to actually fly with a passenger, not only just be able to fly with an empty "passenger" compartment.

    Definitely a little sketchy that you cannot fly it from inside it has to be preconfigured or remotely managed. What if it lost remote connection? I wounder what is the delay in the remote display, is there enough notice to avoid an accident.
    My guess is since you basically cannot fly it is why you don't need a pilots license.

    14:19 - Takes off, 97% / 87.5V
    15:00 - Begins to move, 93% / 87.0V
    So it lost 7% in a little over a minute. And that's without a human in there adding weight. So you can only really fly these things for 10 minutes or so empty? Nice toy!

      Agreed. The passenger module needs to be significantly larger, too. chinese people aren't known for being, uh, larger-boned, and they had trouble getting in and out of it. As a proof-of-concept, it was/is cool. Now, they need to take it to the next level. The military applications alone are just mind-boggling...

      Australia Regulations make it very hard for innovation.
      Multi rotor aircraft cannot be flown without micro-controllers the inputs required without one are too complex. Even manual flight is translated by the controller to movement. Manual flight is even hard with a flight controller but using a barometer flight becomes much much more easy (altitude hold mode), internet and gps is not needed in this mode.

    • @middleclassic
      @middleclassic 6 лет назад +1

      No, it is not fake. It is the real deal. It can carry one passenger, but when it flies from point A to Point B, that route is pre-programmed into the Ehang 184. So the passenger does not actually fly it, the Ehang flies itself. But you are correct, it is a large drone. A large drone big enough to carry one passenger. And I do not doubt that they will stick strictly to the pre-programmed routes with the routes being paths that have been tested to make sure there are no hazards in the way like power lines. My dream has been to have something like this but a vehicle that anyone can fly anywhere they want and any time. But unfortunately I now realize that may never happen just because of things like power lines. But then again, I'm pretty sure any new cities being built bury their power lines and the like with nothing of that sort above ground. Power lines in some cities are incredibly unsightly and are inherently dangerous being out in the open. So we probably will get around to vehicles that can be flown anywhere at anytime. It just will not happen in my lifetime :-/

    awesome concept, however, i think it needs further development before it can be considered a viable and reliable means of transportation.
    one area of concern are the exposed propellers. by encasing them in lightweight ducts, not only do you decrease chance of injury, but you also get more efficient thrust which should increase its range. also this may have to wait for a major break through in battery technology before it has the range and lift capacity to make it a practical mode of transportation, but i say they are definitely off to a good start

    • @netgeek3010
      @netgeek3010 6 лет назад +7

      Completely agree but I would have also put the props on the top VS on the ground and I wounder if they are duel motors per side. If one motor where to fail the other could give time to land the drone.

      That's one of the biggest reasons Solar and Wind power is going nowhere. It's only good for very limited and immediate use, because it can't be stored efficiently. Our batteries are still 20th century technology, trying to make 21st century technology work.

If you tell it to go to an address and it maps out the nearest drone landing area, it'll go to it. You don't have to pilot it, it's a computer, like you don't have to tell a horse to jump over a fence or swim through water to get back home, it just knows.

The drones will know to avoid each other and land according to remaining battery power. Can't wait to try this.

      Adding an alternator or stater would draw more power than adding causing less flight time. Remember 20 min in the air can cover longer distances then 20 min on a road way. This is because of slower speeds on the roadways and flights don't need to avoid buildings depending on flight ceiling they are allowed to fly at. For example is the AirTaxi goes 120 mph for 20 minutes that is 40 miles. For a car going 60 mph to go 40 miles would take you 40 minutes without traffic or stops of any kind.
