  • This is an unboxing and review of the Craftsman V20 4.5 inch Angle Grinder which you can purchase from various retailers such as Amazon Ace Hardware, Lowe's, and Blain's Farm & Fleet. I bought my unit from Lowe's at a 20% discount rate for $39.00. The angle grinder that I purchased was tool only, which means there is no battery or tool bag included in the box. There are several hyperlinks for this tool shown below.

Always take the battery out of the tool when you change the disc on a battery. Take the battery out when you work on any tool.

That's good safety advice. Thanks, I'll make sure to do so next time. God Bless

That switch and trigger system is actually better from a safety standpoint-if you lose your grip, the grinder shuts off.Wish other brands did that as well.Although it did sound like it was bottoming out when you cousin was grinding that bolt.

I actually baught the grinder and drill and impact. And sawzall and multi tool and flashlight today. I did use the hyper tough same tools from wallmart. But I figured it's time to up grade my tools.

Craftsman is very great quality, I use them on the job everyday, still work just as well as when I got them.

Thanks for this unboxing/overview!! I see they just came out with a new brushless model with a paddle switch, similar to the DeWalt. I like the price of this & prefer the slimmer handle for safety/ergonomics. I have the v20 miter saw & it's very good!! Just got extra 4ah batteries, so after using it some, would you recommend this model vs other types that lock on? I prefer the slimmer handle on this, but wonder if it's fatiguing to have to hold the trigger for extended periods?

This one is very comfortable, much better bang for your buck, only difference is you will get better battery life with the brushless version.

@@EverydayTools Thanks for the feedback!! I may pick this up then. My miter saw came with the fast charger & I've got three 4ah batteries to help with run time. Thanks again for your feedback & reviews of this grinder, it's appreciated!!

Locked on switch is the best option for angle grinder as you have the full control of the grinder without getting your hands and wrist tired for long use. Paddle and trigger switch is trash

I’ve got 3 harbor freight cheapies. They just keep working. Nice tool though. Wonder how they’ll honor the warranty.

Harbor Freight can surprise me with their quality sometimes. Nice to hear you got some good ones that are loyal to you. When it comes to the warranty, they usually give you credit if you are still within the window or they will try to replace the product if it is still made. Thanks for the feedback on the video, its greatly appreciated.

You do realize that sear and lowes hasn't made these for many years they are re badged dewalts, they have been made by stanley black and decker for years

    • @EverydayTools
      @EverydayTools  3 года назад +1

Yeah, in 2017 Stanley Black and Decker bought the Craftsman brand from Sears for around $900 Million. This particular tool here is a rebadged Porter Cable cordless angle grinder. Still a great quality too for the price nonetheless.

@@EverydayTools I agree I own nothing but craftsman tools being a young mechanic and the hand tools are much different have that craftsman quality and although the power tools feel a bit cheaper just like the porter cables ,they are quality and do have that dewalt touch it's getting better and becoming a quality brand once again.

ABS and glass reinforced are two different plastics.

@@EverydayTools I believe the Craftsman red plastic is ABS. If you flip the unit over it should be stamped into the plastic under the battery.
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibre-reinforced_plastic
It's got this look to it like there's little fibers interwoven into the plastic. Kind of like how fiberglass looks but much smoother.
