- Master violin maker and restorer Olaf Grawert asks AI to paint a Violin Workshop...
It definitely came up with an interesting picture!

The spoons are clearly necessary for producing and mounting cello chin rests
I adore the way Olaf keeps panning past and not mentioning the spoons and not mentioning the spoons and not saying a single word about the spoons.
I too essentially only noticed the spoons. 😂
What happened to the strings on the violin he's working on? Looks like it has four strings until it gets to left hand... then they never connect to the tailpiece!
You probably have all the tools and skills to make some very nice carved wooden spoons. You may just need to pick up a spoon carving knife.
I love the chello with the chin rest.
chin cello is a thing
“We don’t use spoons for violin repair” “Every good violin maker has six fingers” “He looks a bit like Santa Claus on a day off” this is great haha
It seems to me AI is basically mix and match different pictures and ends up in weird mutation. It's like human has mutated with aliens, violin has mutated with guitar, etc.
The spoons killed me when I saw this in your community post. 😂
Bro just from the thumbnail I can see the AI violin maker turning a string into a bow
A fun video indeed, thanks Olaf! will be interesting to repeat this experiment once a year, to check up on AI advancements…
I would hang an air powered impact tool on the back wall, and perhaps a floor jack.
Good Morning Olaf!
The spoons are for stirring coffee!
Now we know about Stradivarius! Thanks, Olaf!
Love the Dark Side of the Moon T shirt. Pink Floyd's best album imo.
Fun but also interesting .
2:58 the "cello with a chinrest" appears to have f-holes done by Da Salò though! Not bad, not bad... ;)
TwoSet just uploaded a vid, Olaf - a quiz testing their violin knowledge & thanks to your channel, I could answer many of the questions. They're wondering whether to do a part 2. I suggest you do a collab & expound their responses. Maybe even do a reaction vid to today's. I mean where did lion head scrolls come into the picture? And why is the the Italian War associated with the oldest existing use of the Italian term for violin?
I laughed at spoons so hard. And then remembered that I keep a wooden kitchen spatula near my tools for about a year now because I wanted to try making a violin bridge out of it but never had time to do that
I love the intro Olaf!!!!!❤❤
I think the "tool" he's holding is a piece of a bow, something AI would see next to a hand.
I love the adorable cheerful anthropomorphic cello bridge standing on the bench behind your right shoulder! Did you place it there specially for this video?)
Believe it or not, it's just a bridge I had been working on...
So no.
I think there are a bunch of dysmorphic bows that you overlooked. I think he is probably holding a tiny bow in his 6 fingered hand, bringing a new interpretation of “sawing away on the violin”. On the wall at the left side, i think those are a series of bows hanging, but they end up being wooden sticks. You also overlooked the metronome rising up from the bowl of wood shavings….
Because of this video, every violin maker in Italy will now go through genetic mutation processes to grow an extra finger to be the next Stradivarius
Hi Olaf, QUESTION (not about AI) why do you trim the kidneys on the bridge? I've seen you do that a couple of times, but I don't know what that action does to the violin.
Please explain it sometime unless you think it is a stupid question.
"He looks like Santa Claus on a day off" Lmao.... but then again, maybe we now have the answer as to what he does the other 364 days of the year - He turns out VSO's!
Great idea for a vid, Olaf. Glad to know artists are safe if they paint more specialised subjects!
Somebody’s gotta make them for the good little boys and girls. Or maybe Santa thought coal wasn’t harsh enough for the naughty kids….
@@trumpetmom8924 🤣
Santa Claus on his day off is crazy
at 6:20 I heard "Eff-ing good violin makers have to have 6 fingers"...
That's what I thought but have replayed a couple of times and it's 'every' good violin maker!
"I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?"
Drats...
You found out my secret...
It's always so difficult to edit out 😂
"Do you start all conversations this way?" 😉😁
Inconceivable!!
Chinrests for cellos would sell quite well as a social media marketed gag gift
Well get going! It's April Fool's Day the day after tomorrow!
I think he makes spoons when work is slow.
Do you use a spoon for your coffee? I would say coffee is a very integral part of your violin making.
Thats not a chin rest on a cello...thats the jolly green giant's Viola, lol 😂
Yes I was thinking the exact same thing. In for setup.
A fun video.
I'll say it again of the two AI's the old one has proven to have worked reliably for thousands of years so Antique Intelligence is what I use every day especially since I became and antique myself.
Just be careful in the future about making this type of request after the Atlas Robots and such are released as the New AI might send a crew of them over to paint your violin workshop instead. Hopefully they'll use drop cloths.
Best!
Where in the world did you find the picture @6:41, of the luthier with six fingers?
It's better than i can do. I want to hear a violin solo by AI. AI music will be redundent.
Try Suno AI. It can generate pop songs quite well, even singing it out with lyrics, but all sound a bit generic with common chord progression and lacking soulds. For classical music, that's disaster. The AI doesn't even seem to know Bach or Mozart, just give me some pop song with a classical feel.
The man in the picture does look a bit like the late string repair man in my city. He was older with white hair and beard. The rest of the workshop, hilariously wrong!! Seems like a bad dream I have had trying to find an instrument and only finding misproportioned instruments that do not play.
What would be produced from several AI requests for the same thing?
Spoons?
But is the AI guy making bows from human hair?
IDK looks like a normal European violin workshop to me.
Don't cellos have chinrests in Australia? hmmm weird
Is he working on a cello de spalla?
2:51 just how many fingers does he have...
how did you get the ai photo????
What's with all the wooden spoons? 🤣
Lol this was funny!
What the spoon use for?
Violin makers need to eat too
I bought my first violin, a Yamaha sv-200 electric violin. Was that a mistake? Is it worth $1,395.99 ???
Wait, it's not real? wow.... imagine that!
😂 killing it
Funny😂😂
Maybe that cello was a violin for Shaq
Obviously you need more spoons to be truly successful. Glad you found out before you sprout the perfect thick gray hair proportions that happen in old age.
Six fingers?😮
Your AI prompt needs to be more descriptive.... IMHO
The AI technology is made in China so I would say this is bang on
I am more worried by the wooden spoons hanging up.
One of my violinmaking friends carves spoons.
If you did grow your beard out and it was that white we would have to call you Santa the violinmaker
Ai is not there yet.

It's like a child's puzzle. Find all the things wrong in this picture.
Wrong number or misshapen fingers is a (current) tell-tale sign of AI. It just struggles with fingers. It's the first place I look. (While most likely a error,) to be fair, it does happen in nature, so I'm forced to give it a begrudging pass.
Extra digits in real life usually look like odd little nubbins or finger buds, so don’t bother giving a pass…
@@sleepydrJ I believe a baby born with an extra digit has it amputated cos it would cause too many problems later in life otherwise.... So this Santa violin maker is a rare find!
Haha a cello with a chin rest is like a dog, running dow a street with a cats' head.
All cellists will start putting chin rests on their instrument so they can keep up with AI.
So many wooden spoons.
Fingers crossed AI remains dumb enough not to steal everyone's jobs 😂
You don't need AI for nonsense. Models have been holding soldering irons by the hot end and done plumbing with hammers for years and years.
🤣
Much Hilarryosity created here!
(AI created answer)
🤣 🙉
