I started flames of war about 10 years ago. Bought a bunch of Germans. I had no idea what I was doing or how to base as it was my very first time I did historicals. However, I was overwhelmed with them because I had no idea what went where. I had mental paralysis with it. I moved and they all got jumbled together. And with some of the metal minis, they’re lacking detail and are just metal blobs. So I really had no idea wtf they were. I just put them in a box in the garage and haven’t had the bravery to touch them since. I bought into American forces and have been having anxiety with how to base them, especially since I dont want to glue them to the base before I paint them. I think I have a good system to keep track of what goes where as I’m painting however. Thanks for the video.
And I've been off and on in the game for awhile and doing infantry still drives me nuts. Doesn't help that I'm usually doing Soviets "Oh you bought one box of the Soviet SMG company, Yeah you better get another for a legal SMG army."
@@thedicegodswg I've got a Soviet rifle brigade and the old engineer-sappers in mine on top of another v3 strekovy box and a SMG company. Though I might need to switch to Germans as Soviets are apparently BF's whipping boy for V4.
Haha thanks! Glad you liked it. I think we could have made this 2 years ago and still been too late for many. 😉 Still, here's hoping it helps future new players. Welcome to the game!
I'm getting the impression that essentially the overall collection of the bases represent the squads since the FoW rules aren't concerned with each individual figure but more what they represent at a whole?
I was confused when I was making the miniatures before, thank you for the guidance.
Our pleasure. I had the same when starting out, so made a video I wished I'd seen!
Thank-you lots of help in getting them in order.will.have to use the extra ones for diorama on the battle field. Thxs again
No problem 👍

Oof, that's a rough start! The newer minis don't have that issue. But maybe, if you do go again, start really small and with tanks!
Thank you for putting that together. I started FOW a few months ago and you summed up how I felt when got my Hit the Beach set! LOL
Haha a common tale! Hope we helped explain it all a bit.
I wish this was about 6 months ago, but I've forwarded it to a mate who is just starting, great video.
Thanks, glad it was useful. I know what you mean though, we made this video as we wish it had been there when we started too. :)
Thank you! 🙂
No problem, hope it helped!
Looking forward to the spring offensive!

Oh yes, I have a box of each type of Soviet infantry waiting to be done... my soul screams every time I catch a glimpse of them in the pile of shame.

Correct, pretty much.
