We really enjoyed this video. We traveled the area you are in back in 2017. It brought back some wonderful memories. In 2015 we were exploring in the Doolin area south of Galway. At the end of the day we decided to visit a local pub where there was entertainment. The entertainers asked if there were travellers in attendance so my wife and I put up our hands. We were asked where we were from we responded with Calgary, Canada. The singer said they knew a wonderful Gordon Lightfoot tune which they sang. Made us think of home. A lovely touching moment of our ride.
Hi, thanks very much for commenting and great to hear you enjoyed the video. So nice to hear you had an amazing trip here too and we love that this brought back fond memories. That must have been a great night out and the perfect way to finish a day on the road! Here’s the full playlist incase you would like to see the rest of the trip 😎👍🏻 ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31&si=FdgBbBzc4M4BUUog
Coffee shops are one of the highlights on a trip for us, they don't take too much time or money and you get to meet nice people and take a few minutes to appreciate where we are 😊...oh and the coffee is great too 😂
@@SeanandEmily im addicted to caffeine so badly,, for me the best ones r the ones in gas station especially in Spain 😅😅 quick double espresso less than 2 euro and it hit the brain directly 😂😑
@@SeanandEmily The mountains, the sea, the endless twisties, beautiful nature and scenery, the charming French towns and a warmer climate... What's more to ask for? :)
Looking at that breakfast made me hungry 😂 I just love the small villages along the route. You really capture how it would feel to be in place(that was straight on translation from how i would say it in swedish) 😂 As always very enjoyable video and i´m a sucker for thoose drone footages.
In fairness this was a good breakfast! 😂 Yeah the little villages are great and the roads connecting them really nice to ride. Actually that translated really well! 😉 Thanks, yeah the drone is one of those things that it's sometimes an effort to stop and use but afterwards we are really happy we did!
The wavy road surface is a result of the peat bog the roads are built on. The road is more or less floating in places. The surface can be laid flat and over time develops undulations.
I rode the northern half of the Wild Atlantic Way in May 2018 and loved Roundstone - stopped for lunch in the other cafe on the opposite side of the road and was blessed with six days of sunshine. However, it rained heavily on the seventh day when riding back to Dublin from Malin Head - not what I wanted but to be expected in Northern Europe. In all my years cycling (the good old days ), I never explored the wilds of counties Galway and Mayo but was fascinated by them both on that recent trip. Great camera work, marvellous scenery and enthusiastic commentary from you both. I trust that Touratech is enjoying the coverage. Thanks again.
Hi Brian, that's great to hear you have also experiences this wonderful area! Roundstone is the perfect place to stop for lunch. 6 out of 7 aint bad 😊, we were also really fortunate with teh weather although we were prepared for rain it stayed away the whole time we were in Ireland. Thanks very much for your kind words of encouragement - it really means a lot to us to get feedback like this. Yeah i think they are as are we grateful to them for providing us with such great gear. Hi Stevie, oh really! Must be the place to go to then 😊 and yeah the people that run it are lovely and helped us change our route so not to miss things which we appreciated. Thanks very much Mike, we have felt very welcome by everyone that we have met. Fantastic people and beautiful landscapes have made for an unforgettable experience 😎
Great film again Sean & Emily, nice to see the walk through Galway, and the route west through Roundstone heading to Clifton. The 1st cafe you passed, opposite the Harbour makes the most amazing Sea Chowder if you like fish soup 😃 I didn't know I liked fish chowder until I tried it there, It's such a pity the sun wasn't out for your ride, as Connemara is so beautiful in the sun. At least now I know the roads you are on as I have been on many biking weekends to Connemara, The sky road is great and I am guessing you may have ended up in Leenane/Leenaun Village when you drove the road by the Fjord. Brilliant video as ever and looking forward to Sky Road and Fjord, both of which I have rode many times 😃
Hi Tim, thanks very much. Not really fans of Sea food but hopefully someone else might visit there and like it 😊 The color of the water in this area is spectacular and the white sand beaches too! If it was warmer we might have been tempted to get in! Really enjoyed the Sky Road (both of them) and yeah that's right we headed to the Fjord. But Hotels in Leenane/Leenaun were like 200euro+ so we pressed onto Westport and got a room in a pub for 80 and had the best night ever in the town 😎
@@SeanandEmily Yes the Leenaun Hotel is great, I've stayed there many times, but it was out of season, so a lot cheaper, Westport is a great lively town, I'm sure you had a blast! 😀😀

Hi, Yeah we do head for Leenaun, we had planned to stay there but hotel prices where incredibly expensive so we pressed onto Westport and had to miss the Doolough valley as it was getting late certainly a place to visit next time. Yeah it's a lovely café and the owner is really nice and helped us with our route, which we changed to his suggestions. Did we read correctly that Roundstone was established by a Scotsman and it attracted Scottish fishermen? -maybe that's where the anglicised translation came from 🤔 Anyway a fantastic ride and beautiful landscapes 😊
Hi Eddie, yeah some spectacular rides on the West Coast! We have really enjoyed every minuet of it -just wish there was a few more hours in a day 😊 -i guess that's why people keep coming back.
Enjoyed that section, love Roundstone and stayed in Clifden, great bars and live music, happy days! PS. The roads are uneven because they are built on peat😉
