Would regular heat gun work instead of hot air welder? I can't find your modified cement at my Home Depot store but there's a rubberized wet patch, would that work instead?
Hello Mickey! Yes, a heat gun can probably adequately heat the compound on our Self-adhered membranes on over-granule conditions. The concern is if the tool being used has a thin enough nozzle to get under the lap properly and still be able to hand roll it completing the bonding process. Additionally, it is important to be sure that no open flame torch or excessive heat be used on Self-adhered membranes. As for finding PolyGlass 500 or PolyPlus 50 we suggest that he try a major specialized Roofing Supply store such as ABC, SRS, or Gulfeagle. If that is unsuccessful a high-quality Modified Flashing Cement should work, but we strongly suggest they stick with the Polyglass mastic. For more info please contact our Technical representatives: (866) 794-9659. Thank you.
