To the people in the comments. KERS isn't in F1 this year. This year it's called ERS and instead of the 6 second boost it gives a 30 second boost. The boost IS NOT controlled by the driver and is instead automatically controlled by the cars electronics.
Great first look, enticing me to take note of the forthcoming review - and in a funny way, speaking as a native European guy, it's nice to see an American driving in F1 - even if it's in a sim/game environment, not enough of you guys in Formula 1 behind the wheel the last few years.
i think f1 2014 is fantastic. you trully feel the car. its great you actually enjoy the driving. its very good. to think of the old driving code we use to get. this is amazing
17:24 the sense of speed is there. somewat, i would still love to see a customisable blurring effect in sim games, even a slight one. and when darin hits those speed bumps the car moves and the view does aswell but the view should be shocked all over the place to really show how hard it is running over them in such a low solid car. might purchase for PC.
I notice you, like a lot of people playing this, are over revving the engine between shifts. Clearly going by the sound of the engine and not the rev limiter indicators on the wheel. If you shift when prompted it'll grip better at lower revs in lower gears.
I'll be giving this a shot since it's an F1 game but I'm pretty sure it'll be one of those I try for a few hours and then abandon it. I miss the time when EA had the F1 game rights. Those were great!
When Barrichello had his accident in Canada this season eh? You mean Bottas and Perez? ;) Also starting in the 2013 season, they restricted DRS to the designated zones only. Also as for the rev limiter, the v6 turbos this year are restricted to a 15,000 rpm maximum per regulations. However, most teams shift at around the 12,000 rpm mark. First to save fuel because of the 100kg max fuel / 100kg per hour fuel rate. Secondly to allow for better traction in the lower gears for when the turbo starts screaming at them. So their dashes are usually coded to have the rev lights max out at around this mark to avoid confusion on where they would like them to shift.
Drivers shift at around 12k RPM because that's the top of the power curve for the new turbo hybrid engines. Beyond that point no extra power or torque is gained, so revving to 15,000 RPM would just be a waste as there is no benefit.
It should feel more difficult to lay down the power because that's one of the changes they made in real life. We've seen the real drivers struggling with it.
I just wanted to see how Darin manages to handle these beasts of cars - and he does a good job. For me the cars feel much more difficult to handle than the 2013ths because of the brutal sudden kick of the turbo. Below the turbo you have too less power but when it comes in for me it's very hard to control the rear. Perhaps just a question of practice.
Would think Americans will suit Nascar more than F1 at the end of the day. Talking about Mercedes dominating, let's talk about Red Bull dominating for the past 4 years with 1 driver. At least there's 2 drivers competing for the WDC this year
MrBryan86 Don't like NASCAR and I don't like seeing one team win every race. The Red Bull years were boring too. Yes the Rosberg / Hamilton WDC is close this year.. Would be nice to see any other team up there winning without the Mercedes breaking though.
MrBryan86 I think its just that the F1 coverage here in the states isn't very good. It could be that whole elitist mentality F1 Bernie Eccelstone has. By that i mean he views F1 as an event fans must go to rather than F1 trying to attract fans. Quiet understandable seeing as F1 is considered to be the pinnacle in automotive racing technology. That and the 2005 US grand Prix debacle. With that you can see why Nascar and Indycar is more prevalent in the US. Inside Sim Racing The Red Bull years weren't so bad. The 2010 was very close WDC between 4 drivers, unless you aren't counting that since that was the start of the domination. There were some exciting moments in 2011 tons of action and drama up and down the field especially the fight for 2nd place. It isn't as glamorous as 1st but not every team has the money and the resources to perform at that level. 2012 kicked things off with a bang in first half with have 8 different winners in the first 8 rounds, and if it wasn't for a couple DNFs, Alonso might have taken that year seeing as he only had a 3 point deficit in the end. there was some issue with tire sensitivity, but you must have alteast enjoyed the first half of this season. Also had the neat novelty of having 6 world champions racing in one season lol. In 2013 intra-team drama/battles and tires became the focal point. Those HD tires did cause a ton of problems for some tames while other like Force India benefited from it which was until Silverstone happened. Even with tire issue, there was still some great battles up and down the field and both Sutil and Hulkenberg also had some time to shine by punching way above their weight. All in all those weren't bad seasons. With 2010 and 2012 being the most exciting out of the 4
MrBryan86 Red Bull didn't dominate for 4 years. They've won, yes, but in '10 and '12 it was quite close between Vettel and Alonso. '11 and '13 were domination seasons, for sure. The problem is the FIA can't keep its filthy fingers off the rules, they just wanna play scrambled eggs every year.
Oh trust me i know Sky's coverage so i won't "search it"(sorry but i hate people i don't know telling me or I perceive to tell me what to do as opposed to suggesting/asking. Unless they are designated to do so, like a boss, teacher, doctor, etc etc.). I love Ted's notebook! However, I do like listening to DC and Eddie commentate on the race on the BBC side. However, as i have said before, our coverage is not very good. Maybe Gene Haas will bring in more awareness and give F1 some fans from Nascar and Indycar. In comparison to those two, us American F1 fan seem very far and few in between. However, I like to think they most of the fans in COTA and even in Indianapolis when they used to race there were mostly US fans. You know what else could be a deterrent for us Americans? The race times. It starts pretty early in the morning, and in the case for where i live in Hawaii, it start at 2am. Sure its not as bad as the rest of the continental US, but its still at an inconvenient time. I'm not sure what you mean by "paying for export". If you're talking about the world feed, well we get it. If you meant sending the crew like BBC and Sky does, we still have Will Buxton and a camera crew at every race, and i believe NBC sports sent everyone to Monaco, and maybe Spa and Singapore. I'm not sure on the last two.
How can you say this season is boring? It's one if the most entertaining seasons, I've seen in years! Especially with the Hamilton/Rosberg war. It's just like Senna/Prost, all over again!
In cockpit view they over exaggerated the wheel moving when just driving straight. Gonna make making fine adjustments more difficult because i wont be able to tell if im moving ever so slightly to the right or left or its just that stupid mini movements for no reason.
Well, it's true: It is very similar to F1 2013, but I am still going to get it! 1: The last F1 game I played was 2011. 2. I was this year at Hockenheim, so I want that...well..nostalgic experienced? :D And also: I like the new cars, which are different :)
Don't drivers use KERS anymore? KERS was a fun aspect of gameplay, in my opinion. I know they expanded it this year, but I though drivers still trigger it manually.
Is the rev counter supposed to be like that? I'm kinda of confused when it's on the maximum rev counter, but the engine is still going to its maximum limit above the rev counter? Is it because of the engine inside the car? I'm a bit confused.
Hey Darin just want to know what sim has features like marbles from the tyres and if you drive on the marbles you have less grip Dynamic racing line where it changers (darken/more grip) the more you drive on it. When it stops raining and the track is wet but eventually dries up and forms a dry line and if your still on intermediate/wet tyres you have to keep them cool by driving on the wet sections on the track. Thanks mate Abraham
Abraham Elmo Yes it does feature marbles. I ran a 25% race at Sochi today that I will be posting hopefully tonight and I run over some marbles. No dynamic racing line though and I haven't driven in the rain but I don't think you have to keep them cool by driving in the wet. I may be wrong though.
Should I buy a steering wheel for the PS4 since my g27 will not be compatible. What do you recommend between t300gte and T500RS. buy the T500RS f1 and then add the gte steering wheel. then I want to know the differences between motor and pedal ffb
Wow, Darin... Rubens Barrichello? Really? He's been out of Formula 1 for 3 yrs now. I'd say you haven't watched any of it this year. LOL!! It was Felipe Massa not Barrichello...
Codies are doing disservice by releasing F1 on old gen.. this only means that PS4/X1 editions are compromised. I will skip a 2nd year in a row by skipping F1 game. What they should have done, is to build a completely new engine and make it a proper new gen entry. That would be awesome! I will wait and see how the Ps4 version looks but dont have much hope tbh.
I think that didn´t get the right sound of the F1 cars of this season. I hate the new real sound of the new ´power units´ but this game sounds better than real cars :-) I prefer everything as real as possible, even when the new real sound is not good.
hi ISR, was thinking to build sim racing cockpit.. Can i Ask? 1. Do T300RS support PS3 Grid Autosport? 2. Do TH8RS support PS3 Grid Autosport? 3. Do DashMeterPro Support Grid Autosport in PS3? 4. IF DashMeterPro doesn't support PS3, do u know any apps that do support?( IOS better if got)
zzhkszz This is a list of games that are supported by the T300 ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=3&fid=15&pid=375&cid=12 This is for the TH8RS ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=3&fid=15&pid=320&cid=12 Dashmeter Pro is for the PC only. There's no apps like that for the PS3.
Khyber VT I have that wheel, t500rs with f1 add on, and when i saw the title, and the video, i didnt see that t300, but t500rs f1 add on, and that's the reason i posted :)
I think you were losing a lot of time cos you weren't using any of the allotted KERS time (using the electric motors for that bhp boost). This year is up to 30 some seconds per lap from only 6 from past seasons.
So people call this joke of a game "fun"? No people, get yourselves F1 Challgenge 99-02. Not only do the cars look a LOT better, the tracks are also a LOT more fun to play (Especially because some curves are more difficult, but also because tracks like San Marino and the old Hockenheim with the insanely long straights),and let's not forget the lovely and clear V10 engine sounds, the funny as Hell physics (They are good, look up some F1 Challenge 99-02 crash compilations) and best of all,MODS! Yes that's right, there are mods all the way up to 2014 for this game. Here's some information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EA_Sports_F1_series And here's a guy who plays the Single Player. Go and sub him too,he really needs more attention. ruclips.net/user/AlexStoppXboxfeatured Oh,and i forgot to mention that this game was made by EA and was made in 2003. Go people,go and get yourself that game, either by buying it on eBay or trough torrent sites,it's a lot more fun than this shit.
If you have a lot of money and patience, Fanatec is going with this approach: a set wheelbase and different wheels for Xbox/PS4, because apparently it's quite difficult to get an official licence now if the wheel works with both.
Another poor attempt by Codies... purely aimed at the console market. This is and should be titled a "game" as it is clearly not a "simulator". One thing that annoys me is the "simulated" pit stops... you have zero control over them. Another drawback is the inability to adjust the cockipt view, whether it be forwards or backwards or up and down. Thank God for Assetto Corsa.
Inside Sim Racing Asetto Corsa is still in beta stage and will have does have user operated pit stops ie. You drive the car into the pits and out again. .not fully automated like F1 and if you would have seen the latest A/C videos pit stops with pit crew are being added.
Anthony Lee I know it's still in beta but about to have v 1.0 released which takes it out of "beta". I'm not referring to an automated pit stop, just one where the tires are changed and fuel added. What Im saying is that you can't run a long race and do that yet. I have that image of the animated pits at our site here www.isrtv.com/assetto-corsa/assetto-corsa-press-event-vallelunga-previews/ so I'm very familiar with that too. . AC is a great title and I love it, but there's still a lot left for them to do to make it a true simulation. The F1 titles can simulate a full race with safety cars and pit strategy, AC can't yet ;-)
Inside Sim Racing I realise that... but one of the most important factors in an F1 race is "PIT STOPS"..races can be won and lost in the pits and Codemasters have taken that all important aspect out of the drivers hands entirely!! I want to be able to drive into the pit MYSELF and drive out of the pit MYSELF... not enter the pit lane...step away /make a cup of tea and return only to find im back on track again...the pit stop is a crucial component in a race.. Codemasters advertising slogan was something along the lines of " Be the driver"..they failed to add.... "Except in the pit stops"..
Im sorry but this is badddd! Unfortunately you need a bit of F1 background if you want to properly review the game. Dont know the lines, no feel of throttle push while spinning, terrible downshifting and so on... But thanks for sharing
You mean the reviewer driving and playing F1 2014? He knows what he is doing, he is pretending to be a not experienced driver to give the viewers the illusion that the games he reviews are more simulation-like than they are in reality. He has done this trick (and many other tricks too) a lot of times in the past, you can check his other videos and notice how he is driving in a much different and more serious way in the more sim games. Shams sell games, just a hint for you, just in case ...
How about we turn you off you dont seem to have a clue what your talking about, haha ( In Ref to the guy that keeps saying you have assists on ) Cheers Darin

Power starts falling off dramatically over 11k RPM because of the fuel flow limit
I probably won't get a Formula 1 game until I see one on the new generation consoles. Great video though
It should feel more difficult to lay down the power because that's one of the changes they made in real life. We've seen the real drivers struggling with it.
The engine sounds seem to be taken from a car in dirt 2 with little adjustments, definitely.

It's good to see them going into a more sim direction, though it looks like there is just grip on or grip off and no grey zone :/
Nice video! But I might skip this one and wait for 2015!

Hey I'm an amateur car enthusiast, looking to get into f1 where do I start?
How can you say this season is boring?
It's one if the most entertaining seasons, I've seen in years!
Especially with the Hamilton/Rosberg war.
It's just like Senna/Prost, all over again!
The 2014 F1s redline is much lower than the old ones, around 10-11000 RPMs.
In cockpit view they over exaggerated the wheel moving when just driving straight. Gonna make making fine adjustments more difficult because i wont be able to tell if im moving ever so slightly to the right or left or its just that stupid mini movements for no reason.
Ahhhhhhh I want the T300 so bad ! :( As soon as it's released in US/Canada I'll get it. It will be my first sim wheel :P
I think Formula 1 2015 is coming out earlier next year for "new" gen lol this really is just a rehash of 2013 with the new car models and sound
lordcool I say that too..
Yeah i'm just leaving this one.. and wait for the Next Gen version.☺
Well and the turbo lag! Watch that ass end haha
Fred Schriks you going to be waiting a long time for next gen.... ps5 and xbox two are a long ways away
Khyber VT smart ass.. you know what i mean !
would like to see your race in the caterham
We'll I'm getting f1 2014 on my birthday is on oct 24 I can't wait
It was not baraichelo who crashed in the Canadian Grand Prix it was massa! Baraichelo retired two years ago
Enaam Ahmed Yes I realized that after this video. I knew it was an ex Ferrari driver and got them mixed up.
When he picked Monza i was like oh great now we get to see the easiest circuit he could have chosen...
Well, it's true: It is very similar to F1 2013, but I am still going to get it! 1: The last F1 game I played was 2011. 2. I was this year at Hockenheim, so I want that...well..nostalgic experienced? :D And also: I like the new cars, which are different :)
I'm so pissed they didn't make this game for Ps4 or Xbox one I love the formula 1 series
Early next year, F1 2015 for next gen.
Hell yeah!!!!! Thanks for letting me know man
i love formula 1 it is the best motorsport entertainment ever in the world.
Don't drivers use KERS anymore? KERS was a fun aspect of gameplay, in my opinion. I know they expanded it this year, but I though drivers still trigger it manually.
There's no KERS this year, but ERS, which is deployed automatically by the car itself
22:12 - Barrichello in the Williams!? His last race was in 2011...
I think its safe to say Darin is pretty far from being an F1 fan :-)
Dang it.. I was trying to focus on racing and am horrible with names. I meant Massa.. I was right about it being an ex Ferrari driver ;-)
Is Darin a console racer now?
If you say "Barrichello on the Williams" is more of a couple of races that you lost touch
José Daniel Durán Salgado I meant to say Massa
Hey Darin, can you race Russia please. Because it's a track almost no one has seen.
Is the rev counter supposed to be like that? I'm kinda of confused when it's on the maximum rev counter, but the engine is still going to its maximum limit above the rev counter? Is it because of the engine inside the car? I'm a bit confused.
Hey Darin just want to know what sim has features like marbles from the tyres and if you drive on the marbles you have less grip
Dynamic racing line where it changers (darken/more grip) the more you drive on it.
When it stops raining and the track is wet but eventually dries up and forms a dry line and if your still on intermediate/wet tyres you have to keep them cool by driving on the wet sections on the track.
Thanks mate
Abraham
Abraham Elmo Yes it does feature marbles. I ran a 25% race at Sochi today that I will be posting hopefully tonight and I run over some marbles. No dynamic racing line though and I haven't driven in the rain but I don't think you have to keep them cool by driving in the wet. I may be wrong though.
Would this game be worth running out and getting for $25 while waiting for Project Cars?
Should I buy a steering wheel for the PS4 since my g27 will not be compatible. What do you recommend between t300gte and T500RS. buy the T500RS f1 and then add the gte steering wheel. then I want to know the differences between motor and pedal ffb
Yeah, Mercedes dominates but the racing is the best of the last seasons!
Wow, Darin... Rubens Barrichello? Really? He's been out of Formula 1 for 3 yrs now. I'd say you haven't watched any of it this year. LOL!! It was Felipe Massa not Barrichello...
How did you connect the T300 to F1 2014 on ps3? It does not detect it to me
Can u adjust the feel of the pedal?
I'm not buying ANY games that are still last gen. I don't own a PS4 of Xbone yet, but I'd rather wait.
Ur wife must love that sound onnnnnn onnnnnnn onnnnn..... :)
Codies are doing disservice by releasing F1 on old gen.. this only means that PS4/X1 editions are compromised. I will skip a 2nd year in a row by skipping F1 game. F1 2014 is for 360/PS3, Codemasters is releasing F1 2015 in January and it is only for next gen consoles and probably PC, so they aren't compromised.

4. IF DashMeterPro doesn't support PS3, do u know any apps that do support?( IOS better if got)
zzhkszz This is a list of games that are supported by the T300 ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=3&fid=15&pid=375&cid=12
This is for the TH8RS ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=3&fid=15&pid=320&cid=12
Dashmeter Pro is for the PC only. There's no apps like that for the PS3.
Should have done Sochi.
Your wheel is T500RS F1 not T300
MikaTechnika Wrong.. It's a T300 with the F1 Rim
why you so wrong? man said it's a t300...you must be new here
Khyber VT I have that wheel, t500rs with f1 add on, and when i saw the title, and the video, i didnt see that t300, but t500rs f1 add on, and that's the reason i posted :)
I think you were losing a lot of time cos you weren't using any of the allotted KERS time (using the electric motors for that bhp boost). This year is up to 30 some seconds per lap from only 6 from past seasons.
KERS has been replaced with ERS-H and ERS-K and is deployed automatically.
Drive Once the car from Louis Hamilton plese
How do you get the f1 2014 build
Simon Willey It's out October 20th
Other youtubers had the build and it said F1 2014 work in progress so how did you get it because it's not on the playstation store
Hmm. This is piquing my interest BECAUSE it is on last ten hardware. It's the only new racing game that my wheel isn't useless for.
Blegh.... The sounds of these cars is the main reqson why I'm not buying this game... BRING BACK THE V10'S!!!!
Taking the turns too tight!
Is that steering wheel applicable with the xbox one?
Thomas van Asperen No you would have to get the TX wheel for the XBox One.
Can't i use the f1 t500 integral?
You look a little tired, dude. Could use a good break! ...or maybe ya had a few beers before u started this video?! lol
So people call this joke of a game "fun"?

Oh,and i forgot to mention that this game was made by EA and was made in 2003.
Go people,go and get yourself that game, either by buying it on eBay or trough torrent sites,it's a lot more fun than this shit.
is there anyone gaming wheel that work for Xbox one,ps4,ps3 and PC?
No
If you have a lot of money and patience, Fanatec is going with this approach: a set wheelbase and different wheels for Xbox/PS4, because apparently it's quite difficult to get an official licence now if the wheel works with both.
Anthony Lee I agree to some extent but then you mention a PC title that doesn't have pit stops ;-)
