    i really appreciate the US of the sovereign Which was a slightly scaled down Eclipse as its never actually built in universe but lit looks SO COOL and seeing SMART tactics instead of the usual plot armour BS where the rebels always seem to pull an impossible win out of their ass is REALLY NICE. all the tiny details like the busted X-Wing are really awesome and really help sell the rag tag resource stripped Rebellion.

    These animations are great! You don't need amazing materials and textures when the battles adhere to such clear rules, strategies, and the like. It's also very easy to follow the combat, the fighters aren't moving like beyblades in a washing machine, the way most others animate them.

    The laser effect are honestly better than most animations i’ve seen (hell, they’re better than the modern ones). They’re much closer to what you see in the Original trilogy, being way faster and punchier. To me, that’s a much greater sign of quality for a star wars space battle animation than the scene polycount or the texture resolution. Great job.

    • @FarseerAnimation
      @FarseerAnimation  7 месяцев назад +1

      While I don't have access to traditional film or a proper array of models, I closely studied how ILM implemented the effects back in the day. The modern method tends to involve making laserbolt 'models' and sending them out realistically from ship to ship. That may technically be more accurate to how it would look but it almost always completely misses that snappy timing and visual intensity that an action scene really needs.
      All of my laserbolts and such are painted on, frame by frame so each shot feels appropriately punchy.

      @@FarseerAnimation I was smiling from ear to ear reading that comment. Thank you.
      Physical bolts always leave you with that effect of hanging in any given shot for far too long (especially when travelling parallel to your line of sight, where they eventually become immobile and visual clutter before vanishing into the distance). This, is just beautiful.

      Farseer Animation oh? I had it at in between episodes 4 and 5, when the rebels were at their strongest hot off the victory at Yavin, gaining more support and new ships, and the Empire was designing new ships and strategies of their own to counter the rebels more directly, since the Tarkin Doctrine had proven ineffective and its architect was dead. I organized my playlist accordingly(I organize it by era - stuff taken from, inspired by, or seeming like it fits in the Old Republic era comes first, then stuff from, inspired by, or fitting in the prequel trilogy, then original trilogy, and so on), and put the videos in between stuff inspired by episodes 4 and 5. Ah, well. Too late to change it, so I’ll go with my interpretation. The rebels take a lot of losses in your videos anyway, which lines up with my interpretation - by the time of Hoth, the relentless retaliation of the Empire had driven the Rebels to new hideouts like Hoth, with a lot of the starships they gained from their new allies having been destroyed in engagements, or hidden elsewhere away from Hoth.

    This is the first time I have seen your Sovereign Class SSD; however, I immediately recognized it as being closely related to the Eclipse Class SSD, given some of the ship's features. What an interesting battle, and I am quite puzzled by the Imperial commander. Whoever was commanding that fleet made decisions that resulted in the some of the Rebel fleet escaping. I was really puzzled by the decision to not keep the Interdictors in the rear and only to attack with Tie squadrons. The entire Rebel fleet would have been destroyed if the Imperial commander hadn't made those mistakes. I would have definitely taken advantage of those errors to slip surviving ships out of the system and regroup with the rest of the Alliance navy. There should be a follow up for this video wherein an Imperial Grand Admiral admonishes the Imperial officer in charge of this operation for those mistakes.

    • @unholyknight786
      @unholyknight786 2 года назад

      it's pretty typical tactic for Imperial commanders. A lot of them afraid to damage even one of their assets, so they prefer to use "disposable" equipment like fighters and bombers. In one imperial sourcebook, capitan Piett wrote about one such battle, when only his decisive actions prefer total defeat of imperial battlegroup. When Imperial fully utilises their assets - it's usually a very hard fights for the rebels.

    • @darthknightwingphoenix2081

      agreed. I didn't care about Holdo at all, because we didn't know a thing about her beforehand, and she didn't tell a single person in the Resistance about her plan despite there being no good reason to not do so, and clear evidence that it was causing a massive drop in morale, but with 3... I wanted him to survive. His ship was damaged from the get-go, but he didn't retreat. He fought on, he worked with his comrades, and it seemed like he might survive. But he sacrificed himself for his comrades, instead of choosing to let others die to ensure his own survival. His was a real underdog story of working with what you've got and overcoming fear for the sake of your comrades in arms. That speaks to me a million times more than Holdo's sacrifice ever could. Still doesn't make hyperspace ramming any less bullcrap, but it helps when there's a good character doing it.

    Great animation. Good storyline.
    This part isn’t directed at the content creator. How come is it when the Empire parks their flotilla for blockading purposes, let’s say on the daylight side of a planet, the rebel group escaping the planet doesn’t just fly low in the planets atmosphere and head to the night side of the planet, break atmosphere into space and then escape into hyperspace. They’d be clear of the imperial interdiction fields by employing this escape tactic too.

    • @tanner.h
      @tanner.h 4 года назад +3

      It's because of hyperspace lanes. To my understanding, some planets can only be accessed via one hyperspace lane. The Empire blockades access to that one hyperspace lane. If there isn't a hyperspace lane on the other side of the planet, then you can't escape through that side.
