Zwift is great, I've adapted all my bike training to be on it. According to Zwift Power I've done 1294 races. All of that isn't racing I don't think because I also do other events as well as running on it. My current race score is 906 so yes, I race a lot! Btw, the anvil pu has changes. It's now a percentage of your body weight with lighter riders getting a higher percent. It also only applies the weight on grades of -1.5% or greater. That way it has no effect if you accidently use it on a climb. Zwift is actually the way I found your channel. I always enjoy your content, keep it up!
Katie, hopefully the new points system will get us all racing in a competitive bunch of similar abilities. Kicked back in to zwift for the last zrl, well a few weeks just before, got absolutely kicked in a C cat race just getting out of the pens. Honestly Cat C is like old Cat B... I think they have tweaked the thresholds up by about 0.2w/kg per Cat. Wait until your score catches up with you, even with the racing points system it is full on!! Oh! the draft function is probably slightly different, the draft cone is narrower, so if your avatar is pushed out to the side - nada draft. Also to move up in the bunch, or to pass, you have to do more watts than the guy/gal in front.( A bit like the old sticky draft) ( This also means that you can waste a lot of watts sitting on the wheel of someone if you are just matching or slightly less watts than them where you could be doing 40w less --- try following a group at the back to see what or how little you can get away with)
You can tell straight away that it's going to be a hard effort - the hair's up 😄 Zwift racing is great for improving fitness. Just treat it as one of your hard interval sessions for the week or a spicy group ride. If any Zwifters out there haven't tried it, give it a go it's great fun. There are road races and time trials, something to suit everyone. I'm just prepping for a TTT again tonight as part of the BlueLight Cycling Club, but the choice of events and/or leagues is huge. PS: If there are any other members of the UK emergency services, NHS or armed forces out there that need a club on Zwift and in real life, get in touch 😃
I'm doing my 200th race today... Was never interested in racing until I tried it, now I can't get enough. If you've never tried it, give it a go... Just remember not to be upset if you get dropped, I spent my first few months racing in C getting dropped later and later until I could stay attached, then managed to win a few, now I'm a B rider (well, racing score equivalent B anyway!) and back to getting dropped again!
Love Zwift! You’re totally right about pushing yourself harder on Zwift. Community is amazing and so welcoming, there’s always something for everyone to do. Finally upgraded to a direct drive trainer and it made the experience even better. Going to try racing this winter!
What I cannot understand is why you haven't raced on zwift last year, but I'm new to the channel so it might have some reason I have no clue about. Keep it up!
@@roadcyclist1 Each to the own I suppose. Have started racing on IV recently and I find it perfectly fine, even better in some cases with a least some performance verification. MyWoosh is fine for free riding and Workouts. Saves me £17.99 a month and gets me through winter.
Yes, do a opt in on terms and conditions to ride MW and Abu Dhabi owns all your data. Maybe ok, I have no idea. Done over 600 races, still have not seen a single woman from that part of the world on any platform
Hi Katie, love the videos... quick question about the shokz headphones. They look quite a close fit around your head.... do you have the standard size or the mini?... I see photos on the shokz website with the head band sticking out quite a way, but I think I'd prefer a closer fit.
the zwift racing score is hilarious. it really favours lighter riders. it's got you at 183 with 189watt average at 2.9 w/kg. my last race was also 2.9 w/kg and i needed to do 295watts to to that but my score is 478 so i'm with much harder riders.
I'm an A rider on Zwift and my ZRS is 584. My last race was 4.2 and I only have 110 more points than you. I always race in the 700+ category, and although I finish in the main group, I lose points every time. But the group zwift wants me to ride in is too easy - not to win (I have no sprint), but just riding near the front is too easy.
@@blackflamesolutions526 i've only done 2 races since being moved up from d to c group haha. yet my score is still high. but my 15s sprint is 1100W+ which is i think is why it's keeping me in score a high RCS group
Yeah I am constantly getting beaten by riders with racing scores 100+ points lower than me. I was massively over placed I am an old mid to lower cat C rider but somehow I got an initial placing of 470 which puts me against top C low B riders and predictably I am currently dropping down the rankings, I recon in a month or so I will plateau out to a score that is better reflection of where I am 90kg with 2.9w/kg should be 370-410 I recon ( maybe lower )
@@jacquelinelejoly3920 you don't need a team. I race solo every monday. make sure in the companion or in game your filters are set to include showing races.
Love your content, katie. After using zwift for two winters I got annoyed with the disgraceful cost of the platform. The fact it's easy to cheat can be annoying aswell. I suppose the social side is OK but again, it can't justify being more than £3 a month. There's too much greed in cycling as it is.
£3 really? I think Zwift is expensive but it also offers the most of all the apps. Rouvy is nearly as expensive but is just completely empty, MyWhoosh is free but is only that way because of sportswashing and indievelo is half a product and soon to cost as much as Zwift now it has been bought.
Love Zwift racing but this video kind of shows what is currently wrong with it. Zwift has just launched their racing score ( ZRS ) system and tons of riders are in the wrong categories. Katie is in the bottom category in this race where as her w/kg will be about 2 to 3 times more than people that are actually meant to be in it. Riders with ZRS of 250 are beating people with scores of 400 or more. It should become good but at the moment it probably needs 2 or 3 months to get people correctly rated.
I just got a Zwift Ride and I’m enjoying it so much!!

Impressive, Katie
Any change, or any system, some will complain, and the ones who are most loud, are the ones who lost in the process. Racers race, no matter the system

I never tried Zwift yet, it looks fun 😊
Is Zwift Racing Score better? Lots of people disagree. Zwift has community but good to see MW and IndieVelo pushing for things to change.
Both of those are absolutely terrible. Borderline unplayable!!

Quick question: do you find the races in the events list in the app? I don’t see races in the schedule events 😮
Do i need to join a team to participate to races?

Good on you, finishing 3rd. Love a sprint finish.
Did my first Zwift since knee injury today, just a circuit. Little steps to get stronger.
