Yes! Two pillows and a sun shirt - what I plan to bring too! One for my head and one for between my knees as I always sleep on my side and my knees need cushioning! And also hate using sunscreen!
LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only one that needs that knee pillow. I truly detest sunscreen - even though I really need it. The sun shirt is priceless! Thanks so much for watching!
I went on a bit of a rant when I was on one section of that trail that gets a ton of use. Someone pooped all over a perfectly great campsite (and hard to come by flat spot). I will be putting that rant on part 2 of the Tahoe Rim Trail thru-hike. I might have to edit or beep out a couple words in the video though.
Thanks for watching! I was surprised at how great I felt - especially since I wasn't eating all that much. We averaged 12 to 17 miles per day and I had plenty of energy. The worst part for me was the heat in the afternoon. That was a struggle-fest. I brought back a lot of food, so the next trip will definitely be lighter on the food department. My favorite things was the olives and cheese. I could live on that stuff! I was also intermittent fasting. We usually had dinner between 4 and 6 PM, and wouldn't eat lunch until 12 or 1. Most of our mileage had been knocked out by then, and I felt amazing!
Ready to take on that mileage and terrain, very impressive. I'm always amazed at the level of preparation. I can be too reckless and would likely forget several vital items. 🧐🎭😁🙋 Big like and support from Wisconsin! 🙋🚜🧀🍻
I'm super afraid I'm going to forget something. Paralysis by analysis. I just need to go and get this done. I think I might have too much food, so I left some things out of my resupply. I know I won't die of starvation with a store or restaurant within walking distance. LOL!
I ended up leaving a few things behind at my first resupply. And I packed way too much food. LOL! Good luck with sorting it out. I think we all struggle with too much gear.
My water worked out really well. I ended up ditching the 3 liter bladder and used Smartwater bottles to carry the extra water I needed for the dry camps. It worked out really well. Since we had so many long water hauls, the filter worked out really well. I could fill up the bag, and let it filter into my water bottles. I was usually carrying at least 3 liters on most sections. Heading to Idaho tomorrow!!!
I have both the Scout and the Expedition. My friend has the Weekender that I've borrowed before. But the Scout had more than enough room for me. I think I could get 7 days of food into that thing. Tips? Bring an umbrella for all those blasted exposed sections of trail. It was soooooo hot! Smartwater bottles were awesome for carrying extra water too. And you can smoosh them down a bit when they are empty. Oh...and I gave up my chair at Echo Lakes. Sigh...and I missed it, but not the one pound of extra weight!
Yep! I used some bungee cord and threaded it around the hip belt, and through the two buckles and out through the loop at the bottom. I recently found a couple of lightweight bands to hold the outer edges of the pad so they don’t flap around (which got annoying after a while). Let me know if you want a close up and I can do a short video of it.
Those sandals are the best! Our longest carry was 5 days of food - but I brought a LOT back with me. Trying to dial in my food intake is a struggle! For some reason, I'm worried about starving on trail, but I'm never hungry. LOL!
Oops! I have a duplicate of the backpack clip. At least it is super short! Feel free to ask any questions. I'll do my best to answer them!
Your gear layout looks great. Stay safe and enjoy your trip Maryann.
Thanks!

Thanks Doug!

Watching on the big screen, makes you look like a movie star Maryann 🌟🤩. Great video by the way. Nice to see what you carry
LOL! I'm not so sure on the movie star thing. LOL! But thanks Wiley!
I start in a week!! Hope you're enjoying your hike right this moment. :)
You must be on your hike now...I'm jealous. I'm ready to go again! I hope you are having a amazing trip!
Great set of gear! Look forward to hearing how the hike went.
And totally agree with you TP statement. Pack it out!
Just finished the vid. Interested to hear more about staying keto on the trail. I too am Keto and find it hard to stay so on the trail.

@@MaryannHazel food management is where I struggle. I Always over pack!
@@two-soxhikes1104 - I think I have this deep-rooted belief that I’m going to starve on the trail. LOL! We pack our fears for sure!

Hello my new friend nice video thanks fro sharing, watching here from Philippines.
Thanks and welcome!
I like that katadyn gravity filter. It’s a bit of a hassle when you’re on trail. I gots ta go to Amazon now and find that water bottle sipper. 👍

Awesome thank you! I just finished thru-hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail and released Part 1 today. Thanks for watching!
@@MaryannHazel great will catch up with it shortly 👍🏼🔥
Great video! Got some tips/ideas I can use :-) Is the bearikade the scout or the weekender?

Awesome video. Have the same bag just curious did you add straps to hold that pad at the bottom of the pack?

I just got those Xero Sandals and I absolutely love them. Also how many days of food are you carrying between resupplies?
Those sandals are the best! Our longest carry was 5 days of food - but I brought a LOT back with me. Trying to dial in my food intake is a struggle! For some reason, I'm worried about starving on trail, but I'm never hungry. LOL!
Wooohooo!
That’s a lot of crap! No wonder it’s so heavy. 💪🏾
Haha! It builds character! 🤣
What make us your bear canister ?
Thx
I used the Bearikade Scout on this trip. Thanks for watching!
