      The laws for eviction exist for a reason. The fact that the landlord took matters into her own hands is a net harm for civilized society. Another less scrupulous landlord could evict anyone regardless of I they paid rent if the landlord, in this case, was not adequately sanctioned by the courts.

    • @Mike_Jones281
      @Mike_Jones281 Год назад +11

      @Amanda Of course, civilized people pay rent. I was not implying that civilized people don't pay rent. However, if we allow landlords to kick people out without a court order or some form of due process, that would incentives a system where a landlord could charge someone rent and then kick them out regardless of if the tenant paid rent or tenant doing outrageous things to stay where they are not legally entitled to stay in.
      For example, a landlord could jack up the rates on the property and kick you out if you don't pay the increased rent, which happens a lot, especially in areas where gentrification occurs.
      Another example would be a tenant ignoring a court order to vacate and the landlord trying to evict the squatter on their own, thus leading to domestic disturbance or some form of law enforcement intervention.
      These laws in the books simply exist to prevent the situation from escalating to a point where lives and property are at risk or to prevent a party to the contract from disrupting the economics of a fragile system.

    The legal system caters to a lot of low lives. It’s completely crazy for a landlord to go to court to get payment from/remove a tenant, the judge gives an order that she has to leave by April 1st, of course the tenant doesn’t do that, but the landlord can’t use that order to do an immediate eviction and lock the tenant out??? Instead have to go back to court and go through an eviction process , who do they think is paying the rent in the meantime???
    She should not have to pay a fine or get a misdemeanor. The government has free homeless shelters and section 8 , if you don’t have a place to go.

    When someone admits they know how to work the system, as the Plaintiff did, I automatically lose all respect for them. The Defendant- TOP NOTCH- LOVE HER- she didn't give 2 f's about tossing the Plaintiff's crap outside and I respect her immensely for that. To the Plaintiff- take some responsibility in your life and quit mooching off the system and more importantly, decent hard working people.

    Although I dont condone what she did, the defendant is a real one. She was completely and brutally honest about what she did and was ready and willing to fully accept all the consequences that would come with her actions without regret. She made no pretenses or excuses. The plaintiff chose the wrong one to play with.

    If I had to rent and someone said they needed their property back, even if inconvenient, I would never wait until a court date and the last ordered date to leave. It makes no sense.
    My friend tried to be a landlord and it was terrible, so much damage to the property they could not afford to rehab it and had to foreclose.

      it happens more than you think. It's common actually. I was ordered to leave my house no later than March 1st. and on March 1st we finally finished cleaning the house out and left at 10pm that night. It was 17 years of stuff that filled a 1600+ sq foot home, it sometimes takes time to find storage, and most of the stuff got thrown out and the rest stuffed into my sedan. I bought that house in 2004 and was made to leave, the new owners waited for me, it was only theirs when I walked over that threshold, and only then.
