I actually buy old programming books online - they're usually pretty cheap, and you learn some interesting things about the progression of different programming languages. Books are great! And way to find the silver lining - great video!
Hey man, I'm going through the same thing about not being used to reading books ever. Like not even one per year. In july of this year i bought a few interesting books and I've been hooked to them ever since, reading one after the other. I want to recommend a few of them to you, since we're going through similar situations: Como fazer amigos e influenciar pessoas, do Dale Carnegie (um dos melhores livros que já li, não é tão perverso quanto o nome faz parecer) Hábitos Atômicos (ensina a implementar hábitos melhores na tua vida e dificultar hábitos ruins) Anyway, great content! Keep going!
Good video man. I always struggle the habit of reading, and most of the time I have the same problem. This is actually a good idea that I'll try. Thanks!! OFF TOPIC: It's really good to see a Brazilian making videos in English. It's a really good way to practice and test your self.
Right now, I'm forcing myself to read a technical book. Addiction to social media is just prejudicing my attention. I will start reading Lord of the rings, following your advice. Great video, man. Wish you good reading!
Amazing. I love books It's like speaking with the dead. I have read over 900 books and counting ☺️ Keep doing It! I can give you something recommendations
Ótimo vídeo! Como você aprendeu inglês? Qual sua história com esse idioma? Se você aprendeu na adolescência ou depois de adulto, talvez desse um video interessante.
I'll check it out. I set the same goals recently as well and also targeted sci-fi. I recommend Wool, the first book of the Silo series. It was a fun read. Journey to the Center of the earth by Jules Verne was boring. I'm now on Neuromancer and will probably start the 2nd book of the Silo series next. Good habit to have outside of programming
Funny enough, I had a similar epiphany a few weeks ago and decided to start building the habit of reading books. I’ve never liked social media and only use it when necessary, but my hobbies have always been gaming, watching movies, and series. All of that involves being in front of a screen, and it has become quite difficult to find something I truly enjoy. Most of the time, I spend more time searching for something to watch or play than actually doing those things. So, I decided to start reading books related to the movies I like, and that’s when I bought The Hobbit about a week ago. I already finished it and now I can’t stop. I bought The Lord of the Rings and started reading it, and I have many other books in mind, mainly fantasy and philosophy. I’m also not in the mood to read anything technical for now-I want things that distance me from work, things I enjoy.
I have to admit, I've often also spent way more time researching a game or movie than actually playing or watching it. Good thing we found books to rescue us from this loop!
Brazil: bans Twitter.
Gigachad Daniel: doesn't need social media, reads a book instead.
When life gives you lemons, you gotta make lemonade 😂

I started to read books related to my hobbies (running, tenis, etc.) to don't be always just overthinking about tech.
It's healthy to disconnect from the tech world from time to time!
I really liked this content even though it is not something technical. It actually reminded me of reading books, thanks Daniel.

Thanks! We have to take advantage of the Twitter ban in Brazil to stop using social media 😅
Great habit! I love reading books, and I feel I got better with patience and boring activities after getting this habit.
Unfortunately, it’s a common problem in the 21st century! Thanks for sharing the topic and congrats on your progress
Thank you ❤

I'd suggest reading hobbit first.
I just love Lord of the Rings but the reading isn't so easy if you are not used to it.

Na primeira frase já dá pra saber que é brasileiro. Fala bem.
Anyone else read Dark Matter?

@@TheRealCornPop Nice! I really want to read Neuromancer as well
Would love Reading it
I'm currently reading it, on Chapter 10 :)

We are almost on the same boat bro, lol
Just bought a Paulo Coelho Novel, after that I'll switch to "The Pragmatic Programmer"
@@faisalamin001 great choice of books!
This reminded of atomic habits
I replaced books with concise and BS-free articles. Not all books, but most of them are full of unnecessary information.
@@anasouardini I think this only applies to self help. 90% of them could be summarized in less than 10 pages
Does reading manga counts ?
I'm not a manga fan, but I think it counts!
Ficou fácil largar o twitter dps do Xandão kk
Fui forçado a largar essa rede social tóxica. Minha vida só melhorou depois disso rs
