Him saying “I don’t use human logic” might be the most helpful thing I’ve heard from all of your podcasts. Sometimes things can look so good you think, there’s gotta be deer here. But like he said If there’s no sign then I ain’t huntin it. There’s a reason the deer aren’t there and you shouldn’t care why. I love that.

Do you think after passing certain deer they know the next encounter with you won't make them uncomfortable. Had a Mamma and a baby come in I passed on opening day of bow season. Possibly passed the same 2 several weeks after. 2 hunters jumped them and they came strait to my stand and stopped. Mamma looked at me and did a slight hop to take off running but stopped. Turned and walked 5 feet from my stand and walked slowly up a hill like everything was normal. What's the possibility that Mamma knew I wouldn't bother her? The way she acted in the whole way just felt like she's seen me and smelled me before.

Man you can learn so much from this show. And it shows me why I see so many more deer in one area of a property compared to another
1 question when he's talking about dates when bucks leave home range to long distance searching what regions is that for and how much does that vary from regional to region?
I'm in the north east and that sounds pretty accurate from what I've seen, I would maybe even move those dates up a week or 2

I'm telling ya I've used a great spray for years now that will help extremely when hunting sketchy winds. You'll probably laugh at me for it but deer dander from Fitzgerald's really works as a cover scent. I've used it for 25 years now and it seems to almost relax deer if the winds swirling and they get on the wrong side of your set. Another thing I've used is sweet anise seed. When hanging sets early in the year I'll broadcast the seed around the immediate area and hit it randomly through our the season. Then when I hunt a set that I've put the seed around I'll use a little diluted oil as a cover scent it works as well. I know these seem a little far fetched but it works pretty well in certain spots where the wind seems to swirl a lot or you have bad thermals
