    Thank you, thank you and thank you again. I've always been hating neck ties, but I have to wear it frequently. I've been trying my best to accept ties as a part of my life by choosing one's with music (music is my second life) motives, but it just haven't work. Then I discover a bow ties and I love it. I've immediately bought two (made in China), but I've realised, that I'll love my bow ties more if I'll do each one by myself. I've started learn how to saw step by step and now I'll try to do my first bow tie. I couldn't find any tutorial in my native language except pre tied ones or on clip on and this is unacceptable. And now I found what I need. Btw, Did I say thank you?

    Excellent tutorial, very clear and to the point. I am going to use it to make my own bow tie. Just one question, do I necessarily have to use a sewing machine?

    i dont get the final instructions. how is this put together in the end???

    • @rmcdaniel423
      @rmcdaniel423 7 лет назад

      The final instruction to put it together in the end is to fasten the bands in the back with buttons, as clearly demonstrated. That's unconventional, but very clever. However, I'm guessing you are actually asking about how the bow is formed?? That is done with a special method of tying a knot, similar to how neck ties have to be knotted. There are many useful videos showing how to tie a Bow Tie.

    Kindly teach how to draft the neck tie (that is if you know how to)
    If there's any video too please send link

    Excellent, clear instructions. Thanks.
    Just one point: isn't it better to cut the fabric on the bias?

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      I've read differing views on whether it should be bias or straight. The ones I've cut on the grain have been fine though. I think it's just a personal preference thing.

    • @Offshoreorganbuilder
      @Offshoreorganbuilder 9 лет назад

      Thanks for the information. I had heard that cutting the cloth on the bias helped to avoid the tie from getting out-of-shape, after it had been knotted many times, and most ties seem to be cut this way. On the other hand, I suppose if you are going to wear a tie only a few times, perhaps it does not matter. I'll have to try it , and see what happens!

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      Yes, honestly my husband has only worn the ones I made a few times. Thanks for the input, it will help people decide which way they want to do it.

    what size is this one for ? How many different lengths are their ? would like to know more.

    Great tutorial ! I will be trying, I just have one question, is the length of the tie universal ? I mean around the neck or do you suggest I measure the neck and add the bow tie part to it ? Thanks once again :)

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      +Lioness Throne It's a fairly universal measurement. You can always move the buttons to adjust it if necessary. However, if the intended neck is a rather large one, you may want to add some length to the straight part.

    I need to learn centimeters. Isn’t inches more popular?

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  3 года назад +1

      All the countries in Europe plus Australia use centimetres. It’s what I’ve grown up with. I’m not familiar with inches

    Do you make bow ties for childrens?
    What size should pattern have?

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      It depends on the age and size of the child. Just reduce the measurements accordingly

    Hi, i need an answer so please help me. How do you use pattern? You cut around, or first mark it with some pencil or something? What about cutting, there are 4 parts, you cut each one separatly?

    • @UtanapisztiM
      @UtanapisztiM 9 лет назад

      explain how Did you fo it with so much precision

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      Do it however you like. I pin the pattern to the fabric and cut around it. I cut 2 out at once.

    • @UtanapisztiM
      @UtanapisztiM 9 лет назад

      Doesnt it make holes on fabris if i pin it few times?
      If you use cotton, what density of fibric do you pref (g/m2)?

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      Pins don't make holes usually, unless it is plastic or leather. You can use almost any fabric. Medium weight is best, for example like something a shirt would be made of.

  • @southernstylez904

    what weight interfacing was that you used? i messed up getting 808

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  9 лет назад

      I don't know, it was some scraps I had in my box, but I light weight one. I read up the uses of 808 and I guess it's a little heavy. You want the tie stiff, but you need to be able to bend and squeeze it as you tie it. Plus if it's too stiff, you'll struggle pulling it right side out.

    How many inches - translated- for an American

    • @simplesewing
      @simplesewing  6 лет назад

      50cm = 19.7 inch.
      8cm = 3.15 inch.
      32cm = 12.6 inch.
      6cm = 2.4 inch.
      5.5cm = 2.2inch.
      6.5cm = 2.5 inch.
      2.75cm = 1.1 inch.
      3.5cm = 1.4 inch.
      1.75cm = 0.7 inch
      Approx measurements from an online calculator. I don't know how to translate these into eights and sixteenths though, I'm sorry, I'm metric!
