This song makes me cry every time. Just the finality of it, but also the joy of them finally getting to go home and be safe... All the adventures are over, but just going home and living an ordinary life again will be the new beginning of an adventure in itself. It just makes me sad that after all they've been through together they have to part ways, but they'll never forget one another. Anyone else have mixed emotions like this?? And yes, I too want this played at my funeral. It was a good ending to the movies because we were saying goodbye to the movies also. I'd love it to be played when people are saying goodbye to me.

For me, the best imagery to go with this song is a soldier visiting his fallen comrades and singing them this song to them as he begins to move on with the life they paid the ultimate price to make. It's a song from one soldier to others.

If you haven't heard, just yesterday the actor that played as Bilbo Baggins, (Ian Holm) had passed away yesterday at the age of 88.
I'm now singing this as a tribute to him. May he rest in peace.. I wish I could do more.

This will be my funeral song. 30, 50, maybe even 60 years from now I will still remember this song and how it makes me feel.

I remember when I watched the hobbit and lord of the rings movie for the first time, I remember being so amazed at the spectacle of it, I was so sad when It ended it I had had to say goodbye to middle earth. Tribute to Ian Holm! I have loved watching each one for the first time and middle earth is just a fantastic place
I love the melody and the lyrics. Very sad but a ray of sunshine is foreseen. Life's a long ride, a continues and never ending journey, but the joy it brings makes life worth loving/ living. Eternity how much more. Always a figment of hope.
My dog, Mitzy, died today, I'm still crying it hurts so bad. But i know that she is no longer in pain and that she is living a better and safer life. I miss her so much, she was my best friend my first best friend....but I know that I would meet her again, someday...😢😭❤❤🐶🐾🐕
