If that is your natural hair color, then you're soooo lucky 🍀 I once had beautiful curly hair as well, went through depression after losing my job and decided to get a pixie cut. I've been trying since then ( 15 years ) to grow my hair again with no success. Never ever cut your beautiful hair ❤️🐾

All my life, I just thought that I had thick, wavy hair that tangled easily and was always super frizzy. It wasn't until a few days ago when I let my hair air dry that I discovered that it curls. My roommate has curly hair, and told me that the big thing was not to brush it. For someone who has to brush it morning and night in order to avoid mats at the back of my neck, this was so confusing.
Your video helped me understand what to do instead of raking a brush through my hair, and why it works better not to do what I've been doing for the past 25 years. I can't wait to see what my hair looks like when it's finally properly cared for! Thank you so much!

Using oil to dry detangle is a game changer. I use the JVN pre shampoo oil and it literally melts the tangles before I even begin to finger detangle or use a brush. I'm typically a wet detangler but I think I will continue to use oil before I wash my hair so the detangling process takes less time in the shower. This was a very helpful video.

do you wash the oil out or go in with shampoo straight away

I think as a man with long curly hair, it is a great tutorial. Sometimes, it becomes so irritating to detangle the curls and looking at locked curls and broken strands especially after a long day in sun and wind exposure. Many a times I thought of going again with a short hairs I used to have, but then your video has given me a new insight and a right information which I was seeking to.

I just spent well over an hour trying to detangle my tailbone length curls before I started my wash day routine. I wish I saw this video first.....great tip with using oil! It never occurred to me to try that. Definitely going to do that next week!

This was exactly the video I needed to see. Seeing your perfect curls all the time, it was showing me that I am not the only one struggling with tangles and that they are just part of the game. I guess it's time for a cut, since I have lots of fairy knots. As a guy who didn’t grow up with long hair, I have some catching up to do!
I'll try the trick with using oil in the back, because I also get knots from fluffy fabrics.

This is so interesting. I find my top layers get more than the nape of my neck which is almost always tangle free. The top half of my hair is more course and a tighter wave pattern so I always focus more moisture products there.
Also helps to include bond builders you color treat your hair which is known to cause more tangles helps alot with the smoothness of the hair and doesn't make it feel as rough
Love how informative this video was!

Your hair sounds the opposite of mine tangle wise! Mine is curlier and courser underneath. Glad you enjoyed the video! Great tip about bond builders 👌

Thank you so much for your videos! I hated my hair growing up, because it wasn't just beautifully curly by itself, and it wasn't naturally pin straight, by itself. So I spent years straightening it, or just washing it and putting it in a bun. in the summer, I would usually cut it all off, because I hated dealing with it.
Last summer, my husband gave me shit for cutting my hair off all the time and asked me " Can't you just....let it be curly?" I didn't understand the question. My hair wasn't curly. And this man lifted up my hair, pulled a perfect ringlet from the nape of my neck, and asked "Welllll, wtf is this, then?
My (balding) husband had to be the one who told me my hair was curly 🤯
Since then, it had been a huge learning curve....What products to use, how to style, how to refresh...it's a bit intimidating, tbh. But my hair is healthier than it's ever been, and I appreciate your guidance through my journey

It might seem like your hair is dry on the ends, that it needs a cut but it's not it's damage. Those are the oldest part of your hair and the cuticle gets damages, which causes split ends.
Squishing water in pulsing motions does absolutely nothing. The condition joins with your hair because your hair has a negative charge from the shampoo and the conditioner has a positive charge so that's how it joins with your hair; not squishing it.

Thanks for the tip about using oil at the nape of the neck after washing/styling to prevent tangles on coats and scarves. We are heading into autumn/winter down here so I’m definitely going to try this. It’s very windy here in Melbourne 🌬 I’ve also been using a satin scarf over my hair on really windy days and that has helped so much.

You have beautiful hair Hun, thank you for the great advice. Because I've been through stages of having to cut knots out lol. I use curlsmith products and absolutely love them. Some girls spend money 💸 on their makeup, clothes or jewelry. But I spend it on my long, blonde curly hair lol 💓

My daughters hair is much like mine in the tangling if i dont brush my hair morning and night it mats in the back of my head and my hair is kinda straight/wavy to the back of my neck and it knots so bad 5 minutes after i brush it its knotted, my daughters hair is the exact same exceot she has her dads curly hair and i want to keep her pretty curls nice and bouncy, smooth etc instead of it bing frizzy tangled mess and her crying every time i even slightly run a brush through it. Iv tried 4 different detangle brushes so far on both of our heads shes just alot more tender headed then i am my mother used to rip the brush through my hair over the years i just got used to it i just dont want to do that to my daughter. What has helped so far is pulling the knots apart and then brushing through it cuts down on the time shes screaming bc the brush just keeps getting caught on the knot and pulling her scalp, if its super knotty ill smother it with conditioner let it sit for 5-10mins and brush through it while the conditioner is still in thats what i always did to my own hair when i had really bad depression episodes and wouldnt brush my hair for weeks or even a month it was the only way to get the matted ball out of my hair and one time i used olive oil which was amazing!

Once your hair is pouffy can you refresh like in your recent video? I would like to use oil and finger detangle. I get a lot of tangles at nape and underneath. It's a problem when refreshing. I do need a trim tbf...

I work from home so if I know lll be washing that evening, I spend time during the day to detangle with oil and leave the oil to sit on my hair for a few hours. It’s make my hair feel much better than doing it with wet hair and conditioner

Also, I got a banbonn delivered yesterday and it’s the first thing that’s ever stayed on overnight to protect my curls - they looked ace this morning and it was super comfy too. Highly recommend giving it a try

Another problem I have is hair spray... Some curly you tubers advise us to use. However it makes knots stay in my hair and it's horrible even to wet refresh once I've used it. Yuck. The brush tugs through it.
