- A couple searches for a spacious home for their family of five in the pricey village of Floral Park, New York. She wants to go all in for a move-in ready house, but with their budget he thinks they can save money with a fixer-upper.

A second program could earn them some money and give us the pleasure of seeing the result of their ideas and work . Plus the joy of the children was a delight .Charming family.
i LOVE that they picked that house.....teaching their kids that instant gratification is not the best route to take......hard work brings a good outcome......
Floral Park is a lovely but relatively expensive neighbourhood very close to great neck where prices are astronomical by comparison. For those of you not from the New York area, they actually got a very good deal. And in my opinion that house has lots of potential .

That was totally the best choice!! Due to him doing all the demo, it’s going to help the renovation budget. Hire a contractor to finish the job, correctly & faster than they could. They could do the kitchen, powder rm, & add a master bath easily for their budget! Would love to see the finish product!!!
the second house was amazing. They could've turned that third floor space into a fourth bedroom when the kids were older.

This is a 200k + project that will take at least a year. This family is so naive. Keep in mind, this charming house also has ancient boiler, water heater, windows, electrical, etc etc. It might be 20k to just rewire it, so wall paper family project is cute, but has nothing to do with reality.
lol.. that guy has never painted cabinets if he says it's not a big project. Would take up a whole weekend for just prep work

I'm so happy I was able to find some episodes of House Hunters. I've recently started watching this show again, my guessing has been alittle off although... I was thinking they would choose house number 1. I love a home with charm and character also. Thank You!
Well that was an interesting piece of history, re the extra kitchen in that first house.
That was the best choice and left money to work with. Those pews need to go, yes to big tv above that fireplace. Lots of work there.

#3 had a gorgeous, big backyard which they didn't even mention. #1 was beautiful, but out of their league financially, guess that's the reason for the choice.
Could have turned the 1 bonus room into another bedroom for HOUSE 2. House 1, needs work but was gorgeous...3? eh not my favorite

Uh no...I'd have gone for the second house. Sure it's over their budget, but negotiate the price down and have to pay a mortgage for a while, but hey-it was beautiful.
HeyIts _Kay It didn’t have a 1st floor bath. Needed more of a yard. Plus if your adding a master bath, do it. That was more of a powder bath! Not practical for 2 people! 3rd house gave them the budget to renovate, & make it their way! I’d put a porch on the front, to give it more curb appeal! Not to mention the inside!
Why didnt the extra room. in house 2 counts as a bedroom. I woild have loved it as a kid and a teen.

I didnt like the carport in front of my house but the living space sold me.
I got used to driving up to the front door (under the carport) better security with sensor light. Now love it !!

These houses are over priced and over rated. They will have to build a home from scratch with hundreds of thousands to spend for a complete renovation. The prices are too expensive for these run down houses. These houses are horror stories. I hope that they do not have surprising structural, electrical and plumbing problems. What a Waste.
Monique LaCosta the neighborhood is really good and close to the city and the houses are outdated but they go up in value a lot through the years

And man, thouse houses are damn pricy, and none of them was even perfect. The 3rd one has the best potential, I’m glad they chose it, I’d love to see it finish.
I REALLY think House three was haunted. There was definitely a bad energy up in the attic. Didn't like that house at all!
