An excellent little kit, as you said, simple but effective. It barely complicates the transformation, makes the figure look better in both modes, and blends in great. It's like the figure was meant to come out of the package this way.
That's a really good looking set overall, the parts tolerances(admittedly from the small sample size of 1) look really good and the color matching is nearly perfect. I don't know if I'd pick it up for robot mode, but it does make the alt mode look phenomenal: posing him with Prime's Trailer like that would make for a nice backdrop for a shelf diorama.
Visible robot parts do bother me, but not as much as silly weapon storage. For example, pretty much every figure of movie Lockdown- stick the giant cannon on top of the normal civilian car. I like Huffer's weapon storage, that's pretty good.
This is actually a nice figure, another to the list of what I might pick up and the upgrade kit does a job of selling it. I do like the gun he comes with.
Elevates the price too. Takara Tomy and Hasbro being cheap only causes us collectors to spend more money making these incomplete Transformers complete. This kit is very nice but it doubles the price of Huffer.

I have this kit and the only thing I don't like is the rear wheels don't touch the ground now. I wish they made something that would snap into the rear wheel holes and that you could snap the wheels into, which would lower the wheels by about 3mm.

If y'all get this kit, that back piece can actually go all the way up into that cavity and it will sit flush against the back of the cab. Also, my thigh gap fillers fall out at every turn... literally... and it makes me sad, but I don't really care about them all that much. Just be aware.

I mean, they are doing completely different things at different price points. Of course the set that costs as much as the figure it's for is going to be better than the kit that's a fourth the price.
That is a very good upgrade kit. It would be nice if Has to would hire some of these guys to put the finishing touches to their Transformers. These extra pieces should have been part of the release figures.
It's not that simple. Designers have to stay within a certain price and complexity range, while also usually having a limited amount of time to work on a project. Upgrades like these would probably be putside of those limits.
Never seen an Upgrade kit that not only limits poseabliloty, but also has pointless parts. Like, nobody cares about the inside of the thighs. And a Butt screw hole cover is redundant, few poses show off the butt of a figure, and it takes away the stand Hole whilst not even giving one back.

I don't like the VHS, not at all. It should be at least somewhat realistic from all angles.
