I like to start off my day with a Dave Kelly video while eating breakfast and every day I’m amazed at the the information, tips and tricks that you bring to the photographic and artistic world … thank you so much!!!
Very nice! Another thing you can try is to duplicate your base layer, go into Quick Mask mode, fill with about 30 to 50% grey, and turn off Quick Mask. This creates a partial selection. Now, when you use Generative Fill with a prompt like “painterly” it will generate a texture based on your underlying image. It’s nice when you want to generate brush strokes that follow the subject. You can then play around with blending that and other layers together.
Dave, you are like a kid in a candy store and I appreciate that you share all of your candy with us! I love texture blending and this adds a another great dimension to this technique. I’d love to see more of this sometime. Many thanks.
I have never mastered the art of adding textures. This tutorial help simplify the process and will help me feel comfortable experimenting again. Thanks Dave!
Thanks for these Ps Beta tips. I did download the beta a while ago but found it a little buggy and decided to forego it. Really waiting for it to come into its own in Ps (alpha?). So these tutorials of yours are just whetting my lips for that eventuality. So thanks Dave, continues to look pretty exciting..
TK9 significantly streamlines and simplifies the blending process, enhancing its intuitiveness. However, I aimed to create this video with a broader audience in mind, including those who haven't yet acquired the TK9 Plugin for Photoshop. In forthcoming videos, I intend to integrate TK9 into the workflow.
This is very interesting and a technique I need to practice and keep in my toolbox. At the beginning of this video you showed a number of your flower photos which all had an ethereal appearance to a lesser or greater extent. That is a look that I have yet been able to achieve. A tutorial on creating this look would be most appreciated. All the best and keep 'em coming....
Many thanks for this video, Dave. I agree, generative fill is really a lot of fun especially when working with images like this. I've also tried a few things (blury background, bokeh background...) and then masked out the actual subject. I always get different exciting results and that is on the one hand really interesting, but on the other hand also really annoying, because you always get different results with the same prompt input. Adobe should think about how to get a consistent workflow with the AI.
Do you also do a side hustle as a mind reader, Dave? I was just about to ask you what all the pretty colored boxes in the wide row to the left of your Properties bar was and then, you explained it was the TK9 thingie! Lol
Dave, for some of the intro flower pics that have a very soft selective focus look to them did you by any chance use a special lens on your camera like those from Lens Baby? Thanks.
Hi Dave. One question. Is it possible to export the TK panels from the "old" photoshop to the Beta one?. I mean without having to do it all over again. Thanks
Thanks Dave for the creative boost. One question can anyone help me? Since I loaded PS-Beta I can't transfer images from Lightroom Classic to PS, weird before PS-Beta I had no problems with Mac Ventura. 😢
Adobe have just release version 12.5 of Lightroom Classic. Having updated to this sending files from Lightroom to both Photoshop Beta 25.0 and production Photoshop 24.7 is working properly again. I needed to sign out and back into Creative Cloud before the update was displayed.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly I was on vacation, hence the late reply. Yes, the update from LR helped, everything is working properly again, thanks for the help.

Thank you Dave for another great video. Please keep experimenting and teach us to fly as well. Deeply in your debt for these vids.

Thanks I'll have to give that a try.
Really nice tutorial, Dave! Thank you.
First time that Generative Fill makes sense to me (personalkly). Thanks, Dave!

Great video, but you didn’t use the TK9 Panels. ??

I believe this is an issue with Photoshop Beta. Hopefully it will get sorted out soon.
