About Love and London:
I'm Jess, I've lived in London for many years, and this channel is a London travel guide for anyone visiting the city that wants to experience it like you live here. Beyond talking about the usual London attractions, I show you some of the cooler things to do in London, that most travel guides don't mention. Watch my videos and you'll feel like you've got a Londoner friend telling you the best kept secrets in the city.
Travelling to London is my childhood dream.
We did London at Christmastime 2 years ago. My take-aways: If possible, upgrade flight over and fly home cheaper (Virgin Atlantic was wonderful), staying at an airbnb will save you a ton of money on food, stay close to a tube station to get around, warm clothes for winter a must, including hat and waterproof shoes, viator and London Pass for sightseeing, definitely get tickets for NYE fireworks on the Thames (amazing), don't use travelex for $ (use bank cash card when you arrive), sim card at airport for internet, use what's app for communicating with home, Fortnum and Mason for high tea, skip Harrods and Tate Modern, walk to the top of Saint Pauls church, Portobello Road for shopping, Boro Market for food.
Taking notes .... ; )) ta v much !
Thanks Helen! As someone who believes in promoting small businesses and more local things to do, over using Viator and the London Pass, I would recommend companies like Eating Europe or Devour Tours for tours (specifically food for those guys) or ones in this article of unique tours to take in London: loveandlondon.com/11-unique-tours-to-take-while-visiting-london/. Here's a video of unique, alternative museums to visit: ruclips.net/video/xa-nYVyazgQ/видео.html and a video of unique hidden gems to check out in London: ruclips.net/video/F3s85Gz7gtk/видео.html

@@loveandlondon thank you!!❤️🔥
I'm so disappointed that I had to cancel my trip to London in October, definitely planning to visit in 2021........
Great!
i guess it's kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Imran Jasper try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
Jess, your channel has really helped me with my last two trips to London and hopefully a future trip as well. Thank you!
That's great to hear Francis, thanks so much for the kind words.
I've had to postpone my 2020 London trip but fear not London I shall return. I have a love hate relationship with your videos Jess. I love your content but I hate that I have to wait even longer now lol. For all those watching, I have found jess's content very helpful
Thanks so much Barry, I appreciate you continuing to watch!
"Don't forget it's expensive here!" with the head wag is my favorite part 😄
I'll start my work in London from 23 rd November.
Your London trips ideas had helped me to get prepare for my London dreams. Hope we will meet someday and I'll give you warm thanks a ton.
🤗
Congratulations and good luck!!
Looking forward to a 2022 visit, hopefully 10 days. Great idea to start saving as soon as possible. Thank you for the advice.
Awesome! Great to hear! Yes exactly, lots of time to save.
Planning for July trip!
Any recent updates ( new tips )!!
omg i got so excited with “printables and worksheets and pdfs” just found out a week ago i’ll be there 1st time, in a month, you’ve been a Godsend for sure! Thank you so much. i hate traveling without at least a shell of a plan so that im making the most of my visit - this is my 4th video o your channel and i feel my anxiety level like almost totally dissipate learning from you- 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Aw great! So you can find all of the guides we now have available in our shop: shop.loveandlondon.com Enjoy!!
Nope, no plans to visit London anytime soon. Maybe I'll go back in a few years. Miss you, London.
Trying to plan a ladies trip (first time to London) for my 40th in spring of 2021! I’m so glad to have found your channel and Instagram!!
Oh that's awesome! Thank you so much for watching.
Edit: a BIG thing I think you should buy pre-trip are some UK/EU travel adapters! Don't cause yourself unnecessary stress by having to search for one after coming off a long flight.
Using Pinterest to categorize different aspects of the city im visiting is such a great idea! I can't believe I hadn't thought about that before - it would help me so much better instead of relying on saved places on Google maps
Fab. Thanks so much for watching!
"So sit down and binge watch all my videos..."
Hahaha oops, might have found myself doing this as I get ever more excited for my 2 weeks in London in August.
😎😎
Planned an impromptu solo trip to London for Easter weekend 2022 and this is so helpful !! Thank you

love the shameless plugs for your brand. Even though I've been to London before and know my way around to an extent, I always find inspiration for new places to check out and explored based on your Instagram posts and video content so keep up the good work!
Thanks! Trying to keep business running. That's so great to hear that you get inspiration, thank you so much for watching!

I’ve been to London so many times but I’m not visiting from January 2020 and I miss the city so much! Planning a month tip in 2022
Nice!
My dream is coming and staying a month to six weeks in England. I looked up short term rentals and it is feasable! I want to do London but my object is to get out into the country. I'm thinking Bath. I stayed in Bath last summer and really liked it. From there there is so much of the country to see and besides, Jane Austen festival is in September. September is after the summer vacation rush for most people and into the school year and could still be warm. Several apartments in Airbnb are around 15 to a little over two thousand dollars a month. That's cheaper than a hotel and I can cook. I am seeing several places close to the city center. But then again if I were to stay in London, I could see so much of the city in a month. Air fare is the biggie and what to pack and how much? I feel like I packed just about right last time but my suitcase was so heavy and hard to handle. I had to buy an additional carry on for the trip home. I'm no light packer. And especially with my regency gowns and hats, it's a what to do? Do you think September 2021 will be safe to come? Any way around it, it will be 10 grand to do what I want. I'm starting to cut out all those things I buy monthly and all the clothing I buy. If I can save that, I would be in good shape.
Hi Denisa, no one can predict what it will be like that far ahead! :)
Thanks, Jess! I can't wait to start researching for next Xmas!! We appreciate your input! You're making us all excited for the future! Cheers to you!
Awesome Sarah, thank you so much for watching!!
Your makeup 💄 is spot on 👌
Booking directly with the airline is better than doing it with an agency.
Yup always! Thanks for watching ❤️
London has been my dream for all of my life. Finally just got my passport and am currently halfway to saving all the money for my trip 🙂
Fabulous! Good luck Heather!
Shes not kidding about saving ur $$! Start now!!
Okay in the planning process for travel in August 2022.
Thanks for the information. Still hoping to visit in 2021; originally planned to visit in the Spring but now looking at the Fall.
Lovely. Thanks for watching!
Definitely looking forward to London in June 2022. Now to figure out what to pack. 🥴😍

I'm planning December 2021!
Woohoooo
Another fab video. Thank you so SO MUCH for this ❤
Thank you so much for watching Denice!!
Would love to go in 2022 summer. Want to make sure everything is open. Since I have been to London so long ago now with Chunnel would probably add quick jump to Paris as well.
Thanks so much Jess! Your videos are always so helpful. I'm hoping I will be able to reschedule my trip December 2021 and celebrate my 51st birthday instead of my 50th. Fingers crossed this virus is under control by then. Stay safe..
LISA
Hey Lisa! Thank you so much for watching! Hope you're hanging in there ok!
My goal is to go November 21. Hopefully Americans will be allowed in! Been very excited with watching these videos and planning!
Americans are allowed in, always have been! And they're now introducing measures to cut quarantine. Thanks for watching!
I can't wait to be back in London! You have so many great videos and information!
Thank you so much!
I had a massive trip planned in May, travel insurance didn't help at all, epidemics (and obviously pandemics) were not included. Luckily, most of the airlines and railways plus bus trips gave me credits.
Yeah it's always very important to know the details of what your insurance policy covers. Obviously you couldn't have predicted that you'd need pandemic cover....
So much helpful info. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
So glad to hear it, you're very welcome.
I would like to see a video on what covid London looks like. Do you wear mask at all tourist sights? What tourists sights are open? What had changed. What ate the expectation for tourists. Is travel safe when the US state department has UK at a level 3 reconsider travel.
Hi Shawn, I published a couple videos back in the summer showing what the city was like at that point. Everything changes quickly so probably won't be able to make a video about it because by the time I film it and then publish, it could have changed. Best to follow your govt's travel advice (especially as it pertains to the validity of your travel insurance) and you can follow me on Instagram if you want to see some day-to-day life in London: instagram.com/loveandlondon
My plan is for November 2021 and then Paris afterwards. Hopefully Americans will be allowed into Europe then.
Thanks for watching!
Great info!
Glad to hear it! thanks for watching Robin.
Thanks for the advice! Love your channel! ❤️
Thanks so much for watching Adriana, I really appreciate it!
Planning my trip for NYE Thanks!
great! Thanks for watching.
I'm heading to London from Australia, in September and have been loving all your Love and London content! Thank you! Do you have any recs for similar content creators in Scotland, France (I saw your 48hrs in Paris vid
Hi Sarah, thanks so much! I don't know anyone who does things as in depth as I do but I do have an Edinburgh video: ruclips.net/video/hhf9hggFHws/видео.html&t Hope that helps!
@@loveandlondon I've just watched the EDI ones too! They're great, thank you! I think you've convinced me to catch the train instead of fly - those views!
Saving money, prepare everything and explore London
Can’t wait to visit again! We had a trip planned for May. Would May next year be realistic? My insurance has floated over to 2021. You have great suggestions. Thx Jess.
Can't say Anne! Just have to take it all month by month. Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it❤️
When considering travel insurance -- make sure that the impact of such things as a worldwide pandemic is covered. I thought I had done my homework and was prepared as possible but in March 2020, I had to come home one day early from London due to the airline changing my flight and the travel insurer denied my claim - basically I lost one night's airbnb cost because I came home on a Monday instead of a Tuesday - but the travel insurer denied the claim because the entire situation was related to the pandemic. Even though I had proof that the airline changed my flight, I was still denied. The insurance would have covered instances of natural disasters, terrorism, personal illness but not the pandemic.
Yup, as mentioned :) Thanks for watching Sandra!
Hi Jess. Your videos are really helpful. I would like to know how to manage spending in the UK. Can I use cash or do I have to use my debit and credit cards from my country, Barbados?
Card is massive here!
Nice one Jess! I’ve got an idea. Why don’t you show London as xyz countryman in episodes forms (I.e. London focusing only Italian Tourists in episode 1, for Indians in episode 2). Just a thought :)
Thanks! Hmmmm well I mean... I try to make videos and suggestions for people from all around the world! So I'm not sure how different they would be :)
Love from indiA
Great video. Cant wait to see more.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️
I’m planning for 2024!
Nice!
I didn't see the travel insurance companies listed in the description. Did I miss it?
My husband and I have booked a trip to the UK for Christmas and New Years. do you have suggestions for Christmas dinner? I've been searching for the perfect pub/small eatery.
There's a list of places who have done Christmas dinner in the past in this article: loveandlondon.com/london-christmas-day/ but each year can vary and they won't start booking places till 1-2 months ahead.
My 16 yr old son and I will be in London the end of July. He's unable to be Covid vaccinated and falls under the 17 and under and doesn't have to be, for now. I'm concerned that could change before going there. I am planning on getting a letter from his doctor. We're very cautious and always wear a good mask. I've also reserved the seats at the back of the plane away from everyone. I'm concerned about my son possibly getting covid while over there and our whole trip being ruined. Any thoughts and imput on this would be greatly appreciated!
Hi there, unfortunately I'm not a doctor or scientist so I can't weigh in on that. I will tell you though that masks are not required anywhere in England anymore and most people are not wearing them anymore.
I had to cancel 2 London Trips this year because of Covid 😢
Yep! You're not the only one! Won't be like this forever though.
@@loveandlondon I hope so. I hope the earth recover soon from this pandemic.
Stay safe and healthy ❤️
Excellent video !
Thanks for watching Ingrid!
Hi, we are a mother daughter duo planning for London- Edinburgh-Dublin.
It's my daughter's dream to visit Harry Potter's sites.
Would need your help for planning.
Thanks sooo muchhhh
Thank you very much for the tips.
Thank YOU for watching Danuellia!
Hi Jess from Southern California!! Planning a trip in Sept 2021, hopefully London will be opened and we get back to some normalality!! Thank you for your great videos, they have really helped me. Question, I am a senior and some disaiblity walking, traveling aloone, do have a suggestions for hotel near central London? Thanks for your videos.
Hi Terry, thank you so much for watching and commenting! Yes I have some hotel recommendation for central London in this article: loveandlondon.com/where-to-stay-in-london-popular-attractions/ That will help!
Just a note that we haven't updated that article to include info on wheelchair accessibility yet (I imagine you'd like to avoid stairs if possible) but our more recent hotel articles do have that information, as well as the London Hotel Guide which will be available when we relaunch the 3-Day London itinerary. More hotel content here: loveandlondon.com/category/london-accommodations/
think my return to London (which was planned for the end of 2022) won't happen until the end of 2023 now...Australian travel restrictions are slow to lift!
Damnit australia
I Love London and im planning to come but im worried about the rules from Germany to UK 🇬🇧 Im from Germany and im planning to stay only 4 days. I am Fully Vaccinated.
Check gov.uk for updated restrictions and rules :)
God I hope i do NOT have to wait until 2022 to visit!
yaaaaaaa
Hi Jess, where's the link to the digital savings banks? Thanx!
Ah yes, there are ones like Starling, Monzo, Revolut....
Good morning
I can’t find the 3 day itinerary
It's here! loveandlondon.com/3-day-london-itinerary/
Hey so call me crazy but my girlfriend is going to be in London for a month for work and I’m thinking about surprising her but I would have to be there in about 6weeks I have a budget layed out already do you think I’d be able to squeeze in the trip and still find a cheap enough Airbnb/hotel and get all the essentials I need within that time? Thanks for the help your content is great!
Don't forget that you will need to work in quarantine time depending on where you are coming from. I don't know what your budget is but instead of Airbnb (which I don't recommend for London) here's a list of apart hotels: loveandlondon.com/18-london-apart-hotels-better-than-airbnb/
Im planning to London in may of next year i got everything plan from the hotel at the airport that im gonna be staying at so i wont be far and get to my flight on time when i go back home to the activities that im gonna be going to camden market and borough market
Hey Larry! I don't recommend staying by the airport unless it is City airport. All other airports are either very far from the centre of the city, or aren't in London at all, and are quite far outside. Best to book something in London, check out my videos about booking accommodation and areas to stay in for some help!
@@loveandlondon ok thanks Jess
You have any advice on renting an apartment in the London area for one month? Im considering that option. Probably have to rent an apartment outside of London.
Afraid I can't help with stuff outside London, sorry!
Yeah, after having to cancel in March I started planning again, then numbers rose and now you are on lockdown!!
Citymapper pass or Oyster for transportation payment? Thanks!
Neither, just use a debit or credit card with contactless feature
What are the best airlines to use to fly into the london?
Completely depends on where you're flying from as that affects which airlines you'll have to choose from.
What do u think about Expedia I'm in mn an I'm planning on a trip to London in September
Book direct when you can!
Nice
How did you like London
I live here so safe to say that I love it.
You are so dang smart
How many days would U recommend to visit London if coming from US
Minimum of a week, but people live here for years and don't even scratch the surface of everything! To start you off with a plan for your London trip you can grab my 3-Day London Itinerary: shop.loveandlondon.com/products/3-day-london-itinerary
Thanks might be a year or 2 just like to get on RUclips for fun and like pre planing things I’ll watch your videos again
Hi Travel from Australia when we can? Travel insurance will be thought the roof. Australia
Yes, I am afraid of that too. You know they are going to raise the price so that it is almost as much as the trip itself!
You'll have to keep an eye on your government's advice to see when they allow you to travel... sadly I cannot overrule them 😃
I have ticket in june 2021. :)
@@timdaugherty5921 hope the best :)
great! Thanks for watching
I have a feeling flight travel is off the table for an entire section of the population who cannot wear masks. :( I just sold my points and bought a camper since I can't fly anymore and I do believe the mask mandate will become permanent for flights/airports.
Sorry to hear that Lisa! I know in the UK they would never require someone who is medically exempt to wear a mask but can't speak for other countries. The camper sounds fun!
@@loveandlondon Heathrow requires them upon landing and all airlines require them while flying. :( We have exemptions in the US as well but most stores/restaurants/offices won't honor them so we're completely homebound now.
Hi there, can somebody tell me if I have to take the 2nd day COVID test if I am staying less then 48h.
How is this counted by the way? By calendar days or hours of stay.
I arrive on march 4th 22:55 Luton and leave march 6th 17:50 from Luton. That's less than 48h so I am supposed to book the 2nd day test anyways. But if I have to take it I would risk to get a positive test (you never know) and I am stuck in London for the next 10 days plus extra expenses.
Can someone give me advice pls. Has somebody maybe experienced already? Thx in advance
Things could change before then so keep an eye on gov.uk. All info you need is on there.
I’m thinking of unfollowing you because you don’t like Harry Potter 😅😅😅😅
🤣 I'm surprised you're the first person to say this
@@loveandlondon 😅😂 I guess the other ones are too shocked about the fact 🙈 Stay safe.
