I am SO relieved you had this happy ending 🥹❤️ Thank you for sharing this vulnerable experience, and please don’t be too hard on yourself. We bird owners tend to become a bit OCD I think, but all our birds want is for us to enjoy our time with them❤
Thanks so much sharing! So glad he's okay ❤️ My lil green bean was hand raised on sunflower seeds and it took so long to ween him off for good. He eats just about everything, fruits in moderation, but I'm definitely gonna be more on top of his diet so that he gets more vitamins!
Thanks for sharing your story ❤This is a big wake up call for me. My boys love their veggies but they also love human food and I give them too many treats like cheese and tiny bits of bread with vegemite...I'm going to be much stricter from now on.
Wow, thank you for sharing! It’s definitely a wake-up call. I also give my African Grey and Caique fruit as a snack, but their main diet is pellets and chop (filled with veggies, chickpeas, grains, and other lentils). Your video really made me think twice about cutting back on the fruit! So happy to know your birdie baby is feeling better now ❤
It sounds like hours has a pretty good diet ❤ Vonnegut was eating probably close to 80% fruit so that was the main problem. A little fruit is ok for variety ❤
Pet ownership is tough, especially with exotics. Despite all the research beforehand, people often learn many crucial things during the time when they have an animal. I've definitely found myself learning on the go with many of my pets. Thank you for sharing this video. My girls are BIG fans of mandarins and I've realized I'm probably giving them more than I should.
Yep, being an exotic pet parent IS hard. Bunnies have similar issues. It is very easy to give them GI stasis, which can shut down the kidneys within 24 hours. It takes a lot of knowledge to be able to take care of animals that are not super domesticated like cats and dogs and the information isn't ambient. It's research and anecdotal wisdom from the community that just wasn't there when you started out the way it is now. I appreciate your candor because your platform helps enrich the common knowledge of avian nutrition. Keep at it. ❤️
I feel you! We have been there too. For us it was the fatty liver and high cholesterol due to a seed diet with too many sunflower seeds, too much fruit and high GI vegetables. Fortunately we have fantastic vets too and after a couple of nights in hospital our boy was better and we work hard on a healthy diet and regular check ups. Thank you for sharing your story!!!
This may have saved other birdy’s lives by allowing us to know. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing💚🩵. I’m so glad all is well now!
You are so welcome 🥰 I hope many others can learn from and avoid my mistake

Was he eating pellets at the time, or no? For my parrots, pellets are maybe 60% of their diet, but I do give them fruits and veggies as well.
Thank you for sharing!! Thank God he's doing well 🙏🏻
So glad Vonni is doing well again 🥰

How did he end up finally eating his vegetables? Did he just start liking them after going through all that? Glad he’s doing much better!
Being at the vets for a week meant I wasn’t there to cave in to his cries for more fruit, so it was mainly that.

What does GI stand for?
@@Yemma1990 glycemic index
I’m glad it’s not just me on this journey. Thanks to our amazing vets hey!
@@Yemma1990high GI is glycemic index, like high sugar content
May I ask what the tree branches are made of in his aviary? Thank you
A range of camphor laurel (surprisingly it’s safe for birds) and malealuca and callistamen
@ thank you!
No one realises that fruit & veg don't give them the vitamins & nutrients they need.
Soluvite D powder added to water is so important..
So so important ❤
💚
She he eat only veggies now? Glad he is okay today❤️
And pellets and diet budgie seed with soluble vitamins, alternated on different days.
