Although my family has been Army for 150 years, as a kid my family watched all the war movies and such. I remember shows like this, Victory at Sea and such. Watching them now brings happy memories of watching them with my father who was a Korean war veteran. Miss you Dad.
I was a boy in the 1950s and remember this show and Victory at Sea very well. My dad had been on a destroyer in the Pacific and his ship was one of those in the radar picket line at Okinawa. I miss my dad like you miss yours!
A very good and salutary point. Commander! I'm no service man either active - or retired - but I know how determined the Royal Marines are! And the USM also share a similar disposition and perception.
Commando eating 6 eggs per meal reminded me of twin college roommates. Set of twin boys ate: 1- loaf bread, 1-dozen eggs, 1-lb bacon for breakfast every day.
I served on the USS Perch (APSS 313) in June and July 1964 as a midshipman from Notre Dame. It was an R&R cruise after some secret operation in Vietnam. We went from Subic Bay Philippines to Hong Kong, Yokosuka, Japan, and went to Korea, l returned to Notre Dame for my commission as an Ensign on Aug 3 1964. John Loarie, former Lieutenant USN 2024
