Part 1 and Part 2, are the most comprehensive and simplified tutorial I have seen out of hundreds that I have viewed. It covers many questions I had and couldn't find on the others. I thank you for the insight. Well done. Keep it up. Would like to see more.

Love your slow and relaxed style. Esp how you continue to reinforce the early steps of the instructions through the whole process. Hearing and reading the words really helps both types of learners. Thank you Thank you for adding trouble shooting. Cant wait to try this.

Best spindle video ever! I am teaching a free class at the local library and will definitely be giving out the link to your video to the students. Thank you for taking the time to make such an informative video with little to no wasted chatter time. Love it!

I have watched so many how to videos now on how to spin, but this answered the most questions for me. Thank you so so much

I have tried spinning but always ended up with uneven yarn...clumpy, hairy bits...well...just a mess. I always gave up. After watching part 1 & 2 of your tutorials today, I am happy to tell you that I have actually made some wool thread, after my first attempt, that I am actually proud of and will end up using. Now I can turn that +10 year old box of wool into something I can weave in my loom. I can hardly wait! THANK YOU!

This is an awesome tutorial! Thanks so much. You make it look easy but I can tell that it takes practice - and probably patience - Thank you so for sharing these lessons with us - where I live there are no classes. I cannot even find a local source for cards. If it weren't for the internet I would probably be too intimidated to try to learn this. Your step-by-step instructions are just what I need! Many thanks!

Very nice...I have learned more in the 2 videos for about 10 minutes each then some of the ones I had watched that were more then 1 hour...I like that you explained why you do or don't do something and that there is more to spinning then this first time...so many lead you to believe that this is the end and the yarn is now ready to use...Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge

Thanks so much for this video. I have watched several and am very frustrated with my spinning. From watching yours I've come to the conclusion that I need to start with less fiber in my hand and put less twist in my yarn :) I've been feeling like I'll never get past the park and draft beginner stage but I think this video will help me out alot!

Thank you again. Your tutorial is the most thorough I've seen and answers so many questions I was wondering (and even ones I didn't yet know I would probably be wondering). :D xox

Thanks for these videos! I'm a needle felter so I have lots of wool around, and wanted to try spinning. My first attempt was with a homemade support spindle, but I think it's not heavy enough so it didn't work well. I made a simple drop spindle, and spun my first yarn following your videos! It's slubby, but still yarn!

Unfortunately, with a 10 minute limit on youtube videos it's hard to lengthen some things at all. Good thing there's pause! Thanks for the feedback, which is great to have if I ever do something that isn't a free vid for RUclips!

I agree 100%. Very useful vid but some of the text flies by too quickly to read it :( But I am definitely sending this to all of my friends who claim they just can't spin on a spindle!

Thanks for the video, it answered lots of questions for me. But may I suggest that in future videos you use a different color yarn? The yellow is fairly hard to see against the bright background.

+Arcticfawx as well though it amazing info, the video is too blurry

Added to which, having light text on a light background for too short a time to read it all didn't help.

You may have mentioned this already. Which direction are you spinning your spindle. Clockwise or counter clockwise? Which direction are you winding on?

The first video was very helpful, but I have a question. Was this filmed inside a prison? I now know that I was forgetting to draft after adding twist. Hence, yarn that looks like weave and not anything else.

  • @ellamarie2258
    @ellamarie2258 8 лет назад

i don't get this because the minute one lets go of the spindle it STARTS to twist in the other direction so it is immediately taking out the twist. its very hard. something is not right here.

  • @Didleeios88

what happens at 7:23 when you unpinch the wool to wind it up? doesn't the twist jump into your undrafted wool? that is what happens to me every time I try this. same problem for when I put down the spinning to do some thing else. The undrafted wool keeps getting all messed up :,( please help
