Thank you! Thank you, for the under the cheek bone anchor. I've been shooting ok, but today I decided to try switching my anchor from corner of the mouth to higher under the cheek bone. Took a couple of shots to get my finger tips out of the way with a deeper hook. But after a dozen shots or so i'm sold. It's like shooting a rifle. Never going back. Get a little cant, get your head in there, and bang it goes right where its pointed. If you're a 20 yard shooter you need to try this high anchor.
I started 11 years ago at age 59 with Longbow. I have tested different bows, and finally I found one that are smooth and good to use. Started with 30 Lbs in strength, and are now up to 45. I have tried to can't the bow, and for some reasons, I shoot better without canting. I did instinctive for 10 years, but changed to Gap shooting, and got better result, and some target panics disappeared completely. My first 10 years I shot mostly 11/32 Cedar arrows, with 125grain tips. I have also tapered Arrows, some in both ends, some in one end. Tried 4 feather Arrows, but went back to 3. Since I started with Gap shooting, I also started with 3 fingers under, and a Tab, on Bamboo Arrows. The lighter Bamboo Arrows the better, and I go for 80grain tips. But I have to work on my shoot cycle more to get to the top on 3D competition. I shoot pretty well on the 3D courses in the Forrests, but at Competions its another story at times. I've been working on pulling my elbow around so my hand comes through the string like you showed recently, what a difference that makes. It's actually created quite an issue with my tune that's taken a minute to figure out but I think I've got it down now. Appreciate your work and what you share.
Good stuff Jeff. I am still trying to narrow down my process, as a new shooter i have tried different styles and for me releasing as soon as i touch anchor seems to be the most accurate for me. If I hold i fold. Been at it for a couple months and pretty dead on at 12 yards and sometimes at 15 but not consistently. Shooting a 43 pound longbow ( marked as a 40 , its 3 pounds over the specs according to the bow scale ). Its fun but humbling as one day i can drive tacks and one day I cant hit anything especially if I take a few days off shooting
If there's one thing i've learned over 40 years of deer hunting, we have to do all that we can to be successful, but ultimately its Gods will and not ours, and there's always a reason for our success and our failures whether we understand it or not. Keep up the great channel. God Bless!

I struggle with it tremendously but I've never quit, the more bad shots, the more I want to try again. Especially when I don't know what I'm doing wrong. You're problem isn't the archery, its overcoming you're environment.
We have too become like the hooter shooter machine that mechanicly shoots the arrow exactly every time, if we shoot are stick bows the same by demanding performance, meaning we're going to make a perfect shot every time or we're drawing the bow back down and not releasing, we can never expect anything different or it will be a miss. Do push ups if necessary, demand performance or draw down. Just my two cents on Jeff's great explanation, amen 🙏
