  • The 2018 Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black is the latest addition to the modern Bonneville lineup, and as you might have guessed - it's all black, but these changes are more than just skin deep alternations.
Powered by the stellar vertical twin, 270-degree crank Bonneville 1200HT engine; the Bonneville Bobber Black produces a claimed 76 horsepower at 6100 rpm, and 78 ft/lbs of torque at 4000 rpm. With a tune centered on torque, the T120HT powerplant has become something of a favorite within the new larger displacement Bonneville machines.
In terms of suspension, the Bobber Black is equipped with a 41mm KYB fork - a slight change from the standard Bobber's 47mm Showa fork, while the shock remains unchanged. Just like the Bobber, the Black variant remains compliant and poised regardless of the situation. Spring-preload adjustment is available on the shock.
With dual rotors now bolted up front, stopping can be done in a hurry - this was a noticeable improvement over the standard Bobber which utilizes a single disc to get the job done.
Additionally, a larger tire in combination with a smaller 16'' wheel change the look of the Bobber Black, without compromising its solid handling characteristics. The Bobber Black, despite the large front tire, is a sure footed and easy going machine.
The Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black expands on the great characteristics of the standard Bobber, remedying any issues that we might have had. With the addition of other ammentities such as cruise control, the Bobber Black is an option to consider.
Two black finishes are available - Jet Black for $13,150 or Matt Jet Black at $13,400.
Arthur Coldwells, President and Owner of Ultimate Motorcycling Magazine traveled to Spain to ride the 2018 Bobber Black and was able to share his thoughts during the first ride.

I love first person view, don't get me wrong but would love more third person views of the bike. Like the way car reviews are done. Anyways good video!

Awesome review, thank you. Made a down payment and can't wait to pick this bike up in a few months.

This is the most beautiful motorcycle to me. Just wish Triumph would make it with a 600-800 cc engine - a junior Bobber. I'm 5-10, 45 year old, 260 pounds; will be getting my first motorcycle in spring. Here in the US there is no restriction on cc for the first time riders but better sense must prevail.

I actually like the look of the older model front end. I like the spoke wheel, single disk, skinny forks/tire. It might not perform better but it’s more aesthetically pleasing to me.

Agreed still not sure about the new front end, looks a bit heavy to me, kinda like the Harley '48 which I guess is it's nearest equivalent.

Apparently the shiny parts on the standard model suffer from fairly pronounced tarnishing.

I wish they had an option for the pegs to move them back, that way I could lean more without worrying. I wonder if fatter tires allow more a lil more lean before the pegs scrape

SENA 10C camera/communicator that normally works pretty well. I must have screwed up the mic placement in the helmet so I can't really blame the unit cos it worked well in other fitments. Ho hum. Sorry about that.

Absolutely not a problem, don't worry about that. I'm 6' ...and gangly at that, and the bike was comfortable and fit me well. Also, the PR guy at Triumph who rode with us is 6' 3" and had no problem either.
