I’m doing mine now too. Don’t look fun.

@@hondaxl250k0 definitely a tight squeeze, everything is that generator area is completely near impossible to work on still mounted to the RV. I can barley get my hands in anywhere and lost a bolt underneath the housing, magnet definitely helped me there

@@ChristianRaymondFilms not so bad if you pull the bolt on green covers corner so you can pull corner aside to make more room

Thanks for the video, one suggestion is to remount the fuel pump in a different location (like under the generator, so it won't get so hot) and you'll have better access in the future

That is a great idea!!! If I have to replace it again I will definitely move it!!! Thanks for your suggestion and thanks so much for watching!!!

@befreebensondiy did you throw the old pump away, the reason I ask is that the pump may not have been bad it may have been just vapor locking (even though I had a new pump on hand I didn't install it, I used the old pump and it seems to be working fine since I got it away from the heat)

Thanks for demonstrating this. I'm convinced that I'd rather pay someone else to do it.

That’s the great thing about RUclips, you get to see what’s involved and decide. I had a spring break on my garage door. After watching a couple of videos I realized that it was better to call someone else. That much pressure in a spring loaded door was a little out of my comfort zone…. Thanks so much for watching!!!

When I was a kid I helped my Uncle replace a spring on a garage door. It was the memorial day weekend family activity lol very scary and I definitely would rather someone else do it next time @@befreebensondiy

The hardest part seems to be to get the stupid box back in. So far I have spent over an hour and still haven’t figured it out. Unfortunately, in the video it seems like it takes about half a second.

That's the funny thing about video... Sometimes you have to edit out a bad camera angle or things that make for boring segments. That stupid box was not easy to get in. It took some patience. It will go back in. I'm not sure the genius that figured it was a great idea to stuff a generator in a tight place and make it so hard to reach items that require service!!! Thank you so much for watching! I hope you get everything back together and working!!!

This video has been very helpful and I am in the process of doing the same thing right now. Is it still running well for you after the new pump?

Yes!!! The fuel pump finally solved all of my problems. Thanks for your kind words, and thanks so much for watching

Dumbest design ever. Bypass the notoriously crap Onan fuel pump and fuel filter with an after market 3-5psi 12v fuel pump mounted as close to the fuel source as possible and easily accessible along with a marine 10 micron water fuel filter separator. Depending on your ending fuel pressure best measured as close to the carb you may have to install a fuel pump with a higher operating pressure to to pull and push the fuel over the distance of the fuel line and through any fuel filter systems inline before the carb. Make sure the fuel pump is pushing fuel through the fuel filter system and not pulling. For me it is an auxiliary fuel tank that contains ethanol free gas, but you can also mount the new replacement pump (not additional booster pump) fuel pump anywhere near the tank. I also have a fuel "Y" installed so that I can pull gas from my 55 gallon main tank as well as the ethanol free auxiliary tank. Add a $20, 0-10psi fuel gauge just before the carb for most accurate low pressure reading always get as close to carb as you can. Whatever fuel pump you buy just make sure the fuel pressure is between 3-5 psi for Onan 4000 at the carb after pulling from any fuel tank and pushing through any fuel filter system you put in place. the final PSI at the carb is what is most important for the generators reliability and performance. Again, always keep the fuel pump as close to fuel tank as possible. It's less stress for the fuel pump to push fuel to a distance than to pull fuel from a distance.

Thank-you so much! I wish I would have had this information before I tortured myself! I really appreciate this info. Hopefully, this will help others in the same boat and us in the future. Thanks so much for watching!
