@TheRedHand for what it’s worth KX has a tab that shows a guide for certain paths, KR lacks that but it’s super helpful for niche paths like Horthy’s maritime kingdom and such
Believe it or not, there actually IS a place in Texas called Praha! It was originally called Mulberry, but when a Czech arrived in 1854 and purchased 100 acres of land and built a house in which early masses were celebrated, it attracted more Czech immigrants. In 1858 the town was renamed Praha. An estimated 12,805 Texans can speak the Czech language. Because the majority of Texas immigrants came from Moravia, the Czech spoken in Texas is largely characterized by Moravian dialects (Lachian and Moravian Wallachian) which vary to some extent from the Bohemian dialects spoken by most Czech-Americans. Czechs were conscripted to serve in the Confederate Army. To avoid conscription, some chose to leave Texas and join the Union Army; others went into hiding. For many Czechs, an alternative to conscription was to carry cotton to Mexican markets as a revenue source for the Confederacy. Although many Czech-Texans have experienced cultural assimilation, Czech celebrations and events continue to be held. The National Polka Festival is an annual parade and festival held in Ennis, Texas celebrating the Czech heritage in the city. The 3-day festival is held every Memorial Day weekend. Most of the party halls offer a lunch or dinner with Czech foods such as klobása, sauerkraut, and koláče.
Like the Mexicans are learning: you come to us but you won't change us Kolache = pig in a blanket The Mexicans are still trying to claim they invented the breakfast "taco" which the rest of the world knows is Texan and is called the breakfast burrito. So pathetic, you don't see the French trying to claim they invented the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant but Paco has an inferiority complex.
Yup, Czechs actually have a rich history in Texas! Large scale Czech immigration to Texas began after the Revolutions of 1848 changed the political climate in Central Europe. Tejanos don't just have Spanish ancestry, but also Czech! Tejano music very much has Czech and German influence! For pastries, Czechs brought traditional kolach to the US which are of course a circular pastry with some sort of fruit jam in the middle, but those who settled in Texas made Klobásník that are also commonly called kolach even though they are two different things. Klobásník are pretty much Czech-Texan sausage rolls, except it's wrapped in kolach dough. Some even choose to do ham and eggs instead or a Cajun pork and rice sausage!
Bleh all of this is painfully gay to read. First off, if there is any noticeable difference in German folk, Czech, Mexican, or Italian music that you speak of it's not immediately recognizable especially without singing being involved, it's all loud polka music that needs to go back home. Secondly we call them Kolaches or to be more honest "pigs in a blanket" and they are for all intents and purposes just that. That's the real only version that's made it across the state and the people crafting them are hardly of any Czech persuasion much less American 9 times out of 10. It's usually some Mexican or Asian making a pig in a blanket. Shipley's tries to make that cursed version you speak of but we're currently battling asshole Mexicans trying to rename the breakfast burrito the breakfast taco because in addition to fleeing their narco state purely to live in the US only for economic reasons like true traitors to both nations, they also decided to truly suck at PR by trying to rename the breakfast burrito because they actually think they made it even though the ingredients are more common as breakfast foods above the border than south.
I love old country and know Czech, yet only recently find out about the whole genre of Texas-Czech Bohemian-Moravian western swing. There were several bands, some even sung in Czech
Fun fact in Texas we still have a few German and Czech towns. Fredericksburg (where Nimitz was born) had a German newspaper for the longest time. Oh and Hallettsville has a big food festival every year

This was a fun video. Just last week I visited the Czech Stop bakery in West, Texas, a city founded off the backs of many Czech immigrants in the 19th century. It's a favorite place of mine to stop whenever I travel through. The kolaches and klobasniks were incredible!
This is epic i love it. I didnt even know that its possible. I hope someday we will see continuation of this where Chicago will get own czech focus tree. ^w^ Or secret tree Bohemian Grove for Pacific States.
Nothing is more weirder than a Eastern Slavic-style country in North America. But hey, it's Kaiserredux. Anything is possible. #slavmonth P.S. Rest well, comrade. 👍
It's deliberately NOT eastern Slavic. The foci make it clear that it's mostly for Czechs, Slovaks and Poles and the other slavs are kinda... "Well, okay, you too" type of deal. Also it's very catholic and aside from Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Slovenes and Croats slavs are majority orthodox and the three are called "west slavs"

Back in the days the czechs made all the good “eastern” westerns. Sometimes they screenes the original, non dubbed versions on buses during long routes. It was so surreal watching cowboys speaing czech.
