- Great finds at the thrift stores this week! You have to see my new mirror and bedroom decor! I decorate on a tight budget for my home but thrift stores help me so much to make it cozy and interesting! I have six rooms to decorate and am trying to respect the 1939 Cape Cod-style cottage. So much happened this week~ I bought new furniture, planned my gardens for next spring, bought new bedroom curtains and rods ,and just took a little time to live life in my new city! Getting ready for fall!!!!!!!!!!!! It's here!
I have something personal to share with you always... and I also want to talk about my obsession with Shoeless Joe Jackson...its like I am trying to figure out what his dramatic life has to teach me. I keep searching.

Once again, as always, I love your videos. I can’t even begin to tell you of all the parallels our lives share! It so fun for me. Last night when you were sharing the colors of your new bedroom colors, I knew you were going to say your color choice was lavender! Of course, mine is too! Then the blue willow dishes!! My mother’s favorite. Every meal of my childhood was eaten on blue willow. My pup Betty and I never miss a video. Thank your for comforting, supporting, encouraging, and teaching us all so many valuable lessons.

Susan, I am sooo proud of you for telling the young mother that she had a valuable gem in her cart and God is very proud of you too. Your story about the wall sculpture really touched my heart. I live in Florida and we don’t have a fall. I am originally from up north and I really miss the leaves turning colors… especially the red sugar maple leaves.

That was so sweet what you did for that woman with the 3 kids! That probably taught her children a priceless lesson as they hear that story over and over. I’m sure that it will not be forgotten.

Dearest Susan, I must admit as you began your story about the young mother in the thrift store, I was disappointed as you were rationalizing your thoughts. But as you finished your story I was cheering you on with tears in my eyes. There is so much wrong in the world right now, and so many horrible things that people are doing to each other, but you literally restored my faith in humanity for the moment, and this quote popped into my mind, "So shines a good deed in a weary world". You did the right thing. That is always the most important. You have already received a reward and that is peace within yourself. You have to love yourself first so you can give to others. If you would have gotten that piece and hung it on the wall you would have brought negativity into your home influencing you and your sweet pup. When I watch your videos you come into my home and it is a good thing.

I'm tired of bees and bald spots on my lawn. I never thought I'd be so glad to see Fall.
I just loved the last week… I was in Pune in my new little flat, finished decorating,returned home to Mumbai and performed some religious festival, Lord Ganesha’s birthday, and went back again. My husband saw the final decor for the first time and two of our friends too, and they were so full of praise and wonder at the lovely decor which I wish I could share with you! Except for two or three things ( okay ten, counting the lights and lamps) I haven’t bought new decor : I just shopped from my home but it looks so organic, as if it was always there! I am happy Susan, I have my own home which I paid for and decorated to my heart’s desire, something I wanted to do since childhood!
Susan, I wish my town had such wonderful thrift shops as yours. I love so many of the things you have purchased over the years. ❤
Susan I was a pre-school teacher for many years. I live in New Zealand. One of the songs I used to sing with the children was. Aroha (the Maori word for love) is loving if you give it away, give it away, give it away. Aroha is loving if you give it away, it comes right back to you. It's just like a magic penny, hold on tight and you won't have any. Lend it, spend it, give it away, and it comes right back to you. This being the case, I expect you won't have enough walls to put all the Lee treasures on you will find in the future. What a beautiful woman you are, like the princess your grand-daughter longs to be, living in the beautiful castle decorated by treasures old and new. Good things come in little dwellings as well, even if they are only brick and sand castles. It's what dwells within that counts. Aroha Christine.

I have worked in community service for many years and helped many, recently I have been thinking people are so take take take its all about me. It was so uplifting the story you told about the women buying the wall art for her mother. Sometimes as my mother would say things happen for a reason, you shared your knowledge of art and a gift of hope and happiness. So much so you gave that woman hope a precious gift, but to also know there are people like you who truly care

I have started taking down my summer decor and decorating for fall. After sitting at home for 2 years staring at the same stuff every day I felt stuck. Now I change things up a little bit for the season and I feel like my life is moving forward again. It makes me feel alive and optimistic about the future.
Now, every time you think about the "Sculpture, that got away" you will get a warm feeling in your heart....so worth it !

I love it when you have shows where you shop at the thrift stores. Well, going from summer to fall is for me a fun time. I like redecorating for the season or buying a new fall shirt. Here in Seattle, the change happens quickly. The leaves are changing, the heater is kicking on in the night... right now, it's raining. I embrace it. Now winter, that's another subject.
Perhaps you were only *meant to pass on the message from Shoeless Joe* to those of us who desperately needed to hear it. I’ve never heard of the story and to hear these words today brought tears to my eyes. I once had a blessed life and lost it all due to multiple serial losses (laid off from 25 year job, divorce, burglary, house fire, etc.) and now poor and alone. I’m thankful for all the lessons and growth from going through hardship but it’s been hard to rebuild my life at an older age…I constantly must find the strength to fight for my dignity, happiness, and prosperity. I’m grateful to have found such a great treasure as you LittlePoet on YT…thank you. 🙏🏼💙

But I knew I had a choice...did you feel like that? I can be broken forever....ok...or I can find some path out of the hell I found myself in and make my life count...brand new me..brand new life...I don't have any answers...just questions really...but the older I get the more I care about what I leave behind...not belongings or money but my deeds....I wonder if Joe felt like that? I'm here in my tiny place desperately trying to get through my to-do list but so terribly exhausted. For me the key is to forgive myself (of mistakes, bad decisions, not protecting myself against losses), and to gain self-worth again to get to the point where I can have peace of mind to be able to serve others. There is more value in the decision you made concerning the sculpture than any enjoyment you could ever receive if it were hanging in your home. The neatest part is that as time went on at the store you were able to see more of the woman's situation and know more fully the joy to be had when we do the right things. We can never go wrong when what we "collect" and give is honesty, compassion and love. It is what Jesus did.

Going from summer to fall for me, is going fantastic❤ My birthday is October 12th and literally I come out of hibernation in the fall and winter❤ I live in Alabama where it is hot and humid!!! And I'm not an "outside" person. The mosquitoes love me so, when I have to go anywhere I kind of just walk fast to my car 😂
I love you Susan. Your videos saved my life in 2020 when my husband passed away. I turned on one and I saw this beautiful woman who was exactly the same age as me sitting on her sofa in her wonderfully decorated apartment looking so confident and living by herself with her precious little dog!! I was in such a horrible place physically, emotionally and I was just needing something to give me hope so badly. You were that something for me. Now, three years later, I am finally doing better. This comes a little late, 10 months after forecasting, but thoroughly enjoyed it. You know, you can have $50,000 to decorate a new living room but it will never have the heart and warmth of a living room decorated with thrift items, hand-me-downs, travel finds, and even things you find on the street for collection. Just take it, clean it, repaint it and add new hardware and it will take center stage. Always be on the lookout for anything made of solid wood because that's starting to become rare. Well, Susan, if you read this, your home looks so inviting and just the way I would have wanted it - and your bedroom looks so comforting and romantic. Wow, you always amaze me! I'm 68 and when I was 1st divorced and my Son was a young boy, I would shop at thrift stores to decorate our home so he would feel comfortable having his Friends over, as I never received child.. support and to this day I still have many items! My Mom had blue willow dishes, they were our everyday! I love to thrift! I love yr bedroom and I have a bed almost like yours! You were very gracious to not covenant that piece and share the value because God already knows your heart, He just wanted you to know it ❤
You need to start a “ladies that lunch “ once every few months to enjoy and appreciate all your blue willow and other place settings

It’s 9:12 at night and the temperature is still 90. It won’t be Fall here for a long time. But it’s always good to spend time with you and Desi. Two of Gods greatest creations, that who you are. It’s not treasure we build here on earth but that in Heaven that counts. You gave that young mom a true treasure. Love you Susan and Desi 💕
