      There is a theory, that Jon is the legitimate son of Eddard and Ashara Dayne. But Eddard had to keep quite about his not well known first marriage, because his second, well known marriage was very important at creating an alliance with the Tully's, the rulers of the Riverlands. Making this public would make all his children with Catelyn illegitimate bastards, unable to inherit, unless legitimized by the King of the Iron Throne (as this is the crown law).
      In turn, Daenerys is the daughter of Rhaegar and Lyanna.

    Rhaegar is the Prince who is Promised! Just imagine it, the person who is the key character of all the events in Got is Rhaegar who dies before the series and we know so little about him! That would be so unexpected for most of the people. He had visions of the future (as Targeryens do) and he knew what he has to do in order to protect the seven kingdoms and the realm of men. He alignes almost perfectly with the prophecy of Melissandre, he was born amidst smoke and salt (when he was born, Summerhall burned to the ground, so there was smoke and people were crying, so there is smoke and salt), he combined ice and fire (Rhaegar dragon prince is fire and Lyanna from the North is ice), he tried to create the "sword" (weapon to destroy darkness) three times. First he thought he is the weapon and he died in the river Trident (which is water, as Azor Ahai first tried to temper the sword with water), second he thought that his son Aegon with Elia was the weapon (Aegon was killed by the Mountain who represents house Lannister (lions), as Azor Ahai tried to temper the sword for the second time with lions heart), and the third time he succeeds by sacrificing his beloved wife as Azor Ahai did. Result is Jon or Aegon Targeryen, his third child. Also, Rhaegar is the direct descendant (son) of the Aerys and Rhaella Targeryen, and in the prophecy it is said that from their lineage will come the Prince who is Promised. Also, let's remember Jon's words from when he joins the Night's Watch: I am the sword in the darkness, I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn...
    Anyways, I really hope that in the end it works out like this. How awesome would be that Rhaegar knew everything that is going to happen and he ensured that he plays his part to protect the seven kingdoms.

    I've had theory for a long time that Elia was in on the whole thing with Rhaegar and was the reason Lyanna agreed to be is secret second wife.
    Elia and Rhaeger did like, if not love one another and I imagine him telling her all about the Prince that was promised and his own ideas that he would need three children. but they both knew she was too weak to carry a third child.
    so they used the Tournament of Harrenhal to pick who would carry the last child. someone strong but kind.
    Harrenhal is also the place where Lyanna supposedly hide her identity to take part she also was seen openly crying when Rhaegar played his harp. assuming Rhaeger was able to deduce that she had been the hedge Knight. he chose her.
    and used the whole queen and love and beauty to pick Lyanna so Elia would know.
    with all eyes on Rhaeger Mostly Elia could sneak conversation with Lyanna. chatting with her and later they exchanged letters.
    the couple tell Lyanna about the Prince that was Promised tell her why they need her and ask her if she would be on board with the idea.
    she agrees and they smuggle her into Dawn.
    with the way his friends speak of him. Rhaeger doesn't strike meas the kind of person who would leave his wife and children like he did. Elia must have known and agreed to it.

    • @Brandonhayhew
      @Brandonhayhew 7 лет назад +19

      That's a great idea, but there are several problems with that, if elia agreed to that she might have informed her brother for some reason because she is hold as a hostage by the mad king, elia must have asked rheagar why he crowned someone.
      In every novels its been mentioned of rheagar dozens of times by multiple characters, ned thinks did rheagar ever visits brothels and he never shown any hate to the prince, cersei and Viserys both mentioned rheagar was unhappy with Elia, ser barristan mentioned rheagar was obsessed with books at a young age and trained master at arms as well, ser barristan has happy with rheagar.
      There are small details about rheagar and Jon snow's origins, did rheagar secretly planned the tourney harrenhall because a member of the kingsguard ser whent's brother was lord whent of harrenhall, rheagar's wanting a third child was a risky move so his left with no choice, mad king went there because of vary's advice, the mystery knight found her out they fell in love, her talk with ned about robert's lustful, lord commander of how he found them? Who saw them runaway, how did ned found out about their secret location of the tower of joy, how did he tore it down, what was the point to go to starfall with wylla and howland, I think he did more then returned dawn he probably returned ser arthur body as well but can't return the other bodies do to the heat of dorne, and why didn't he returned back to get those bodies returned to their families, ned must have made up lies to everyone.
      The only things we can make sense is rheagar's was obsessed with the tree headed dragon and unhappy with Elia and I bet she brings ashara to try make rheagar happy but he rejects her, lyanna was the knight and they fell in love at harrenhal, the tower of joy was a secret location and rheagar orders his best friends to guard his new wife and soon to be his queen, I bet benjen have helped lyanna with the armour and knew their love when ned arrived he must have told ned about it, and lyanna death with those two nurses one of them convinced ned to go to starfall for some reason, ned must have told lord dayne about the story and they let them go with wylla, the daynes are the most loyal house to the targaryen dynasty, they must have supported the tower of joy with wylla and foods, ned builds statue of her in the crypts and she would have been queen if rheagar won?

      its not useless because thats what we need in the show if people never cared about the chars never talked about them never made theories never did shit then a show would be useless.
      but then dude here we're talking about game of thrones, the series got a WAY different timeline different culture and different shit from our world, high lords and princes and maybe evenkings there gets force married for political moves and not for love or any thing like that, it was rhaegar's fault cause he was so dumb and lyanna too but the rebellion was going to take place even if rhaegar didnt, the mad king was just so mad, and yall praise jaime cause he killed him lol jaime shouldnt cause the mad king is an old man and jaime already killed that guy who was going to burn all kingslanding so why kill the mad king too? they should have kept him prisoner... (im not in the subject of rhagear now lol sorry but cmon) you realize tywin lannister killed children (he killed all house reyne, babies and children got killed) he killed all houses (the kids too) that revolted against him and he also killed elia martell and her babies... this show is too deep, rhaegar was just a dumb guy thats all lol

    Rhaegar is by far my favorite character because he's so important yet never seen. I guess with Season 7's finale we know that him and Lyanna did in fact love each other, perhaps it just makes the "destiny" aspect more fitting for Rhaegar to have the savior child with the woman he loved not just for beauty but for strength and kindness. Would assume such a prophetic child would have the goodness of his parents and the love they both put into bringing him into the world.

      According to GRRM, NOBODY in his books are evil, all are grey! Therefore....The Night King probably rescues puppies on the side when no one is looking (I mean....have you ever SEEN a Wight Puppy?), Joffrey probably left all the orphans in King's Landing a huge sum of money in his will because he felt bad about having some of them.....drowned and killed >_> And deep down, all Ramsay wanted was a friend in Theon, which is why he did all that mean stuff to him :'(He just wanted to show Theon he cared! And all the underage girls Walder raped, he "secretly" loved them all :) And the one dude from the North who raped all his daughters constantly, that's....well I'm sure there's a silver lining SOMEWHERE in there :) I guess he kept them all warm in the Winter nights?
      .....or the more likely truth.....is that GRRM is full of shit and no one ever calls him out on it XD

    Eliah Martell was distantly related to Rheagar, since one of her ancestors was Daenerys Targaryen, daughter of Aegon IV The Unworthy. The Martell may also have valyrian blood through the lyseni noble Drazenko Rogare, uncle of Larra Rogare - who was the mother of Aegon IV The Unworthy and grandmother of Daeron II and Daenerys. The women Daeron II took as his wife was Maria Martell, who was most likely the daughter of Drazenko Rogare & Aliandra Martell, and therefore Daron II's cousin once removed, keeping the valyrian bloodline as pure as possible.
    Also, the family tree used here is lacking many confirmed family members. I recommend to visit the ASOIAF.Westeros Wikia for anyone who is interested in the family tree.
    Furthermore, many parts of what is mentioned as fact in this video regarding the parenthood of John Snow and Daenerys Targaryen is NOT confirmed in the books.

    • @kateellison5360
      @kateellison5360 7 лет назад

      One generation off there, my friend - IF Aliandra and Drazenko had offspring, which isn't confirmed (Drazenko was dead by 134 AC, and Aliandra took her seat "young" at some point between 129 AC and then), they were likely Mariah and Maron's grandparents. Their father was Prince of Dorne in his own right.
      Considering how historically important the Daeron/Mariah and Daenerys/Maron marriages were, I'd expect the Rogare connection to be mentioned if it was there, just as the Targaryen-Martell connection is mentioned in the main story even though it's obviously more distant at that point.

    A couple of families in ASOIAF like the Starks, Blackwoods and Targaryens have magical abilities like shapeshifting and prothetic dreams and even looking into the future. The Targaryens have the blood of the Blackwoods (who may be related to the Starks) through Aegon V's wife Betha Blackwood. Rhaegar might have been able to use this magic and prothethic dreams or insight into the future and they were the reason for his actions.

    So this was a great video and really enjoyed it but you did get a couple minor things wrong. When Dany has the vision of Rhaegar, he said Aegon was the Prince That Was Promised, not all three children. He said there did need to be another, because "the Dragon must have three heads".
    Also we don't know if Lyanna was a good swordsman. It's said in the books that jousting is three quarters horsemanship, which we know Lyanna was a very capable rider.

  • @Lite727
    @Lite727 2 года назад +6

    My theory on Rhaegar:
    He was in fact the honorable hero Barristan and so many others claimed him to be and did love Ellia and his children however the in the end the Azor Ahai prophecy drove him mad into abducting Lyanna and holding her captive in Dorne. It was almost like Beauty and the Beast where essentially she had the freedom to do anything, go wherever, and anything she needed was granted under the condition she not leave the keep. Rhaegar thoroughly explained to her that none of this will make any practical sense to her and but he believes their child the product of ice and fire will be the prince that was promised. He also explains he will not rape her under no circumstances and only share her bed at her invitation. Of course Lyanna being Lyanna doesn’t surrender that easily, tries to escape on multiple occasions, and the two get fight each other and have a couple sword duals here and there but in the end if two people of the opposite sex spend enough time on their own they will fall in love. Lyanna eventually does start falling for her captor, they marry, conceive Jon and plan on raising him in secret in Dorne.
    Either way Rhaegar dies on the trident meaning he did fight for his family in the end. He’s clearly not going to meet Robert on the trident for his father’s orders, at this point these two are at odds. He’s doing it to protect Aegon and Rhaenys unknowing of Tywin’s betrayal.
    I think he envisioned himself raising all three of his children and be with both Ellia and Lyanna much like Aegon did with his two sisters. I know Ellia would be content with this being Dornish and what not, might take Lyanna some getting used to however. Who knows maybe after Robert’s level of infidelity she wouldn’t mind it.

  • @rudrakhadye.

    Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, the last Prince of Dragonstone, was the eldest son and heir to King Aerys II Targaryen, the Mad King. He was the older brother of Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen and the husband of Elia Martell, with whom he had two children: Rhaenys and Aegon Targaryen.
    Secretly, however, Rhaegar annulled his marriage with Elia and married Lyanna Stark in Dorne. Rhaegar's alleged "abduction" of Lyanna sparked Robert's Rebellion as Lyanna was betrothed to Robert Baratheon. Robert killed Rhaegar at the climactic Battle of the Trident, bringing on the deposition of the Targaryen dynasty. Lyanna's brother Eddard Stark found her soon afterward at the Tower of Joy in Dorne, where she was dying in childbirth. She had just given birth to her son with Rhaegar and begged her brother to keep her baby safe. To protect the child from Robert and others who sought the absolute destruction of House Targaryen, Eddard claimed his sister's son as his own bastard child whom he had fathered during the war: Jon Snow.

    Rhaegar is probably one of the, if not the most popular character and he's only had about 20 seconds of screen time

    I wonder if he really fell in love with lyana, or just a shared admiration with a tinge of “yeah, this is destined”. Rhaegar was always perfect in the books in battle, inteligence and charisma. But he was also portrayed as a sentimental, almost depressed loner who took the prophecy as a non negotiable aspect of his life, like a deity among mortals similar to griffith in berserk

      There is no person called Rhaegar who was born after Robert's Rebellion but Rhaegar Frey, a grandson of Walder Frey, was named after him when he was the gallant knight and prince. Rhaegar went North to Winterfell but went missing on the way in the fifth book

      +Samuel Schönenberger His disappearance was probably due to Lord Wyman Manderly's plan to avenge the Starks by causing the Frey's ultimate fall. Rhaegar Frey is speculated to have been killed in a fan theory which has been named as the Frey Pies, which was also referenced in GoT's sixth season finale. Also, Manderly clearly despised Rhaegar in the books, as he described him to Davos as a "worm with a dragon's name".

      Ace head Daenerys did. She named her son 'Rhaego' combining the names Rhaegar and Drogo. Not only that, Rhaegal, one of the dany's dragons is named after him.

    If Robert really loved llyanna as he said he did, he would have cared for that child as if it were his own, maybe even humbled him a little. Many are the men who would accept any version of his lost love rather than leave his love lost. Even her child.

    Lyanna being a good swordsman has nothing to do with jousting. It's brought up multiple times that she was a great horse rider and jousting is pretty much all how you ride the horse. So I think Rheagar was impressed that it was a lady when he found her I. The woods

    Rhaegar is alive and well. He's the two face God. A skilled killer who's also a scholar. He was so fond of Arya Stark because she reminded him so much of Her Aunt. That's my theory

    Rhaegar feels like a main character in his own TV show, and then suddenly the actor dies in a car crash and the studio has to move on. Its like everything after Rhaegar’s death only exists in his shadow.

    Did Rhaegar believe all three of his children would be the 3 heads of the dragon? He named a baby Aegon in the house of the undying then said there must be one more. We assume this was his first son. But now we know Jon's name is Aegon - he probably learned something that convinced him it wasn't his first son but his second son that would be the promised prince. The other? He probably saw Daenrys, he did look right at here saying 'there must be one more' in the house of the undying. I think the the third dragon he sees is the child between Jon and Dany - not his 3 children.

    I like to believe that Rhaegar did indeed want to fulfill the prophecy in the beginning, but would eventually put that aside for a chance at love. When you really think about it, Rhaegar had a bad relationship with his father, maybe an okay one with his mother and a neutral one with this brother. Aside from his friends like Sir Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy, that's about it. Even his relationship with Elia is hinted to be one of friendship at best. So for him to fall in love with Lyanna would be a good story-arc of seeing him have a change of hurt, where instead of marrying Lyanna to fulfill a prophecy, he marries her for love. It would be a good character development for him.
    If they do a Robert's Rebellion prequel series, I really hope they do the character justice. I want to see him brought to life on the screen.
