We did this ClosetMaid system last year ourselves. Did all three walls as there are two of us. Total cost was a little over $800. (no discounts) and purchased both at Amazon and Home Depot. The project took us the entire weekend. Looks great and we are happy with what we chose. Neighbor paid over $5000 for something a little bit fancier by a company that advertises here in The Villages. Rusty, it is surprising how much more storage use that you can gain from organizers. I am a retired Professional Woodworker of over 35 years. I designed , built and installed my own closet organizers in 6 closets in my house. I actually started my own woodworking business and was going to specialize in closet organizers but I had more commercial business than I anticipated, so I phased that part out. Mine are completely changeable, they hang on a wall mounted cleat, similar to California Closet. You can move them from left to right or on another wall. Also I offered shoe shelfs and drawers. Some customers told me the wire racks would leave "grill marks" on some clothes after they had been stored on them. On yours I would suggest lowering the rod you have your pants hanging on and using pants hangers to avoid the crease that developes while hanging. By doing this you gain some more shelf space above. If I had done your organizers, they are 100% custom, 3/4" melamine material, 1 year guaranteed, but would cost between $2500 to $3000. Its been a long time since I have built any, so that price may be off. But it looks nice, but not as nice if I had built them.

Installed this system in two different homes over the years and never had a problem with any of the components. Over the years, they looked and operated just like the day they were installed. And, as for the holes on the side...No Big Deal; you may even decide to arrange the shelving differently over time! Very informative Rusty, for those looking to expand their closet space.

Anyway I am here on my Lifestyle visit and a guy sitting at the bar in McGradys Friday looked like you from the side but when I saw him straight on, nope not you. Hi Rusty, what a transformation and the solid shelves and doors and metal poles and hardware were very good choices, nice job! The additional organized storage space sure does makes the closet ready for sharing, lol. Btw, I'll be at TV in a couple of days through next week, looking at new homes. If you're interested, would like to meet up for a drink (old fashioned, margarita?) to get your insight into new TV homes/sites. I also have some ideas on potential future content.
Looks great Rusty! We ended up just putting two levels of ventilated shelving in our MBR closet, using the SuperSlide shelving so we had a continuous closet rod. (The dividers in the original closets were driving my wife and I nuts LOL). We have a lot of stuff that hangs up, so having more closet rod space was important for us. We did leave a section of the shelving at the bottom empty in order to hang longer clothes. One thing that surprised/disappointed me was that most of the original shelving was just installed into the sheet rock. To the extent that they used the metal studs at all, they just used screws without toggle bolts or anything so there just isn't a lot holding all that up. Glad we were able to replace it before it came down on us! I used toggle bolts wherever I could to improve the durability of it so hopefully it lasts awhile!

Look great! I used the Elfa stuff from Container Store(here in MD). I did it myself too. It is very satisfying! The closets there are small, so you definitely need to do something with them. The solid shelves look great in pantries too.
I’m impressed with the price, recently I got wire shelves-36” with 2 vertical hangers, and the things that hook into the verticals and supported the wire shelves, I think I got 5 and it was over $200!

Looks great. I don't understand why you would want to 'dimple' in your caulk. If you create an indentation into the wall at each of those many points won't you have dents everywhere you pushed the caulk in?

The price really surprised me. I existed it to be over 1000. We haven't done our closets in the Villages yet but up in Virginia we have the Elfa system in all our closets. It is a very flexible DIY system although they offer installation. We've configured and reconfigured so many times over the decades and even moved various pieces from our previous to current home. That said, it's alot more expensive. In TV we do have two rows of the Rubbermaid wire closet shelves, but we have vaulted ceilings so 10 feet in the closet and I can't reach my second row without a ladder, so that will have to eventually change.
