Hey Diesel. I bought one of these firepits a while ago (different brand and much more expensive … dang it!!) and I found that despite the bottom plate (‘ash tray’), it’ll still burn any green grass on the ground underneath the plate from the fire itself.
For me, the solution to that problem was to purchase a Drifta Stockton Firepit Base Stand/Plate which raises the whole kit and caboodle off the deck and allows a decent air gap between the underside of the tray and the ground resulting in no burnt grass. At $80, it’s over half the cost of your firepit but apart from that, I can confirm that it works very well. You may find that some if not all caravan parks won’t appreciate having to deal with dead grass patches from firepits despite the fire itself being off the ground. Just an idea 🤘

Yeah I agree, no one likes a dead grass spot and I'm included 😂 used it camping on the weekend and it was great, really happy with it so far 👍

Looks like a great small Fire Pit, i think I'll stick with my Half a 44 Gallon Drum one as its handy for Storage on the Roof of My Pajero. Also good to see you taking your "Guard Dog" camping in the Bush

Keeps me safe mate 😂 rest of the family didn't want to come out so at least I had someone to talk to 😁

Lifting half a 44 gallon drum on and off your roof rack sounds like a good idea but how does the foldable fire pit go when you load it up. Handles a bigger fire alright mate?

Yeah it does taking her out this weekend actually, I tend to get excited with fires and can't help but get her going a bit more than I should 😂

so any reason why you chose this model/brand? It seems to be a very popular/common design sold under many different brands.

I came across vicoffroad when I was looking for another product actually 😂
Checked their website out a bit more and noticed it. Been thinking about it for ages, Price was good, the other transaction was painless and also well priced which was good enough for me.
I generally stick with a company or brand until there's a reason not to.

I have a Darche. Exactly the same but $100 dearer for no reason. Buy the cheaper one for sure.

Yeah wondered what the difference is myself but as long as it does the same job it's hard to justify isn't 👍
