That's TERRIBLE. THEN the racism of the caller and his horrible comments are despicable. All Basquiat can do is laugh it off embarrassedly to make it appear less cruel. It's tragic what he went through every day in an f'ing white art world that didn't want to include brilliant geniuses of color. But Basquiat has the last laugh - his brilliant art, his name and his face will live on forever.

Non Blacks think they have the right to tell FBA how to deal with our pain.
He’s not FBA
Jean Michel Basquiat🇵🇷🇭🇹
Lol I’ve had this same situation happen to me about 8 yrs ago when I was trying to explain how my hair works to the people who asked they all cut me off as if they knew about my type of hair more than me, talked loud over me didn’t wanna allow me answer. After seeing this I think that’s just how a lot of them are like they don’t even know they’re being rude. Could also be an ego thing anyway looking at him is like I saw myself being 💩 on.
You should never answer when they ask about your hair. Do you care about their hair?
Exactly. Constant ego trip, its crazy.
this makes me want to leave earth like he did
Lol
And we want the theatre back now!
How come all the video i see of Jean Michel the audio and sound is great but when i pull up something from the 90s it looks all pixelated and sounds like garbage?
I was 8 years old in 1982 and that's when I first came to the United States of America... I don't like that everybody's just making fun of him and you know they're so rude you know they don't have no clue what he's going through that's not fair..
🙏🏾🕊️
Are the other people in the video still around today?
I especially felt that Viktor Bockris was extremely dismissive of Jean.
The Devil was jealous of Jean because he was a genius and a person of color. That's it and that's all. Rest in peace Jean is greatly missed and loved 4ever
Only one LEGEND in that room!
Totally ♥
My favourite artist👍🏻. The look on his face at the end is heartbreaking...smh...that guy in the phone is a piece of shit...
That entire group was disgusting. I'm sure they likely went on to raise children who, if they're here among us, are just as cold and racist as they are/were.
What I find funny is he is one of the most beautiful people there and definitely more so than the idiots trying to insult him.
Basquiat’s favorite movie is Taxi Driver I think . Hollywood twin cinema.
wild
Now he’s everywhere
Who is that n the red jacket?
Pain
the thing is basquiat is quoted in saying that he thought the film he did with Glenn O'Brien was horrible as he was taken advantage of.
Was that Johnny Ramone on the phone?
Guy in red he better call saul
Jean I like the look don’t be sad
That's TERRIBLE. First of all, the way the white people on the show respond to Basquiat's experience is appalling - telling him what he should do instead of really listening and taking in what he had to go through all the time.
@ Frank @ Aubrey Jean said they are at the back of my head screaming so hospital and he put his hand down. He said tell Frank
This is so disgusting on so many levels.
He should of hang out in Spanish Harlem🇵🇷🗽with his own people🇵🇷🗽🇭🇹👨🏽🎨💎
Chosen One. Can't fit in nowhere.
YOOO PLEASE $HARE THIS HOLLYWOOD BURNT UP A WHILE BACK! SAK PASSÉ!
how can i see the complete interview?
We’re those his friends??
was his favourite movie taxi driver? The pronunciation got smothered in the ambiance
Yes, he watched it all the time.
okay this is the first time i've ever heard him speak and had no idea he had an american accent. i thought he was ffrench.
Yeah he was of Haitian lineage but born/raised in Brooklyn NY
"We would have to boycott everything", lol.
I know one person be good for this role Kid Cudi
there responses are so dismissive. if it doesn’t affect them, they don’t care to understand
honestly yo, wtf is good with yt ppl
Uh Frank? I’m still here?!
Typical bypassing, the guy in the red clearly has no idea what Basquiat was talking about.
👦🏿
He wasn’t going to the Hollywood Twin for no movie… they show good movies but after that… its party time… movies back then was not 10 dollars. More like 50 cents.
This guy is a JEAN-ius
This is painful to watch. Even his “friends” don’t support him
What did the man on the phone say?
'You invited Buckwheat'. 😤
Who are those jerks with Basquiat?
This world was so cruel to him.
Mans had to laugh to stop from crying 😞
One of the most talented artists and genuinely kind people and "Buckwheat"?
Sigh...glad so much has changed, huh?
This is gross.. but rest in power to Basquiat
Cruelty
PT369
now why tf did they dismiss my king like that. wtf. hope the theater;s closed now
Drake please listen yourself
sucks he had to be surrounded by a bunch of arrogant ignorance. unfortunately, not much has changed.
This is a small window into the racism, prejudice and classism Basquiat had to deal with. You can only laugh off so much. 'Buckwheat" "Thief" wow
also could be a ploy.
