      You're not the first one and won't be the last one. Chances of full success with depigmentation therapy without having extensive vitiligo are low. Partial success would just mean patchy skin for life. The risk is not worth it. If you can stop in time and save your skin, it would be for the best.

My biggest concern is that if I apply it all over my face, will it discolour my entire face in the same time as I applied it or will blemishes/patches appear on my face unevenly? I don't worry about how it will appear on the neck or other side of the body and I can be patient to wait for the process but on the face...

    I used monobenzone for over a year because someone recommended it to me for my terrible melasma without realizing it turned out to be a depigmenting for vitiligo patients and now I have white spots/patches over my body and face. I went to a vitiligo specialist and the repigmentation treatments are way too expensive which I can't afford at all and think it's pointless... I don't know what to do. Part of me wants to use monobenzone again to see if I can even the white patches out and depigment entirely although I don't have autoimmune vitiligo but now chemically induced vitiligo so I'm not sure if it would spread throughout. Any advice?

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  5 месяцев назад

      Your case entirely depends on how your immune system reacts to monobenzone. I can't predict. No one can. I am sorry to hear that you got into this situation without knowing. If your vitiligo spreads without you doing anything it's autoimmune vitiligo. Then you can monobenzone to finish it off. If not, repigmentation therapies are better option.

    • @davidbaby7138
      @davidbaby7138 5 месяцев назад +1

      There were some spots that spread on my feet but nothing else. I asked someone else and they told me that it could just be from monobenzone still being in my body. And repigmentation therapy costs too much money and there's some pigment that won't ever come back... I feel like I'm at a point of no return and that I need to continue using it. Idk...

      @@TheVitiligoExperience it is a suplier from China, it seems very professional. I get the powder and go to a Compounding Pharmacy with the recipe. Unfortunately my dermatologist cannot evaluate it, as he prescribed it to me to make a try, he himself does not know the product to say whether it is fake or the real product ... after much research, I deduced that it would be the real product, because the appearance and the effect after use [ mild burning, little particles on the skin] are the same as I read.

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  4 года назад +7

      Yes it can be. The main issue I saw with Chinese monobenzone is that the crystal size is too big, so absorption is not great. They have average particle size of 200 micrometer. In comparison if you buy from a supplier who sells micronised, the particle size is less than 20 micrometer. Average 10 micrometer. That is great for absorption and gives better results. Send me a pm through one of my social media accounts and I could probably help you connect with right suppliers. A lot also depends on which state of vitiligo you began your treatment.

    I don’t have vitiligo, and i’m planning on using it for cosmetic depigmentation. To avoid my real skin color coming back, what can i do? if i apply monobenzone daily for more than 2 years, will it permanently kill my melanocytes?

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  2 месяца назад

      The chances of true success with this approach is less than 1 in 5 people. You should know the risk before going on this path. You may either get stuck halfway where you don’t get any more lightening no matter how much monobenzone you use or you begin getting your pigment back half way through. This drug js meant for people with extensive vitiligo and abusing the drug is extremely risky.

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  2 месяца назад

      @ik4564 I have been doing this since 2008 and have seen all types of cases. The ones who struggle most are the ones without any vitiligo to begin with. Please know that it’s not monobenzone which has the capability to kill off 100% of pigment cells. It can only damage the pigment cells. The actual killing is done by your immune system which has killer T cells who hunt and flush out the pigment cells. Without developing autoimmunity, complete depigmentation is impossible. People who have autoimmune vitiligo don’t struggle with depigmentation because their immune system is already trying to kill off the pigment cells and monobenzone just accelerates the process.

    • @melii2007
      @melii2007 2 месяца назад +1

      If you don’t have vitiligo, unfortunately monobenzone may not work for you as it works for people with autoimmune vitiligo. Monobenzone works through your immune system. If you force it, you may lose some pigment but not universally and it will stop working after a while once your body develops tolerance to it.

      Yes on the surface, it is the strongest one ever but it will not uniformly lighten your skin. The most likely scenario is that along with some general lightening you will get white spots of vitiligo which you will never be able to fix, so you will need to continue using the cream till all your pigment is stripped off. Unless you acquire autoimmune vitiligo, your body will keep trying to get back the pigment that you lost and you will get stuck in a never ending cycle of white and brown spots.

      @TheVitiligoExperience  Год назад +2

      1. if your body is 50-55% covered in Vit, I would say around an year.
      2. It is permanent and once dead, those melanocytes are flushed away. However with regular sun exposure, stem cells in the hair roots can convert to new melanocytes cells, so you should try to avoid regular sun exposure after depig.
      3. No, monobenzone has systematic effect, so there is no need to apply everywhere. First of all you absolutely should avoid using it on white spots. Just use it on brown bits. I never applied on my back, genitalia, under arms etc but they all depigged due to the systematic effect of monobenzone.

      it took me around 18 months to depig fully though i got 60% of my results during first 4 months and then it slowed down duirng the rest of the therapy. this is normal for most people. I made my own because the readymade tubes were very expensive ( 80 usd for 20gm) at the time when i was going through depig in 2007. Now a days a 30gm tube is around 10 usd, so it makes sense to use ready made tubes these days. I got my prescription for monobenzone from a dermatologist in UAE. @TheVitiligoExperience  3 года назад +5

      It's difficult to determine beforehand what your experience will be. You are assuming that everything will go your way. The chances of that happening is far less than the chances of things not going how you want it. You need to understand that Monobenzone itself does not kill all the pigment cells. It merely injures them. After that it triggers your immune system which needs to mistake the injured pigment cells as foreign debri and kill off all the other pigment cells in your body. In case of vitiligo patients, this process is already happening because of autoimmune nature of their vitiligo. If you do not have autoimmune vitiligo to begin with, it's not easy to predetermine if you will eventually develop it because a lot depend on your genetics and environmental factors.
      I have not heard many success stories of people who used monobenzone without vitiligo and are happy with their decision. The people who normally approach me are the ones who tried it and regretted it and are stuck with stubborn vitiligo patches.
      All I can tell you is that it's a huge risk that you are taking and while financially it may be peanuts to procure monobenzone but you won't be able to put the price on the self inflicted harm if this goes south and you don't get the intended results.

    Hello! First, thank you for the informative videos, and I have become one of your followers. I have been suffering from vitiligo for 7 years now, and I have tried all available methods to repigment the white areas on my body, but to no avail. I have white spots on my hands, face, neck, and private areas, with a few on my feet. Recently, I started using monobenzone on the sensitive areas, and it yielded good results. Now, I am considering full body depigmentation even though my vitiligo percentece its about 30 %, but I am concerned that my skin color after bleaching will appear dull and somewhat unnatural. Another concern is my inability to live normally and be exposed to the sun, as my work mostly involves being outdoors. Will using sunscreen solve this problem? Can I still go to the beach?

      It will depend if you get the true form of vitiligo which is autoimmune vitiligo. In order for that to trigger, you need to have some type of genetic susceptibility to vitiligo. if it is not in your genes, you will end up with chemical vitiligo which is just another word for patchy skin which you can't depig fully no matter how long you try. On such skin, monobenzone will stop working after a while and you will get stuck in that phase without being able to go forward or backwards.

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  3 года назад +3

      See it's a toss up. At best you can depigment normally with skin getting lighter each month till you depig. At worst it will not work for you and you will get stuck with patchy skin for several years before you can finish it off with a combination of ruby lasers, monobenzone and TCA peels. As a skin lightener, it is one of the riskiest ways to do it as if you use it for long time, it could affect your hair and you could end up dyeing your hair for life. Also if you use it for extended periods of time, you could also accidentally rub it off to other people and put them at risk of developing vitiligo patches.
      The reason it is meant for people with Autoimmune vitiligo is because it works through immune system and for them it's a breeze because their immune system is already trying to destroy their pigment and monobenzone just helps along.

One should immediately try to go to a good dermatologist specialist in vitiligo and try to get back the pigment using steroids, Immuno modulators and UV therapy. If the spread is extensive, then going for complete depigmentation would be the only practical choice.

    Hello Sanjay sir
    I do not have vitilgo but I used it as skin whitening agent from past 3 months with menoquil and 88 percent phenol . Now it has spread to my face , legs and hands . It has caused permanent depigmentation in my skin . Now I have blotchy spots . I am still young , so can you please help me sir . How do I restore pigment or completely remove remaining pigment. Please reply me early. I need your help eagerly . I have no proper information on this.

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  3 года назад +1

      You should immediately see a dermatologist and explain your situation. These chemicals are not approved to be used on your own on normal skin. If you use permanent depigmenting chemicals, you will get permanent depigmentation on your skin. it should not be a surprise. It is a usually an irreversible process and it is extremely difficult to go back to your original normal skin unless you go through months of intensive treatment at the dermatologist clinic.

      It’s really sad to see you in such condition. If your doctor is of the opinion that you can’t get back your original pigment back, then you can choose to remove the remaining pigment but unless you have autoimmune vitiligo, this could be a lengthy process as your doctor said. If you have autoimmune vitiligo, then perhaps you can finish the process quicker, say an year or two. But please throw away the phenol and just use Monobenzone tubes twice a day on the remaining pigment area.

      Even if you get chemical vitiligo, the chances of successfully completing depigmentation is 1 out of 5 and other 4 will face problems with monobenzone not working after some time. So the ideal candidate with guaranteed success is someone with extensive auto immune vitiligo.

      Monobenzone is used as a last resort for people who have suffered for years with their vitiligo. It puts them out of their misery by inducing vitiligo in areas which are still brown. There are no injections available. It's available only in cream form to be used externally on skin. Please don't get scammed by people on Instagram promising all sorts of miracles. If you don't have more than 50% vitiligo, you need to mentally prepared for around 2 yrs or so.

    • @TheVitiligoExperience
      @TheVitiligoExperience  Год назад

      If you have autoimmune vitiligo, then there is no need to use Monobenzone ever again once you depigment. It's permanent unless you expose regularly to sun which could bring some repig spots. For people without autoimmune vitiligo, they will never reach full depigmentation as their body will develop tolerance to monobenzone much before they get fully depigmented and it could stop working midway.

    • @TheVitiligoExperience

      It will depend if you get the true form of vitiligo which is autoimmune vitiligo. In order for that to trigger, you need to have some type of genetic susceptibility to vitiligo. if it is not in your genes, you will end up with chemical vitiligo which is just another word for patchy skin which you can't depig fully no matter how long you try. On such skin, monobenzone will stop working after a while and you will get stuck in that phase without being able to go forward or backwards.

      i would strongly suggest you to stop using it if you do not have vitiligo. depig will never be successful without someone having vitiligo first. even if you get some lightening, the risks of getting white patches is huge and without vitiligo, the lightening will be temporary and your body will keep trying to get back the original color. It could potential result in patchy skin forever. the sucess rate of skin lightening using monobenzone is very low and most people regret it because they're not aware that they will end up with vitiligo for life.

      Yes, monobenzone works systematically and it doesn't matter where on your body you apply it. You can still end up triggering vitiligo even if you apply a dot of cream. Vitiligo begins as a pinhead of white spot before it spreads to bigger patches. The only thing you can do about it is to prevent it by not exposing yourself to dangerous chemicals. Once triggered, there is no cure for it.

      Yes. It's ideal if your dermatologist writes a prescription but if he is not cooperative and you are a deserving candidate, you can choose to do it yourself. Join our depigmentation support group on FB facebook.com/groups/vitiligodepigment/?ref=share_group_link

      No, it doesn't. Monobenzone has been FDA approved since 1952 for depigmentation for Vitiligo patients. If this was true, many such cases would have shown up and it would be mentioned in some scientific paper by now.

    Does hydroquinone over 20% give the same effect as monobenzone?

      no. they are completely different chemicals and mechanism of action is different. while HQ can provide temporary skin lightening it does not kill off melanocytes cells completely that monobenzone does.
