    I bought the Ranger School training program. 10/10 would recommend. It’s freaking challenging though if you’re like me and suck at running.

    I came to your channel recently because I’m trying to train for AASLT while here in Hawaii. Your Ruck tips have definitely helped as I’m in the Air Force and need all the help I can get. I’m planning for an October slot this year and will be completing an ACFT this month as my leadership wants to see myself and the others interested do this test.
    Thank you for the videos and keep up the great work!

    Hey i know this doesn’t pertain to the video you’re doing here, but I was directed to message you from a youtuber named Team Swartz, i had a question for him on his live stream he’s currently doing as we speak and he told me you would be able to answer my question because he wasn’t too sure. So my question is, If i’m active duty army and still have a 4 year contract left, and i’m also an operator in the 75th Ranger Regiment. What would i need to do if i wanted to get into Marine Marsoc?

      Currently in pre rasp rn, all I can say is stay decipined with a diet, stay lean but fit, and run a ton! Do as many push ups, situps, and pullups/chin ups as you can. Learn how to rope climb, and train up to running 5 miles in under 36 mins while still having energy left over, ex a ruck run or an obstacle course. Be mentally ready to adapt and have nothing get to your head. You won't have privacy and remember to respect your Cadre. Look up a ton about Ranger History. OSUT really won't be much compared to RASP.

    • @blazegulizack
      @blazegulizack 2 года назад +7

      DO NOT rely on osut to get you into shape! I have an 18x contract and I'm in week 18. So far my run times and general fitness have dropped a little. Came in running a 12:48 2 mile and now it's a 13:30! They let us use the track 1nce a week,twice at the most! Show up with a 280-300 apft and aim to max it. It's on you 100% to keep up your fit ess here. Pt is a joke. Also I lost a lot of motivation. Most of the guys in my PLT are lazy and unmotivated as fuck! Plus the Drills stopped giving a fuck after basic..

  • @zachlyfts
    @zachlyfts 2 года назад +16

    I want to go with an 18X contract and become a Ranger straight out high school. I've been watching your videos since last December and changed my training from just weightlifting to a balance of endurance and strength and got my 1MR pr down to 6:48, and just ran 8 miles Friday. Thanks man

      I don't know where you are in your timeline, but Ranger and Special Forces are 2 different animals. If you haven't figured it out by now, do some research and make sure your getting the contract you want and not 18X by mistake.
      TLDR: 18X = Chance at SFAS
      Option 40 = Chance at RASP

    Thank you for doing this, Grit! I am retired- 8 years USMC (82-90), Army Reserve 'til 2005. Now a cop in AK. I'm coming up to 59 years old and have trained hard all my military life. I have shoulder and other injuries to contend with, and I have fallen out of shape, + somewhat overweight. NOT liking this "me" at all. I still have a shit-ton of my old equipment and have just started rucking again, watching you and Grunt Proof for advice. I have the heart, I have the desire, I just need to get the OOMPH back in this old carcass.... Do you have any advice for me?

    How strong do you need to be to be a ranger? Will normal exercises weighted like push ups, pull ups, and sit ups and practicing rucking get me there? Or do I actually need to strength train with heavy weights? Or will I be strong enough just by training normal exercises with weight.

    USAF Captain '86-'93 and lifelong rugby player. I have enjoyed watching your videos they are very well done. Look I don't mean to be a dick, but you have to have proper terminology. Unless you are planning to sing along to some Wayne Newton tune, the warmup where you shift feet back and front is called Carioca.

    Should I lose muscle to become a better runner? I’m 6’1” 225 with a relatively low body fat percentage but I’m not great at distance running. Or do I need to just run more over a longer period of time. Can you be muscular and a great distance runner?

    • @GrittySoldier

      You can do both, it’s just going to take a lot of time. More than likely you’ll lose some mass, but just keep lifting heavy and you’ll maintain most

      To put more emphasis on the press itself, rather than as a complex movement. This will build more shoulder strength.

    I don't mean to take away from any business but Ranger School has 30, 60 and 90 day plans for free on their website. I'd just take that plan and either follow it or tweak it how you'd like. Don't buy these plans like Mountain Athlete when there is free stuff out there.
    Also, Ranger Regment (not the school) has RAW 4.0 which can be found online for free. Regiment is the fittest unit I know of so follow whatever they are doing.

The dumbbells' go from 5 -50 and the bench is very strong and well built .If there is an Aldi's near you check them out ...Great value for beginners like me again ...My ez curl bar disappeared about 30 yrs ago need to re find a used one ... Income is based on a 20 hour part time job plus social security .So I have to buy value and wisely... Currently they are offering a door hanging tricep rope pulldown .

Quick question tho, how good of a swimmer do you need to be for RASP/Ranger school and any recommendations on what techniques you’ll be using. You don’t have to be a great swimmer at all, just be able to survive in the water. CWST is only a portion SOF a day at RAP week, and the headrest part is the dunk and ditch (where you need to remove your gear under water).
