@@SuperMetaFun You won’t be disappointed. Especially once you start to learn even more secrets than what you showed in your video. Like the easiest/fastest World/Stage combo to max out your lives to 99 in a matter of moments, (the stage is located at “Twin Bridges” 😉). Or once you have a ⭐️96 on your save file WITH the game layout set to “Autumn” for the World Map. Also there’s a trick to getting every single block to show a “green O” in the bonus pipe room. You’ll need a certain Power-Up & to hit each block in a certain spot to get all of them. I recommend tracking down a copy of the special “Mario Mania” Nintendo Power to learn so much about Super Mario World that I didn’t even mention yet.

kinda makes me think about the many romhacks of this game, and wonder if at large, has the hacking scene kinda missed the idea of exploration in favor of either raw difficulty, or spectacle.
Super Mario World does a lot with a little when it comes to its mechanics. The simple act of the spin jump and throwing objects upward brings a lot of new ideas in how Mario can interact with the environment and some enemies. Add in the enemy mechanics on top of this you can make some challenging precision platforming levels.
@@SuperMetaFun yeah, and "less is more" is seldom the Creed for most ROM hackers and modders of any game, maximalism is usually the name of the game. It's not always a bad thing but when amateurs pick up the work of the hackers that create that stuff, they tend to use it without much thought.
Spin jumps are basically useless in wonder. They are basically just worse jumps, since they no longer protect you from spikes, there is no longer the balance you mentioned of making Mario harder to control for a benefit. Then why even include it in the first place? Smw is the only mainline 2d Mario game to get it right.

I’m tempted to come back to it and make it my summer game of 2024. That or Twilight Princess.
