It's amazing how oblivious people are to motorcycles. Literally if a car checks their blind spots by looking over their shoulder, they will see one and yet I've been cut off by numerous cars changing lanes (especially on the highway) and I've had my motorcycle for less than a year. I mean if I wasn't diligent, then I could very well be dead. Stupid drivers are killing good drivers. Gosh I hate some people.
I've come to think that they just look on their mirrors for big objects (expecting a car, truck or bus), and then just go on if they don't see any, ignoring bikes. It's kinda stupid and really dangerous...and ofc they get mad at you, even if you don't lane split, wheelie or do squid stuff.
"If a car checks their blind spots" The first thing a riding instructor tells you is to avoid being in someone's blind spot and stay in view of their mirrors. It's called a BLIND SPOT for a reason. You can't safely check a blind spot at 60mph. If you're in someone's blind spot and they knock you off your bike you have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm good friends with a riding instructor and he says that above the highway code, road laws, everything, that there is *ONE* golden rule; _Ride as if everyone around you is an idiot._

I ride a bike, I lane split, lane splitting it fun, but yesterday I was splitting and a car drove me into the side of the road round a corner and I hit a rather large pile of mud and low sided. The driver drove off and left me there. Luckily I am undamaged and the bike still runs but I came off lucky. I will continue to lane split because who can be fucked waiting in shitting traffic when you don't have to.
