There are no spoilers in the mystery files. Don’t worry about unlocking them. They will actually fill out with more info once you go through the story.
And after you guys done with any story part you should click the mystery file before closing to see which is updated. Otherwise it is easy to forget all the plot point in this game since there is so much, especially if you only play it daily and not binge like most players
Piecing the story together on event archive is very much considered gameplay in this game compared to other games that would treat it as an afterthought glossary of sorts. The Mystery Files are also supposed to be unlocked at your own discretion. The beauty of this game is that there is no correct way to play it. A big reveal to one player can be something another player predicted a long time ago just due to the sequence that they play through the game. Don’t hesitate to just go through it and trying to piece everything together. Hearing your theories is what we want to hear as well. As a note, another Let’s Player called NicoB did a 10 hour stream after finishing the game just piecing the story together. So don’t hesitate having whole episodes just sitting there theorising
Mystery files don't directly spoil anything. If you get new information, they get updated to reflect that, avoiding spoilers. They are a handy tool for remembering stuff you have already encountered *without* getting spoiled. So feel free to use them when you want to remember something about a character/place/event/etc.
The jigsaw puzzle comparison is how I like to describe the narrative of this game. The game hands you the middle pieces first, and you have no idea what to do with them, but you accept the pieces since you're curious how it'll turn out at the end. Don't be too worried about not understanding the story at first. Also, don't forget to check out the Analysis section if you need to. Part of the fun of this game is piecing things together yourself and don't be too worried about theorizing too much on screen. That's part of the fun of this game and I love watching people put together the jigsaw puzzle of this story over time.
I would recommend using your Mystery Points when you get them. They contain information about what you already know, but make sure to exclude any spoilers. As you learn more, the information is added to the mystery file as the game progresses. It's a good way to keep track of your progress, and let's your theory crafting be enhanced.
In an attempt to reassure you, I think Megumi asking all sweet and motherly is an attempt on her part to seem like the perfect housewife, rather than being Juro's mother. I know the difference is kind of subtle, but she's definitely crushing on the guy, not codling him.
You dont have to worry about spoilers in the mystery files. In my 2 playthroughs of this game, there was only 1 notable time i read something that wasnt yet shown it in the story section, and even then the real significance hadn't dawned on me until later. Considering how complex the story is and how many ways you can tackle it, the game excellently manages what info it gives you. So there is literally no reason not to just pick your favorite character and play until you hit a lock. No wrong way to play it.
The Analysis section is what’s going to help you piece the puzzles of this story. There aren’t spoilers, as they only summarize what you have seen in the events.
VERY IMPROTANT: the event archive is a very underrated aspect of this game, specially the one with all events. comparing news events you unlock with other major ones you have on the timeline is how you deduce a lot about the game. This game is not hand holdy and expects the player to go detective mode on it, have fun with it and take your time to absorb the vast amount of information thrown at you
I didn't use it much on my first playthrough, because I didn't realize you could get the chronological order from there. Still, it's all good, it meant more things in the game were surprises.
In addition to the mystery files, I also recommend keeping a close eye on the timeline/event Archive, as using it is helpful for understanding the order of events and for theorizing.
The Mystery Points do _NOT_ spoil the story. If a Mystery File is unlockable using Mystery Points, it _CANNOT_ be unlocked any other way. Additionally, Mystery Files do not spoil the story. They update as the story progresses based on what's been revealed to you so far. Edit: To put things another way: If something is in the Mystery Files, it's something the game no longer considers a spoiler. A _lot_ of care went into both _what_ is revealed in the Mystery Files and _when_ it's revealed. Sometimes, stuff not discussed in the game's Destruction or Remembrance sections will instead be revealed in the Mystery Files section. This is not a spoiler. Rather, it's the game's way of revealing part of the story to you. Mystery Files and Event Archives are very much intended to be part of the main game. There's a reason it's one of the three main menu options rather than being relegated to the pause menu like in most games. (The same can be said of Destruction. It's as much a part of the story as Mystery Files/ Event Archives and Remembrance are.)
To my knowledge, mystery files will only be unlocked if you unseal them, and they should not reveal any spoiler information that has not already been revealed. It is more along the lines of recontextualizing existing data or providing flavor text.
30:46 To clarify, the archives does not spoil anything in the game, since it updates alongside your playthrough. Any info available in the mystery files is info you have obtained, just organized in an easy-to-grasp system.
Mystery Files are not spoilers. All the files that are available to unlock is things you got through the story or battle usually something you already know. they might go tiny bit more in depth but not spoiler. Also the pages do get updated as time goes on with the story and battles.
46:20 By the way, this game does something some stage plays do where a character will step away from a conversation and say something. This isn't supposed to be the character speaking aloud. It's the character voicing their thoughts. They're basically just talking to themselves in those moments. Megumi couldn't hear Juro.
Note about the flowcharts, they're not alternate paths, every event does still happen. If you see the bits where you're walking around repeating, it's just suggested that their daily routine is usually the exact same across different days, with the main events being the only standout differences.
By the way, you can select an event in the event archive to rewatch/replay those events if you want to. You can also watch these events in the pause menu during Remembrance.
I'll add my voice to the recommendation that you engage with the mystery files and the timelines (like you did this episode). They are a core element of this game, or else it wouldn't have its own equal section with Destruction and Rememberance, and for that reason are not designed to spoil and update according to the scenes you've seen. Of course, how you want to play is up to you, but the game was clearly designed with the expectation that the player has access to the timeline of events and the files to clarify unclear scenes in order to deduce what's going on. Without them confusion is expected, and players are unlikely to remember which events are connected.
The way the game is laid out, you want to use the resources it gives you to keep track of what you do and do not know. It will be in your best interest to consult the Mystery Files throughout the game whenever you want to review any important information.
Nightmare is an understatement! I am loving how we are starting get just a little bit of how some of the characters are connected to each other. And how the relationships with each other being tied together even though many of them are going to the same school.
And now the real game can begin. Good luck, you two. If you thought the plot was hard to follow before, just a reminder; *_That was the tutorial._* Grinding your robots is welcome in the city.
this game is so cool from a viewer standpoint bc every lp of this game is different because of the ability to (to a certain extent) choose how you view the story/what order you view it in
I dunno about that. Combat is periodically locked behind story progression, and fights don’t last that long so the resulting stream could be very short.
@@bearic_ The problem with that is they need a really good mod team or just keep chat in emote only mode, because people WILL try and backseat or post vague spoilers
We’ve finally exited the tutorial. The real ride begins now. Rounding out the main cast, our 13th Sentinel pilot is Ryoko, voiced by Kira Buckland (2B from NieR Automata, Trucy from AA SoJ, Hiyoko from DR2 and Kirumi from V3). Really wish they coulda squeezed her in to someone else’s prologue because it was jarring to just have a brand new character dropped on us for the final tutorial battle. But that won’t be the end of the VA trivia, there’s still a few more side characters left, one of whom you saw at the end. The older Juro is voiced by… well actually I’m not sure, some accounts say it’s still Chris Hackney, while others say it’s actually Ben Diskin again. And the thing is, I could honestly believe either one, it’s really amazing that regardless of who it is, they both sound plausible, both actors have really good range to pull that off. Now that we’re in the real game, I’d like to offer my two cents. You are free to play however you want, however, in my opinion, the ideal (not necessarily *correct*, mind you) way to play is to jump around and view different character segments one at a time, and not trying to stick with one character as long as you can. That way, plot twists are more evenly paced and spread out, and you’re more likely to have better context for the larger narrative. It may be more confusing that way, but that’s what the Analysis section is for, feel free to consult that at any time for clarification and refreshers on what happened! Again, play how you like, that’s just my recommendation.
I can't swear by it, but I was pretty sure that if a character was a different form of the same person (like teenage and adult Juro), they were voiced by the same actor. I think the only exception might be when we let little kid flashbacks; it's hard to get a male voice to sound that high pitched.
some future events happen in the past, based on specific characters' viewpoints. we already saw this with megumi starting in 2024 and then "six months later" she's in 1984. I wouldn't assume that the year decides what is chronological.
Rush Attack (and most melee-type moves iirc) target single enemies at a time, so they're terrible at dealing with crowds but good for dealing with single stronger enemies.
I love that I paused the video to leave a comment when you said you didn’t want to use the mystery files because you were worried about spoilers only to see that half the comments are also “NO WAIT-” So since everyone’s already clarified that Mystery Files aren’t just answers / spoilers / the glossary, but a main game mechanic, I’ll just say that I’m so hype for this let’s play and your crazy theories! ❤
Hi-Quads can fire powerful lasers out and the timing is indicated by the yellow filling out the purple. Flare Torpedo helps too since it deals damage over time and they tend to stay still. It also destroys any missiles that they fire. The non active members will occasionally offer support be it anti air or shields. As people have been saying there are no spoilers in the files. Trying to piece together the story is half the fun. How you go about the story is completely up to you.
I didn't gush about the game on every episode like I said I would. Partially because I don't trust myself not to spoil the story, but also because I was a few episodes behind so I wanted to get caught up. Anyway, Takatoshi is one of my faves as well. Wouldn't say he is my favorite character but he's definitely on my top 5. As to who else is on that top 5, I'll keep it to myself for now
Don't dismiss the gameplay in this, it's definitely fun. People fall into the trap of thinking the gameplay doesn't matter, and they end up having a worse time with the game because they think it's irrelevant. Engage with it, it's fun.
The gameplay is so fun but a little easy so putting the game on casual is a huge mistake. Do what you want obviously but now there’s zero chance they’ll find any enjoyment out of it with how mindless it’ll be.
