- How to cook Dulce De Leche Brownies (adapted from David Lebovitz)
Ingredients:
1 stick butter
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3 large eggs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1 can dulce de leche
Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line an 8×8 baking dish with aluminum foil.
Place your butter in a medium saucepan set over medium heat and melt. Add your chocolate and continue cooking over medium heat, stirring often, until your chocolate is completely melted. Turn off the heat and whisk in your cocoa powder. Add your eggs, one at a time, whisking immediately and vigorously to prevent them from cooking before becoming fully incorporated. Finally, mix in your walnuts, sugar, vanilla and then your flour.
Pour half of your batter into the baking dish. Drop half of your dulce de leche onto the batter. Swirl the dulce de leche to spread it out slightly. Pour your remaining brownie batter over the dulce de leche swirls. Drop your remaining dulce de leche over the top and again swirl.
Bake the brownies for 35 to 45 minutes until the center is just set, then remove from the oven. Allow them to cool in the dish for 5 to 10 minutes and then lift the brownies and foil out of the dish and place on a wire rack to finish cooling.

I really appreciate the format of your videos. No BS intros or unnecessary chatter, just straight into the info and tight editing with clear shots. Hope you continue making these without succumbing to the occupational hazard of RUclips chefs, that being running out of good ideas.
just seen this video. I'm watching this in Argentina where dulce de leche is from, and you can find it in every grocery store, more than one type, no need to boil cans... Thank you for taking the time for making this video! David Lebovitz is simply the best!!!!
I just knew you were going to make something great with that dulce de leche you made the other day, or "arequipe", as we like to call it in Colombia. The brownies came out great!
I like it, recipe is also nicely given in the description box...... Wowww
Oh my... They look heavenly!
Love it. This will make me popular at work when I take some of these in :)
You're right, James. I *DO* have to try this!
Looks good
these look absolutely fantastic! :D
I made these again but forgot to preheat the dulce de leche. Of course I realised but didn't have time by then, so I went ahead and tried to swirl it in. It didn't really work as it remained separate from the brownie mix and in fact sank to the bottom where it stuck to the bottom of my cooking pan. Well now I know - James says things for a reason!! :)
i have to brake my diet😢i love this brownie😁 thankuuuu
😁 i love thatttt😂
Damn that looked good. That is bringing out my sweet tooth
I would make some, but instead of walnuts. I would use either hazel, almonds, peanuts, or brazil nuts. I like walnuts, but I don't want to go to the store each time I watch these just because. Second, I would use protein powder over flour. 😂😃
James, That looks interesting. Where do I purchase the dulce de leche? And what is it? I have not heard of it. TFS.
Oh my! James that looks absolutely heavenly. I want those brownies now 😊 they're so easy to make. Did you use an 8x8 pan?
***** they look amazing! I will be making these, I love one bowl recipes lol. Thank you x
***** I can imagine and that's why I avoid them all together haha! Yeah me too, mess is the worst part of baking and cooking. This is perfect because my daughter can actually make them and I can watch her. Thank you again
Lawdy!
Oh, you evil, evil, man......I'm SO making these! They look fabulous! I will blame the 10 lbs that will no doubt be sticking to my bum on you! ;p
Hi do you know how much the stick of butter weighs? We don't have butter sold in sticks here, so just need to know the quantity to use. Thanks
+James Strange thanks James, gonna try it tomorrow :)
+James Strange it just came out of the oven, so I still have the agonising wait for cooling to get through! Smelling good though :) I used a skewer to see if it was cooked but of course that doesn't work because the dulce de leche stops it coming out clean :D
that's too pale to be dulce de leche
