Yeah you would have failed in just about every state with emissions test. Most states go to the back and use the sniffer and that will get you every time. Unless you are running extreme hp or tracking the car cat less down pipes are not worth it. At least for guys that live in states that test. Here in Florida yeah you can get away with it but most shops will not touch your car because of the fines now for not reporting etc. high flow ones with the spacers work well and even large trucks one’s future back as a replacement for the resonator. Or even high flow off road truck one. What you’re looking for is airflow and the type of bends in the exhaust and reduce back pressure on that turbo. Min 3.5 inch pipe. Also water meth injection is always the best. Reduce intake temp cut the emissions way down. You want a meth kit that shows pressure at the nozzle. You don’t want to lean out. But with a kit like that you can run far leaner and safer than stock and get so much more efficient use of the fuel. Running the set up on my b58 x7 and crazy more torque. Just a tune and water meth and. High flow cat making around 460 at the wheel at peak. But the spools are just as fast and 3.5 inch pipe made huge difference. The x7 is huge and it takes off like my f30 335i. Also no terrible smell and gained some mpg at the pump. My water kit is stealth so I do fill my washer tank more often.
Your the guy on fb who passed in my state

@jbcars honestly I thought i had to keep my m550 stock because I didn't want to have to keep swapping these cats like I had to on my 535. Thanks

I tried the fabspeed catalyst spacer on my E90 N55 with a 300 cell DP and it still threw CEL so I’ve been skeptical trying in my G30 550..
