The young girl @ 1:09 would be about 60 years old now, I would love to see her reaction to seeing this clip of herself, I hope she has had a good life so far.
Wow!!! The first thing that strikes me is how well everyone is dressed. Thanks for sharing.
As a farang businessman, I first traveled to Bangkok in 1995. This video shows similar street scenes and street food, except the cars were different, and the clothes different. I'm now retired in Jakarta, and many similarities.
Surprisingly the spirit house shop at 0:30 is still around. It's right next to BTS/MRT Bang Wa Station, I recognized it right away since I passed that place every day.
no way!! 😀
Tuk Tuk design is never change even though time has passed for 55 years later.
Yes
"CLASSIC"
Don’t forget now the TUK Tuks all have colorful blinking LED lights and loud stereos playing techno if you want it. Also same loud exhausts 🤣
@@maxwellsmith9045 An auto rickshaw is a motorized version of the pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Most have three wheels and do not tilt. They are known by many terms in various countries including auto, baby taxi, pigeon, bajaj, chand gari, lapa, tuk-tuk, 3wheel or tukxi.
I can see tuk tuk patrol
Thank you. Brilliant. I had travelled to Bangkok first time in the 80’s and gone back there 30 times 👍👍
Haha
Ok here’s a confession
Not once did I ever take a massage or go for the women
Not my scene 😜😜😜 and I’m not gay
But I’m happy 😆
Love the food the buzz the value for $
The lady boys are cute but scary 😝😝😝
The saddest sight in Bangkok is the hookers alone on the road, in the rain, waiting in hope.
Jerk Of All Trades Bangkok.
But I do like Huan Hin. Chingmai.
Was it friendlier in the 80s? Were ladyboys and prostitutes as visible?
What an amazing piece of film history. Thank you for uploading this!
Man i love classic and nostalgic video,,,,,,respect from iran to thai pepole❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Superb video quality! Thanks for sharing this.
Lovely nostalgic feeling. Don’t mind the sound at all. Thank you for uploading. Would be great if you got more clips 🌻
Great video.Amazing quality seeing how it is 50 years old!
Awesome, thank you so much for your doing that work on this video.
holy, the image quality is amazing!
thank you... it amazing
The buses and the cars are simply awesome
Thank you for making this available on RUclips. It means so much to the baby boomers!
Thanks for sharing. This is a great video of Bangkok. Barely finding such clear quality.
This is truly amazing!
Thanks for the video
Wonderful Documentary!
Amazing quality
Markets exactly the same as now. Those sounds of the road have been added. You don't hear horns blowing, it would be considered impolite.
Absolutely... even in Pattaya on a Saturday night, you won't hear any horns blowing in traffic anywhere..
I've a Honda Tena. Yamaha Spark and a CBR300. The Tena is the best for Bangkok. Ride safe. Cheers.
Exactly!
yes, I added some sounds to the movie since my grandfather did not record any sounds and silent movies are not very popular. I have to apology that I did not have any traffic sounds without horns - would have been closer to reality, I understand.
Maybe back then honking was a norm. Not today. In the 80s the motor cyclist would rev up at the traffic signals and zoom to race, that was more noise than the honking.
Today motor cyclist don’t do it
Very interesting, enjoyed seeing this.
WOW marvellous footage 🙂
Thank you for clip video I'm never seen before Thailand in 1965 my father and my mom was very young
Wow Amazing 💙
This precious clip is ruined by the background 2000's electronic music.
I would have loved to add original music. If you have some royalty-free music from that time, please let me know.
@@HaraldReportagen I suggest this song.
ruclips.net/video/XV8-CrNxcgI/видео.html
This song is royalty free, composed by King Rama IX and recorded by the king's band in that age.
(Te wa pa koo fun)
The lyric is about a lonely girl in a beautiful town.
She said the god build this nice town but forget to send someone to be with her.
And the faked street sounds dubbed on.
As well as the added car horn blasts which is more like India than Thailand
@@johnflynn585 They used to use their horns too much. The Thai government years later stamped down on it.
I was born after this film 1 year. Even though in Bangkok at that time were heavy traffic but nobody horn a car
Yes
Eventhough no but
Wow, never imagined that there’s already traffic during those times, I love Bkk its my second home
Would be awesome if we could time travel back to then as it looks amazing
I agree I was only 3 years old , another 12 years I went to market with rattan basket and they wrapped stuffs with banana leaves.
@@ths.6935 I love all things Thai, the people are so friendly x
The vintage cars are now considered fancy collectors items there lol
A lot of them got destroyed sadly
Tuk Tuk is always Tuk Tuk! even in 1965! Great video!
So cool. I love Bangkok.
Fantastic film
Sweet as!
16mm is so vivid those scenes over 50 years ago seem like only a week ago to me.
I'm from Bangkok. This made me cry.... 😭
Brilliant. I love Bangkok
The Fiat 500 cabrio at 1.27 beautiful :))
Great! I was here in 1966...
Cool video ..
Nice one
Somethings never change.
Nice old photos
0:55 - 1:07 Sanaam Luang weekend market
IMO the smaller Sanaam Luang market was exotic and interesting than nowaday Chatuchak market.
WoW
Nice View
Great
Awww,I like how it doesn't really changed that much. You can still see some of it that way😊
Lots of cool old cars and motorbikes.
I just finished watching manila wayback in 60s and now here bangkok comparing the two
Wow!! 1965 I just 3 years old .
love the classic bike license plate
Somehow I got a penchant for the great old days especially in Bangkok, life was simple and people were nice with smiling faces around. However, things are changing at faster pace with high-rise buildings and people in Bangkok don't smile so much now. Sigh!
Albert Tan no life was not simple than or 100 years ago.
cause They’ve been in debt. house , car, kid education. country change to fully capitalism. they must earn enough money to pay their debt. This is why nowadays, they don’t smile as in the past
Love the tuktuk rides
Wow the preserve clip is out standing concider being 56 years ago
Wow--one thing that strikes me is that almost everyone is slim and fit. Even old people. What a difference from today where you have kids following their parents to the nearest McDonalds or 7-11 for their required sugar fix
Wow
Sawadee mi. 😷😷
Love Thailand from india ♥️
Much better if without background music
Those trucks can still be seen in Isaan today, there aren't many left however.
Holy shit I recognize that Alter shop!! It's still there broooooo
Yes, the good old days!
There is a traffic jam over 50 years in Thailand, OMG!
Amazingly clean streets compered to now.... strange , would have thought it would be the other way around
Not so much plastic.
Traffic chaos, that never changed even a bit.
Nantawat Kittiwarakul 😂🤣😂🤣
Many parts of Bangkok still look just like this.
That's right hehe
What the fuck you idiot
Atthapol Wanich
Would love to see some movie or TV show set in 60s bangkok
not sure about the TV shows but for TV commercials or thai movies of the day ,there are plenty on RUclips.
Is the sound artificially added or it's the real sound?
It a fake video
@Yoswin Freeman yes, I added the sounds when editing the film some years ago. The original footage was silent since my grandfather did not record any sounds. As you said, Yoswin, that would have required additional equipment. The Bolex camera itself was already pretty heavy. I pointed out in the film description that I added sounds (and who to credit for it), but RUclips only shows the text when user click on "show more...".
Tuk tuk same model 😍
Look like Cambodia around 15 years ago.
Yeah
Egypt nowadays
It’s like nothing has changed for 55 years
Top! Ansonsten sehr modern heute. Da können wir uns ne Scheibe abschneiden.
Classic มาก
Looking back at my hometown I realized how screwed we are, our traditional buildings are almost gone to high rise ones
may i use your video? I am doing video for youtuber about Bangkok in the old day. your video is such a nice capture all around. It would be honor if you grand me permission. Thank you sir . best regards, nick
+Explosion In The Sky NATHAPONG FILMS yes, you may use the video for your own youtube video. It would be cool if you could send me the link once your video is online. Best Regards! Robert
damnn, I'm Thai and 27 yrs old, but look at those Cars !!! i really need some of that nowadays
Is there a ban on cars older than 15 years in Bangkok. Please let me know.
Funny how little it changed. Some of these cars are still being used today.
Not many motorbikes those days...
Jj Pieter
True nowadays
the audio? wheres that from?
the pic quality is good...but surprising esp. is sound clarity...how come...1960s microphone?
Heavy on the horns in those days.
At that time I was 7 years old.
I was 5
Much has changed and much has stayed the same. It's still a struggle for the poor.
In Thailand, we don't honk the car horn like crazy as the sound effect in this video.
Where are the gogo bars?
Turn the music of becomes good
With the exception of the cars, Northern Thailand looks almost exactly like that today.
