- Eliane Elias and Chick Corea perform "Armando's Rhumba" from Eliane's upcoming album MIRROR MIRROR, available September 10th, 2021 on Candid Records.
Over the course of a distinguished career spanning nearly 30 albums, multi-GRAMMY®-winning pianist/singer/composer Eliane Elias’ distinctive musical style has emerged as one of the most unique and immediately recognizable sounds in jazz. With over 2.2 million albums sold to date, Elias blends her Brazilian roots with her virtuosic jazz and classical piano skills. Having always counted Chick Corea as one of her chief influences, it was a dream come true to work with him as a duet partner. You can discern the duo’s chemistry on the elegant track “Armando’s Rhumba.” Written by Corea, and originally released on his 1976 Spanish Heart album, the composition is widely considered a jazz standard.

This is a lesson in musical sensibility and not dominating the room with technique and flash, just because you can.
Eliane's greatness has been in her musicality and interpretive groove. I love how Chick matches the minimalism of Elaine's technique.
Conversely, when Chick played with Hiromi, it could almost be argued that she had to moderate her technical chops to balance out with Chick- although Chick chops seemed limitless.
The difference is 13 years in the life of an old man. Chick Corea recorded a few months before his death. He had a good technique until 2018, although could not do his strong chords anymore, which was one of his trademarks for life.
@@DihelsonMendonca I will have to listen again. Chick was doing his home videos until the end and seemed fine to me.
@@---wd3hp in comparison, you should listen to Eliane Elias with Herbie Hancock. She has a wonderful technique. BTW, she's from my Country, Brazil. I know her work before she went to America. She's very talented. Chick Corea is one of my all time influences as a pianist. I know his music from the 70s. Have all his albuns in vinyl and CD, DVD, books and transcriptions. He's a guy I heard almost every day. Unfortunately, we can't compare his prowess in the very end with the Chick Corea which recorded "How deep is the ocean" in 1991, nor his works like Three quartets, but until the Vigil band, although always with a soft touch which comes from around 2008 to 2013, his ideas continued good along with his mind until the end. Heartbreaking ❤️🙏👍
wow. My two favorite Latin jazz pianists on the same stage playing one of my all time favorite Chick Corea compositions. So full of passion, emotion and fire. Just like the dance.

He woke up all my senses. I've played the piano all my life, but seeing him live in the early 80s in Buenos Aires was an epiphany. I will miss him forever ❤️🌿 Thank you so much for this treasure and keeping his Memory alive for us all.

Chick Corea recorded with Eliane Elias few months before his death, not in his peak anymore. He had a good technique until 2018, although could not do his strong and fast chords anymore, which was one of his trademarks for life. Despite that, it's a lovely album, and I love him and his music forever. He's one of the greatest musical genius of all time, and I follow him since the 70s, and have almost all, ( if not all ) albuns in Vinyl and CD, DVD, and several books, transcriptions, etc. It's a musician that all pianists need to study. R.I.P, Chick. 🎉🎉❤❤❤
