Hyundai Palisade 2024 review: Calligraphy AWD diesel | Is this the best new mainstream family SUV?

The 2024 Hyundai Palisade upper-large SUV has a trick up its proverbial sleeve: two new Calligraphy grades, which combine to replace the former Highlander flagship in its range. New to Australia, these fresh variants breathe a little more life into the model after its facelift in August 2022.
So, what do the Calligraphy and aptly named Calligraphy Blank Ink have in store for family-car buyers? Well, they bring upgraded glass (water-repellent front and acoustic rear) and a climate control touchscreen, with the latter exclusively getting darkened trim inside and out.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Marcus Craft spends a week living with the new Palisade Calligraphy, namely its all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, which is powered by Hyundai's familiar 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. I have 2022 palisade highlander diesel (pre face lift, so i dont have to put up with that speed sign chimes), and it's a gem of a family car. So much space and storage, and that third row is the best you can get in an SUV.

I hope it's just a bad microphone and that's not the actual cabin noise while driving.... Seems like a lot of road noise even if it wasn't a bad mic...

My frined’s Palisade has been back to dealership three times for dead battery and loss of power, still there as Hyundai can’t find or diagnose the issue.
