TabiEats I have been visit Kyoto for the past two weeks and decided I will like to take onigiri for work lunches because I love them so much, they are filling and fairly healthy. Is there a trick to keep the rice moist while being stored?

Your Yaki Onigiri look great. Never thought of grilling on a frying pan. I used to make bunch for my son and his friends when we had BBQ. I put cheese in the middle, then brushed with sweet sesame/peanut butter soy/miso sauce. Boy, the boys ate like there was no tomorrow!!. Great side for BBQ meats, too.

I made some this morning, gotta say I love the simplicity of it. I had to swap out the pickled plums for thin sliced butter pickles but the sweetness works SO well with the texture of the rice. Gotta work on my technique though, I couldn't make a triangular rice ball if my life depended on it. XD

I've got an old family cheese dip recipe I want to use as filling for some rice balls now, the Rice 'feels' like a bread product, so I'm thinking anything that would go on a sandwich will make a good Onigiri. (See below)

Looks amazing!! Thanks for sharing guys! One of my favorite fillings for onigiri is mixing Katsuobushi with shoyu, then squeezing out the excess shoyu. You end up with a nice chunk of smoky shoyu flavored fish in the center of your onigiri.

Ohh I'm triggered right now to make this for dinner, nomm. Don't judge me but what I absolutely love is a Miso-Soysauce mixture, and after pouring on the second time I sprinkle suger over the ricepatty (can't shape it like a onigiri XD) so it caramelice, I do adore salty and sweet together X3 Now I'm really looking forward for dinner, thanx for the awesome advice how to make the onigirishape I will practice :D
