- Links to the parts used in this video are below. Also used but not listed in this video is 2.5 mandrel exhaust pieces. These can be replaced if welding is not in your scope, by using the plastic "slinky hose" that comes with the air filter kit that is listed below. That option won't win car shows, but will function just fine.
This video was performed on an 8v engine. The snorkel kit is designed for 16v engines, however it seems to work with both engines fine. 1991-1998 (first gen)

I know this was a year ago. When I go to your Amazon list, the snorkel comes up for a Toyota truck but is very similar looking. I couldn't find one of that brand for a tracker or samurai. I didn't think it was a universal thing as well as it fit to the pillar of the tracker. Thanks.

So, the idle issue is how you said, done on purpose. Theres a wax pellet in the system that expands as the engine warms up that causes it to drop back down to a normal idle speed. Acts like a choke, i guess.. You can remove it/plug it, but you'd have to stay on the gas until the car warmed up enough to run on its own. Best to leave it alone IMO. You're gonna have to let it warm up either way, and it only takes 5, 6 minutes.
Interesting, yeah I know it was intended, and I assume it’s to heat up the cat quickly. More odd than anything. Mine ended up being higher than normal at that time because I found out the booster was leaking too so it caused it to idle higher than intended. (Vacuum leak)
@@DeathTollRacing its definitely a weird design choice. It was concerning to me when I first got mine, since it was already warmed up from the people driving it to meet me for a test drive, and then discovering the high idle after I bought it and started it up the next day...

@@DeathTollRacing h27a pretty easy swap on these. The xl7 transmission bolts right up in stock location. Just need engine mounts and wiring. Stock driveshaft works

Did the snorkel taper from a d shape into round circular? Where you cut the end off? Do you think a silicone connector would snug down tight on there? Around the outside?
If you mean from where it was supposed to go into the airbox, to where I cut it off at to fit my 2 1/2" pipe, yes. I'm sure if you could get a silicone connector around it it would work that way just fine.

Saw your video and ordered the same air filter cause i already had the snorkel. my question is did you have any issue with the air filter hitting the hood when close? im have a bit of contact.
So it did hit it today when we took it to the orv park to get a baseline before we upgrade the suspension. Turns out though, I have a broken motor mount. So once I fix that I’ll be able to tell if it will hit normally or not. Is yours an 8v too?

@@DeathTollRacing yeah mines 8v mine its rubing against the hood i just used foam tape. also your idle mine had that issue but i just blocked off the idle control valve cause the tend to go bad and cost alot of money for a new one
@@killerprduction excellent! I’m going to look at the valve and see if I can’t come up with a way of adjusting it or modify it to work.
Quick question.... What if it's raining and you get water inside the snorkel .. it's a sealed air filter so there's no where it can drain ?
You can definitely put one in the lowest point. I will be adding that later on during the further waterproofing episode. I talk about this towards the end of the video I think (or did I edit that out???). It all blends together...

Is yours auto or manual and what gear ratio looks like it boots around good the one I have goes like 20 in 1st gear lol
Mine are the 5.125. That’s the factory gear for the 5 speed trackers. Autos got the 4.625’s.
Mine also has low range transfer case gears from low range off-road. That was the best upgrade to date on it. I have a video on doing that too.

@@pontiacperformance1993 lol probably. The header and exhaust at least make it sound quick. Check out my latest tracker video vs a budget trophy truck and you can see how quick it isn’t. 😂

actualy if you vent your diffs and gas tank you could put it totaly under water
I like to also unplug all electrical and add dielectric grease to all connectors too. It’s good practice even if you don’t plan on submerging it.

That's weird. I just looked, I think it's just reversed images, (i have a feeling it was a copyright thing), but either way, I found another that is cheaper anyway. amzn.to/3oeH3eg This Should be right. That was the link I bought them off of, so it's weird now that it appears to be right side. I never have seen a vitara that would even work on.
