I'm a minor. i didn't have a choice. he beat me and beat me until one day i finally had enough and told my mother. he's now in jail, and i have been in abusive relationships with young men, who thought it was okay (after knowing about my father) to hit me, even teasingly, very hard. i enjoyed rough housing, as i am a tomboy, but when those punches and slaps leave bruises and marks... its not right for any girl to go through that. that is why i am thankful to have met trent, my lovely boyfriend. he has never laid a hand on me except to wipe away tears from my eyes or hold me in a loving way. it is difficult to get out of abusive relationships, i know. but when you do, you realize how strong you were to have gotten yourself out of them, and you will move on to another wonderful person, one that hopefully treats you better than the previous. i just want everyone to know that I'm always available if anyone ever needs to ask for advice or just let out to someone. i might not know exactly what to say, but i can try my best to offer advice and support. all of your lives matter, don't let someone degrade you.

Growing up I watched my mother be with an abusive man who would not only hit her but my sister and I as well. My mother always tried to leave with us but he would that threaten that if she left he would kill us. After a year my sister and I were sent to our fathers house and my mom had planned to leave while he was at work but he caught her and my father came to the rescue to only get his throat slit by the man. Today I am terrified that the man is lurking behind every corner or that I will be with someone like him. I also ran into him one day and it was terrifying because I look exactly like my mother. 3 years ago, I was in an abusive relationship with a guy. It was horrible, he was controlling and if I didn't do what he wanted, he would hit me. He told me what I could wear and what I couldn't. I'm glad I finally got the chance to leave.

Growing up I watched my mother be with an abusive man who would not only hit her but my sister and I as well. My mother always tried to leave with us but he would that threaten that if she left he would kill us. After a year my sister and I were sent to our fathers house and my mom had planned to leave while he was at work but he caught her and my father came to the rescue to only get his throat slit by the man. Today I am terrified that the man is lurking behind every corner or that I will be with someone like him. I also ran into him one day and it was terrifying because I look exactly like my mother. This song has helped to get me through some of those memories.
