Notre Dame is going to have a MASSIVE offensive line next year. Wagner 6'7" 320, Jagasau 6'7.5" 335, Lambert 6'7" 320 with Knapp and Schrauth scrappy and strong 6'4" & 6'5" 300lbs. Not sure who can back up other than Will Black... That's my only concern. Tyler probably knows who is in the wings to step up in the event of injury
Your projection of Wagner getting up to 320 is most likely wishful thinking. Ashton Craig will be back from his injury (hopefully). The OL entering the portal hurts, especially Coogan & Spindler. Losing leadership & experience. Coogan would’ve been depth at all 3 IOL positions, & I think Spindler could’ve won one of the guard spots, or at the very least been first off the bench at either OG spot. As we have seen… injuries happen and having quality depth is invaluable! I cannot see Knapp starting at LT again if Jags is healthy. Hopefully Knapp gets healthy, & adds strength & weight, he could move inside, but if he actually WINS the LT position over Jags/Lambert… well then the best player plays.
Jaden Thomas seems to lack consistency. USC interception comes to mind- it happens- not criticizing- but he doesn't seem to generate big play opportunities. I would rather Jaden stay, but he can likely be a 12 game starter at a Michigan State or Wisconsin etc.
Corner is tough because I basically went through most of the season not really hearing Leonard Moore’s name, whereas Christian Gray (hilarious name) was getting burnt on routes so his name would get called, but it wasn’t until the end of the season that I realized Leonard was a lockdown corner, which is why I didn’t hear his name often
@@IamRa-18 Except that he also was the ‘Defensive Pass Game Coordinator’. Which would put him in the middle of any strategic game preparation. His ability to coach his players has been a huge factor in the success of the secondary. He learned under Golden. If freeman wants to stay in house, the standard rule is pick the guy who is most likely to leave for a better job. Mickens is that guy over Washington, or Bullough.
Well Freeman painted himself into a corner because he said that Mickens is ready to be a defensive coordinator. If so and Freeman doesn't name him DC, what does that say about Freeman? That Mickens is good enough to be a DC, just not here?
@@brianwalsh7352 Possibly. But it doesn’t paint Freeman as a bad guy, a liar, or wrong… Mickens could very well be ready, BUT in doing due diligence, which I’m sure Freeman will do, if he comes across a clearly more qualified candidate… it would be coaching malpractice not to hire the better guy. If that’s how it goes, & Mickens gets offered the DC job at another school, then you have to live with that.
@@tylerkinney3189it’s not down grades it’s guys that played a ton this year who now have a year under their belt and some of the guys who will step in will actually be upgrades not downgrades. The coaching is more of an issue than the players in my opinion.
@ completely disagree. when Notre Dame struggles to win 7 or 8 games next year (even with their cupcake schedule) I think you will see just how premium and better this 2024 team was in key positions. There isn't a single upgrade coming in across the board players wise
None of the departures were totally unexpected. They were probably or even highly likely to NOT play significant snaps next season and other than Pendleton, they are 4th or 5th year players. They all saw the writing on the wall. The coaches are honest in their evaluation of their players, which they should be, and the fallout is players who want to start, move on in order to play.
Jagusah is The LT his pass pro is better than knapp, now knapp should be right gaurd he is a very good run blocker. This O Line is going to be ridiculous. I can't wait for week 1.
I 100% agree about MM. They took a chance on Marcus. He took the team to the Nat in year three. Give MM the shot. He deserves it. Easy transition too for the players.
What are the xfr portal players degree status? If they are not leaving wih an ND degree, that is worrisome to me. If players are leaving without it. That is an indication that an ND degree is losing itsinfluence, and i would like to know why that is?
Congratulations to Coach Freeman and The Fighting Irish on a fantastic season and being the story of the season. Also Congratulations to Coach Freeman on winning the Paul Bear Bryant Coach Of The Year Award. Looking forward to 2025 and beyond. Lot of talent coming back in 2025 Love, Price, Greathouse, Faison, Grey, Raridon, Traore, Moore, Viliamu-Asa. It will be interesting to see who wins the starting QB between Carr and Angelli. Can’t wait till Notre Dame opens up with Miami.
Hmmm, it kind of makes a mockery of Notre Dame University being a location whose prime function is a supposed to be further education. I understand the changes that the transfer portal have projected but this is an insult to most other academic students.
Sorry but Knapp won't be the left tackle next season that will be Charles. It was nite and day watching the National Championship game. I think Knapp could complete at the right guard next season.
Tyler, you better talk to your buddies over at IrishIllustrated because everybody wants Mike making but they’re telling us it’s not happening and they’ve been saying it. Mike Mickens is not gonna be defensive coordinator super sad bro horrific if he leaves us.
Freeman had AL to help him learn to be a head coach. Freeman a ex defensive coach can help teach mickens on the way. But I think he’s more ready then freeman was taking the head coaching gig. We gotta keep mickens at all cost. I’ve been saying it the last two years. This dude is gonna be our next DC. Let us build.
I wish you would mention that almost all of the departures will also be ND grads. This will mean a lot more over the course of their lives than playing an extra year of college football... even if they cannot see it at their age.
Notre Dame doesn't need any of these guys hope their next team is happy with those bums.. Al Golden will not be missed this is really coach Freeman defense anyway... and the recruiting guy who went to USC is laughable he's done nothing but hold freeman back. Freeman best recruiter in the country, best developer, best defense coach. Notre dame goes undefeated and wins the title
I'm very disappointed we are losing so many OL, especially the most experienced ones. Depth is important. Also surprised Morrison declaring for NFL draft when he was injured all year.
I feel like that was not a smart move by Morrison. Some of the most notorious NFL draft busts were after injuries. Heisman winner Jason White comes to mind
Morrison missed an entire season, and should he return and get injured again his NFL future would be in serious doubt. I wish he was coming back, but I think he did the right thing.

That’s normally the thing with corners. The lower the stats normally means the better year they’re having because no one throws at them.
still feeling disappointed... i was sick after the loss to u s c in 63 but now i don't let myself fall that far..
good man. Im 57 now and my kids fear Im going to have a coronary during some games

They should 100% bring back the “1 year penalty” for transfers who transferred from starting positions.

If you are talking about Spindler and Coogan they are both graduates and 1 year penalty wouldn't apply to them same with Thomas and Colzie
